I just don't get it... after Cailan's death and Alistair shows up, Alistair should be the ruler... there shouldn't be a conference who should the ruler... isn't it? Since Anora is no Maric's blood, she shouldn't be queen after Cailan's death. How can she be one after the death of her hot husband?

@DarkestSide1000 Those kinds of convoluted power struggles are not uncommon in the history of royalty with multiple claimants or even multiple families asserting that their line has a right to the throne. Depending on Fereldon's laws and traditions, the widowed Queen of the King may very well be the 'normal' choice for ruler. Even so, it isn't hard to convince Anora that having Alistair by her side makes her claim more legitimate.

@DarkestSide1000 Since Fereldon law permits a Queen Dowager to rule, the royal line would continue through her despite having broken away from Maric's bloodline,. Alistair does have Maric's blood but is a bastard. The question you're asking is who rules: Cailan's Queen or the Royal Bastard? Anora has at least some HEALTHY clout as if your human noble marries her, you become King Consort, NOT King Regnant despite neither of you being Maric's progeny.

Queen Anora says King Consort during the landsmeet.

yeah... the game tried to deliver something new. However, it didn't work since we were fighting for Cousland's throne... not Ferelden. IMO, if they made Loghain stealing Ferelden's throne, it'll be better.

@DarkestSide1000 What if the warden was a dwarf or an elf? I actually like it when Alistair's Maric's son. And also what if the warden was a female human noble? Then there wouldn't be any good romance IMO if Alistair wasn't the prince. I like to be a dwarven noble and fight for Alistair being king since you get more attached to him because he has a BIGGER role than any normal/previous NPC.

@AurkiaStar Joke aside, Very unlikely. Warden taint makes it almost impossible to get a female pregnant. It's rumored that Queen Anora is Barren.

@Revan657 On the flip side, there's a good chance Cailan was impotent as he had many lovers on the side with no heirs himself.

However unlikely, we known of Fiona's child and the Warden's child with Morrigan (DR) so there still is a decent chance :D

@YourEverydayGameFan Well you hear of Wardens in relationships all the time. Like Justice when he inhabited that dead Warden's body (can't think of the name...Kristoff or something?), that Warden was married.

I think the Taint just makes it harder, near impossible, but not impossible totally.

@SelejX Actually, there is truth to that. the Taint of the Darkspawn in the Wardens does severely lower the chances of virility in males, or fertility in females, of any species. it is rare for Wardens to have children at all, and damn near impossible if both prospective parents are Wardens. i did my research on this, and it is true. the reason it worked with Morrigan is because while the deed was being done, she was weaving a blood spell too.

@Isildun9 Actually, there is that thing, if you've slept with Morrigan at least once, she will be pregnant with Warden's child anyway, regardless of whether or not you've chosen to participate in the Ritual and thus use blood spell. That's not a bug, but one of the variations of Morrigan's epilogue. Also let's not forget Fiona, who managed to get pregnant with Alistair while being a Grey Warden ("The Calling")

@Xxandrew01 It's very rare for a Warden to have Children by Natural Means. Why I said it's Almost impossible, It would be interest to see Anora or Alistair Kids. Bioware seems to be abandoning some of the storylines from Origins.

@Baito28 Morrigan uses Blood Magic to get pregnant. It's not impossible to have children with a Warden, It's just very Rare. Two Warden's having children is next to impossible.
