Thank you for your instruction and enlightenment on this topic. Praying this book of hours along with the rosary and divine mercy I believe really brings one close to monastic life and God loves the praise and prayers. I can see the benefit in my life and I know it will only get greater as time passes. I recommend A Catholic Book of Hours and Other Devotions. It also goes through the entire day and week.
God Bless you, and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I just received my liturgical hours books, and realized that it will really take some practice in navigating through the sections. in Jesus and Mary
i have the traditonal roman breviery set ...in latin !!!! i have yeouble with the set you have .. you can just imagine how long it takes me to find evrything in latin lol :)
I just bought the book today to use with my wife. I'm excited to do it. It's a great symbol of unity because we know that people around the world are following along with each other throughout the day. The Church is about uniting the world to each other, Christ's body. The Liturgy of the hours is one way to live the Gospel. "Pray without ceasing" 1 Thess 5:17

wow. what happens if i dont follow this incredibly over complicated prayer schedule? i mean literally, are people being denied entry into heaven because they missed the feast of the mass saints prayer on the 14th or whatever? And if different parishes read different prayers for said entry, but there is just one God, are some people being guided to do more than they have to? or worse yet are some people being guided to not do enough? Do they get a pass if the pastor is to blame?
@sirdaveysockrocker woah woah woah woah take it easy there! No one is forced to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. People who do it do so so they can get closer to God. I miss prayer times all the time, and I'm pretty sure God still loves me very much. Mass is the same all around the world. On the same Sunday, the same readings will be read in hundreds of different languages all over the globe. No one can do "more than necessary" to please God. And you're "not doing enough" if you don't even try.

It is interesting how our country is so dominated by protistants, because I have never heard about any of this.

@kraigthorne I hadn't either until college. A lot of my Catholic friends pray it a lot.
