@salamander337 that's your call. seriously. Nothing is right or wrong. What matters is (well this is a game after all, try not to forget that...) you listened, analyse and make a decision. cheers.
@salamander337 It's better to serve the reapers. Resistance is futile, but salvation is eternal! No more divine pain can be levied than the final firing of every last neuron as they're burned away, bringing the divine glow of your implanted support structure to the shadowed void of the universe!
Hahaha I completely betrayed the council, chose the "Attack Sovereign, ignore the council" option. Last thing from Destiny Ascension was "They closed the channel" Than BOOM
@Heisbig The funny thing is, it's not just three people. That's right, in ME2 (no spoilers, don't worry) you find out that destroying the destiny ascension means destroying 50000 aliens onboard.
So I've saved the ascension. Not because of those 3 idiots, but because of 50000 aliens. It's basically the lives of 200 or so humans ot those 50000.
The release date of this game is what? 2007, 2008? I understand the storyline is awesome, but the graphics... Worse than any rpg at that time created.
@SenolisFromV i've said this before and i'll say again. You dont judge a book by its cover. Same thing goes for games. 3 point i am going to share with you. 1) Yes, it has been years since ME1 has been released but the value is in the experience - which no rpg during that time could deliver. ahem. 2) If you like visually stunning looking games, check out ME2. 3) Great games doesn't have to look awesome.. in fact there are many visually stunning game which fail to deliver. cheers =)
this was alot better with Wrex and Garrus, especially when Wrex shot Saren to see if he was dead it suited the whole thing perfectly LOL. Killed the Council BTW
I'm totally with TemporalOasis on this. Just the idea of our species one day being united under one flag, so to speak, able to pull something off like saving an alien dreadnought...it brings tears to my eyes. Not only because for how noble it is, but because it's likely that I'll never get to see that happen in my lifetime. We're so far away from finding anyone else out there in the universe and having a reason to come together against something greater than Earth or humanity.
I don't see why everyone hates the Council so much. They made you a Spectre, (Twice) give you all the equipment you need, gave humanity a seat on the Council and are generally helpful. The only problem is that they don't believe you and that their Turian is an ass. Apart from that, they're fine, not perfect but not exactly jerks.
@CharmieKid Good point there =) unfortunately not everyone sees the same point as you do =(
I guess the most important thing to do (in me1) is to carry out your responsibility and make decisions. Council no council, you live with your decisions. Happy gaming and lets finish this war in ME3! =) cheers!
I don't know if I could ever save the council It just dosen't make sense to waste your entire fleet and army for three people and one ship that is big for no reason. Besides a council can always be elected again. I disagree with an all human one though.
@Heisbig I feel the same way but you should save the council because all the councl races will respect you if you import your character to ME2 and will help you defeat the reapers in ME3.
so you're telling me that the ADMIRAL of the Alliance Fleet, when faced with an essentially military, stategic decision with dire political ramifications, is actually counting on the choice of a lieutenant commander, who is 5 ranks below him.
man, they better do something on me3 to balance the outcomes form this choice because i let the council die and i got only bad things in return.. they didnt even made me specter again....
@Parakoopatroopa Then again, saving them means saving the dreadnought for the fight against the Reapers. Plus if you sacrifice lives for the Council, humanity looks better and more willing to save the other races.
There are few games with whom i would like to play the sequels... ME is the top in this small list.. Even though abit late i just finished ME and i can't wait to play 2 and then 3
I saved the council because I figured that in the end Sovereign will probably die.
But the first time I played this game I chose to focus on Sovereign and let the council die. The council really wasn't that bad imo, I only thought the Turian council member was the terrible one.
@Parakoopatroopa The council believed that what they were doing was right, just like any other government system. It is truly up to you to decide their fate, but is it truly fair and just that he abandon them in this, their darkest hour? And is it truly so awful to show to them that, despite them spitting on the warnings that Shepard had given them, that he is still man enough to put that aside to save their lives? You hold the future in your hand. The choice is yours to make; make it wisely.
why is this game considered as one of the best RPGs of all time?
im not trying to troll here, im just trying to understand, i've played otehr RPGs which were 100 times better. Baldur's Gate for example especially the second one. Why did Bioware start making video game stories a la Hollywood??
Reminds me of Sc and how they ruined the Sc2 campaign for me:(
@Parakoopatroopa Because im guessing in mass effect 3, im guessing NOT saving the council will end up with other species not sending ships to help you.
@Loyadd *Spoiler Alert* because the collectors were not supposed to, they were busy building the Human-reaper. Not to mention Sovereign was cocky, he thought that organics could never pose a threat to the likes of him
Not like they made Shepard a Spectre and allowed him to go after Saren or tipped them off about Virmire or anything substantial like that. The Council is totally worthless! Let them burn and destroy all hope of peaceful relations between humanity and the rest of the galaxy.
Thank god I don't know anybody like Ashley...I'd have to strangle them
@Motive11331 Well see depending on your teammates you chose for this mission .. they all say that.. i had Garrus say " You're gonna sacrifice human lives to say the council shephard? What have they ever done for you?.. And ashley was the one telling me it was bigger than humanity.... its random
That's no fun...I enjoyed shooting Saren in his nappy face. Also, I made sure that bitch Ashley died after she killed Wrex. I was so mad, Wrex was my homeboy!
I let the council die, those punks had their chance to listen. Plus, Anderson gets to run things now...yipee
In mas effect three, when the council inevitably responds negetively, I'm going to make shepard respond "I SAVED YOUR FUCKING ALIEN ASSES 2 YEARS AGO AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME! SHEPARD SMAAAAASSSHHH!!!!!!!."
A: Why save the Council? What have they ever done for us?
CS: Why save you Ashley? What have you ever done but bitch and moan and have racist rants?
Such a damn xenophobe...This scene really shows the best of humanity- and despite the Council's backtracking on Reapers, they still acknowledged mankind for it.
@TemporalOasis it is a beautiful; thought but i think if humanity was ever put in that situation we probably would never rise up to the challenge. humanity is weak.
I'm all for the human race but saving the council was the wisest decision just like saving the collector base. But damn for that being one of the greatest asari ships talk about fail eh?
4:54 Alliance, FUCK YEAH! Coming again, to save the mother fucking day yeah, Alliance, FUCK YEAH! Freedom is the only way yeah, Sovereign your game is through cause now you have to answer too, Alliance, FUCK YEAH! So lick my Mass, and suck on my Effect, Alliance, FUCK YEAH! What you going to do when we come for you now, it’s the dream that we all share; it’s the hope for tomorrow FUCK YEAH!
this is the most epic cutscene of a space battle ive ever seen!! first time it brought a tear to my eye just the beauty of the graphics and the fleet swooping in obliterating the geth omg i love this game!
@TheFoxtrot813 That's how people actually think IRL. And that is exactly why, how Liara said once "This is why you humans have a violent reputation" or something like that.
Do we ever get explained why the Geth suddely don't use their Stalkers in ME2? The "heretics", as Legion calls them, are basically the same Geth Sovereign used...
Im sure the explanation is that they are the most annoying enemy ever in a FPS game, so they wanted to leave them out, but that doesn't explain why they just vanish! I LOVE continuity errors...
You only fight the Geth a handful of times in ME2 as they are no longer the backbone of the antagonists forces. Only on both of Tali's missions, Legion's loyalty, and Overlord as far as I remember. Maybe they just didn't have any of those platforms in the few places you find them at.
Wow I just did this with Ash and Wrex. Everthing that tali was saying was is that Ash was saying. In my game everthig tha my Wrex said is what this dudes Ash said. lol she needs to make up her mind..
@nevrest lol. not entirely true. besides, you're the captain/leader of the crew - you can consider their suggestion and then make a decision by your own judgment. =)
@alwincorner Thats true, but think about it! Ashley wanted to eradicate the Rachni, blow up the Council, and fuck up Wrex! If Kaiden weren't so boring, I'da done the galaxy a favor and blown up this insatiable racist.
@nevrest I am tired talking/explaining the same old thing about Ashley. You do that in your game and save me the trouble from repeating myself over and over again about Ashley. =)
thank you...lastly, if wrex dies. Its not Ashleys Fault. Its the players fault for not doing his quest to make him loyal to the player. Cheers.
@nevrest She didn't want to fuck up Wrex. She is mistrustful of him, yes, but she never says that she wants to kill him, and if she does kill him, it's because he was threatening Shepard. This is kind of a lose-lose situation for Ash. In one hand, she kills Wrex, which automatically makes her universally hated; on the other hand, she does nothing to help Shepard and therefore she is useless.
@nevrest As for the Council, they're useless idiots. At least the Alliance marines that would have been sacrificed to save them are useful. All the Council does is stand on their little thrones being inefectual. Soldiers take time and dedication to train; politicians are everywhere, each worse than the other, and therefore are easily replaceable. I saved the Council, personally, but I can see the logic behind leaving them to die.
@blackswordsman89 And you think that anyones who wants can just become a politician? That it doesn't involved years of studying and working? Like it or not, the Council are the ones keeping Galactic estability.
Besides, by saving the Council, humanity gains the trust and regard of the other races but if we let them die, we will always be viewed as bullies and tyrants.
How much easier do you think it will be to recruit allies in ME3, if Shepard saved the Council?
@AntiXaldin Hi there! Thanks for your comment. You're one of the many who have shared the same idea that saving the council was a good deed and it reflects on us,human (humanity). As for ME3, i havent read a single news about it but i really hope they would not change too much of the game mechanics. I am saying this because i just completed Dragon Age2 (i'll reserve my DA2 comments in another video though =p ) Well, lets just hope that they keep up the good work for ME3 =)
@AntiXaldin Yes, anyone can become a politician. Any opportunistic sack of shit with enough charisma and support can gain an election. Look at Brazil and America.
And I don't see how are we tyrants and bullies if we simply rebuild the Council instead of taking over. While this is ignored on ME2, on ME1 there was the choice to make another Council just like the previous one, with one representative of each species.
We'd just be putting competent people in the current Council's place.
i played that game so much that i actually had a dream where that conversation wheel came up and i was standing still for a minute while i choose, thats when you know you played a bit too much.
"I couldn't stop thinking about what you said, about Sovereign manipulating me...The doubts began to eat away at me, so I went to Sovereign himself and let him mind rape me...now my doubts are gone >:D"
"I couldn't stop thinking about what you said, about Sovereign manipulating me...the doubts began to eat away at me, so the only logical solution was for me to go to Sovereign himself and let him skull fuck me...now my doubts are gone >:D
@Martintheauthor He regretted what he did, but if he lived he wouldn't have been able to resist the indoctrination for much longer, so he shot himself.

@TheFoxtrot813 That's how people actually think IRL. And that is exactly why, how Liara said once "This is why you humans have a violent reputation" or something like that.
BlindEleven 1 year ago
@TheFoxtrot813 I though the same, but a full human council would be worse, so I had to save them. -sigh-

I LOVE continuity errors...
skynet091287 1 year ago
@skynet091287

Any decision that Ashey hates is the right decision
nevrest 1 year ago 88
@nevrest lol. not entirely true. besides, you're the captain/leader of the crew - you can consider their suggestion and then make a decision by your own judgment. =)
alwincorner 11 months ago
@alwincorner Thats true, but think about it! Ashley wanted to eradicate the Rachni, blow up the Council, and fuck up Wrex! If Kaiden weren't so boring, I'da done the galaxy a favor and blown up this insatiable racist.
nevrest 11 months ago
@nevrest I am tired talking/explaining the same old thing about Ashley. You do that in your game and save me the trouble from repeating myself over and over again about Ashley. =)
thank you...lastly, if wrex dies. Its not Ashleys Fault. Its the players fault for not doing his quest to make him loyal to the player. Cheers.
alwincorner 11 months ago
@alwincorner lol I was just kidding around, so...."cheers" XD
nevrest 11 months ago
@nevrest She didn't want to fuck up Wrex. She is mistrustful of him, yes, but she never says that she wants to kill him, and if she does kill him, it's because he was threatening Shepard. This is kind of a lose-lose situation for Ash. In one hand, she kills Wrex, which automatically makes her universally hated; on the other hand, she does nothing to help Shepard and therefore she is useless.
blackswordsman89 10 months ago
@nevrest As for the Council, they're useless idiots. At least the Alliance marines that would have been sacrificed to save them are useful. All the Council does is stand on their little thrones being inefectual. Soldiers take time and dedication to train; politicians are everywhere, each worse than the other, and therefore are easily replaceable. I saved the Council, personally, but I can see the logic behind leaving them to die.
blackswordsman89 10 months ago
@blackswordsman89 And you think that anyones who wants can just become a politician? That it doesn't involved years of studying and working? Like it or not, the Council are the ones keeping Galactic estability.
Besides, by saving the Council, humanity gains the trust and regard of the other races but if we let them die, we will always be viewed as bullies and tyrants.
How much easier do you think it will be to recruit allies in ME3, if Shepard saved the Council?
AntiXaldin 10 months ago
@AntiXaldin Hi there! Thanks for your comment. You're one of the many who have shared the same idea that saving the council was a good deed and it reflects on us,human (humanity). As for ME3, i havent read a single news about it but i really hope they would not change too much of the game mechanics. I am saying this because i just completed Dragon Age2 (i'll reserve my DA2 comments in another video though =p ) Well, lets just hope that they keep up the good work for ME3 =)
alwincorner 10 months ago
@AntiXaldin Yes, anyone can become a politician. Any opportunistic sack of shit with enough charisma and support can gain an election. Look at Brazil and America.
And I don't see how are we tyrants and bullies if we simply rebuild the Council instead of taking over. While this is ignored on ME2, on ME1 there was the choice to make another Council just like the previous one, with one representative of each species.
We'd just be putting competent people in the current Council's place.
