2002 ceasfire was sufficient for LTTE to come to negotiations but what happened? they kept breaching over and over despite President Mahinda requesting for peace talks. The gov. had enough when LTTE close the Mavil Aru sluice gates and the rest is history. SLMM did not facilitate what was required to and the innocent Tamil and Sinhala farmers were terribly affected as a result of LTTE closing the sluice gates. The fact was that the SLMM reluctant to oppose the LTTE views due to life threatenings.
