@bettyskitchen this is the first time I've commented on a video and commenting back so I hope I did the beginning right. Anyway I made the soup today and just wanted to say it's the best soup I've had so far!! And plenty of leftovers for tomorrow :) Thanks for your help and hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Hi Betty, I'm planning on making this soup today but I only have about 15 maybe 20 oz of chunky sauce left. I was wondering if I could add a can of whole tomatoes and if it would taste okay. Or if you have another substitute suggestion? Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to making this soup!!
This is really great! My grandmother challenged me to try to make soup like she did recently, and I didn't know where to start. I found your video and gave it a shot and the soup was delicious! Thank you!
@audreyscomputer I have black bean soup, white bean soup, gazpacho, and other soups that are vegetarian (or can be made vegetarian by omitting an ingredient). I also have a great vegetarian chili.
I love watching your videos and I am learning how to cook as i am in my teens :)
I was wondering if you could do a dessert recipe that doesnt have any eggs or nuts as I am allergic to them both :( its so hard to find a great dessert or a cake on my birthday that doesnt contain either nuts and especially eggs!
@balletdancer247 I've been looking for a dessert recipe for you, but have not been able to come up with a cake-type dessert without eggs and nuts. Here is a cookie recipe that you might like:
Made this last night very tasty, didn't have the diced tomatoes w/green peppers just diced tomatoes, however I added Cayenne Pepper for the spice..Came out really good.
I ran out of room from my last comment, but I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU Betty!!! Really, I LOVED it ! THANK YOU ; ) oh p.s this is up there with your and your sisters lasagna that I love to combine and that's saying a lot! Much Thanks and a Hugh Hug to you Betty!
Okay Betty...I just got done making your soup&ohhhh my goodness, good gravy...your soup is really, really, really good!!! I added a little extra salt & an extra small clove of garlic(we love garlic in our house) & your soup was GREAT Betty!! I will be making this again for sure !! I even called my Mom& told her about it! She said she seen it 2. I was telling her well you gotta make it Mom! Mom said I take it you liked it? I said omg Mom it's SO GOOD! The Rotel really gave it a great kick! A+++++
@bettyskitchen Ohhhh yeah I loved it! ; ) In fact - I'm having a bowl of soup for my lunch today! I knew when I seen you make the soup I loved everything that went in it. I really loved it! The Rotel really made it just perfect too. I'm so glad you made that for us.Thanks! Your little pineapple ; ) ps ....still watchin' for that fried okra = ) wink, wink!
Hi Betty!Well I went to the store &purchased everything I needed to make this &since the weather has dropped from 97 degrees (yes, in November lol) to 80ish degrees I will be making this dish in the next 5 minutes.I wanted to rewatch your video 2 recap &watch the instructions.I will let you know how this turn out.I have some bagels & cream cheese in the house so I guess that will be dinner tonight ; ) Bagels&cream cheese &soup go pretty good together I think.I'm off to make this now.Wish me luck
hay betty how goes it. doing good here home sick with the kids. i'm going to make another beef soup in my crock pot.seems to come out better than my chicken soup LOL. last one i made i used spicy montreall steake seasining. i loved it wife not so much the kids got nun.going to the docs at 3 so i am preparing the beef now and making the soup later. ttfn. goos resapie though
@itsageoffrushthing Hello! You must live near me if it's too hot to make this now. I had posted also that it was 97 degrees here when Betty posted this great soup. I wanted to make this so bad, but it was just too hot here. I put making the soup of b/c of the weather. Today it's 80'ish degrees and I'm gonna make it today. I know...97 degrees in November. Unreal. Where do you live? I live in Southern California (by the beach) strange weather for the beach area in Calif.Where U at?
this looks so delicious i am drooling right now! i thnk ill make this saturday, i want to make this tomorrow but its a religious day for us so we cant eat meat :(
I'm going to make this tomorrow. Going to use two cans of El Pato sauce instead of the peppers and tomato sauce, and going to minus the corn and add kidney beans. Thanks so much for all the great ideas!! I think I'm in LOVE!!! with your cooking that is...
That soup looks really good, but im not too sure about the spagetti sauce. I've tried a lot of different brands of spaghetti sauce, and they all are pretty sweet. Most have over a gram of sugar per tablespoon of sauce. It definately looks worth trying though.
I think she uses it because it might be the "power boost" burner. That is how mine is so i'm just guessing that is why.. Oh lol hey its you!! I Don't you just like Betty's recipes!! She has some really great ones!
I love your combination of white and green you wearing today. You look so nice, especially the fit with your ring and necklace in green. The soup looks delicious, too. :)
great looking dish! Could I use BBQ instead of ground beef and if so which one would you recommend? pulled pork, brisket, or rib meat? which brings me to another question do you have a BBQ soup/stew recipe? another great video, thanks for sharing!
@JimboJitsu Hi Jimbo! Yes, I think you could use BBQ instead of the ground beef--maybe pulled pork. I would want the flavor of the BBQ to go well with the other ingredients. For example a sweet barbecue flavor would not be as good as a spicy flavor. Have a great day!
@bettyskitchen Hi Betty! Thanks, that is great news! I can do pulled pork without any sauce at all, lots of good smokey flavor! I think maybe the Chipotle dry rub for the pulled pork would give it a bit of a kick in the spicy flavor direction, what do you think? wOOt! I been trying to figure out a BBQ soup recipe, thanks a lot!
I like to save time and money by making this type soup in large batches when I come across a sale on the ingredients. Then I freeze several meal size portions for later use.
Oh goodness !! I will be making that really soon that's for sure! Everything that went in it I love! I might even stop at the store tonight after work and get what I need to make that. Your right about winter coming and soup being so good to eat. I wish I could make it tonight, but it's 97 degrees where I live today. Yep, 97 degrees in South. California and I'm by the beach. I sure hope it's cooler in the next few days b/c I will be making that for sure! Thanks Betty! Your great!
Thank you Betty -- this looks really delicious. I'll have to try this with some ground turkey and chicken stock as you mentioned. Might also add some potato and definitely some extra green chilies =D
oh I love this type of soup!! My school used to make this alot, except it wasn't spicy!!! But I bet it's good with the spices!! Just has some great chicken soup not to long ago!!!

If you're not going to drain the meat you can just brown the meat & vegetables in the soup pot and then you don't have to was a skillet.
