  • worlds silliest band - way funnier than the monkees

  • i absoluty love the fact that this is in color

  • Can't tell you how great it is to see Mark and the ORIGINAL Raiders again (PR, Fang, Drake & Smitty) I'm a 60's kid and this was one of my all-time fave bands...used to run home from school to watch their regular show "Where The Action Is" (although this is a great clip from "Hullabaloo"~ another show we all loved back then) The Raiders are LONG overdue for R&R Hall of Fame induction...

  • Fang is hysterical.

  • future hippies dancing in cages -- pre-psychedelic main stream years 65-66...

  • Drake was amazing. Stepping out is an old time missippi mud slide slim blues number, they pulled it off without anyone noticing the historical nature of this number, Revolutionary War costumes and Gogo dancers and all. His vocal is phenomenal... They must have had a kick singing it on that show. Clowning around at the end mock strangling Mark Lindsay... Amazing for Hullabaloo... and NBC - Was that a young Michael Landon as MC?

  • whoever clicked dislike on this is somebody I don't wanna know.

  • Not gay at all.

  • THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF CHARLES INGLE WOULD HAVE CRIED!

  • was the show broacast live?

    i

  • @pheet Yes On NBC Jan 12 1965 through Aug 29 1966. Tuesday 1965 Monday 1966

  • @pheet It was broadcast live, but they're lip-synching. Note the lack of amps, sound system, etc.

  • Man music was just plain more FUN back then!!!

  • You got it Haas "err" Dan Blocker

  • This is another great Paul Revere & The Raiders, with Drake on guitar.

  • @1962drob Cool as this is from the year I was born.ROCK ON!!!!!

  • Every song is better with GoGo Dancers!!!

  • What a great year to be a senior in high-shcool! The music, the girls, the muscle cars, what a magic time.

  • that was little joe

  • Go Go Boots!

  • Weren't those Mondrian-inspired mini dresses groovy! And that cute little brown-haired go-go girl is Donna McKechnie (sp?) of the lead on Broadway's original "Chorus Line", as well as Quinton Collin's love on Dark Shadows.

  • When this song first came out, me and my high school buddies thought the line "I'll call up the preacher, tell the choir to stay HOME!" was totally maniacal.

  • One of the few times that Mark agreed to wear the 3 point hat.

  • Little Joe!!!! and I had a pair of white go-go boots like that too and my sister had a fringe party dress!!! We were mod!

  • I like this version but my favorite still is by the Liverpool Five...it's on You Tube and well worth checking out.

  • Michael Landon was the most talented person on TV and the most beautiful man in this world!!!

  • I love Michael Landon too!!!

It is fantastic to see him like the presenter of the show!!!

  • The personnel changes began with Drake Levin's departure into the military. Though declining to rejoin the road group upon his return, he nonetheless was responsible for all of the guitar work on all of The Raiders' records.

  • :O Michael Landon is my Idol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I told you to never play this song again! >:(

  • Michael Landon as host, too funny! Loved this show

  • why did thet change so many band members?

  • @62billion12 oh I thought it was Bonanza we're watching...

  • @moxie96 yeah why isn't he in his cowboy outfit?!?!

  • Thank you-that was fun.

  • I think that one of the dancers is Donna McKetchne who was in Broadway in the Chorus Line.

  • Unless it was a local tv show, I don't recall it. There was a movie entitled "A Go Go 67", however. The "Hullabaloo A Go Go" was a segment as part of the TV show, "Hullabaloo."

  • nice epiphone bass... wish I could go back and grab it in time warp

  • Paul Revere & The Raiders were a one of a time rock and roll band. I would have given anything to see these guys live in the '60's. I was born in '62. Bummer :(

  • So this is what Little Joe did when he left the Ponderosa and went to the big city.

  • They had a lot of young stars hosting this show every week. It was a new show before Hulabaloo. Loved it.

  • Ohh this brings back so many great memories, this is when music was fun and all you wanted to do was dance. I wore dresses like that...Cool Daddy. :)

  • Is that Little Joe?

  • @nzmoores Yes: Michael Landon.

  • @nzmoores Sure is !

  • Hullabulloo Au Go Go rocks..Pity I could only find one episode.. Though Im very happy this is the one! featuring Paul Revere and The Raiders..totally awesome band..thanks for upload

  • @MDProdTV

This segment was part of the TV show called "Hullabaloo" ... it wasn't Hullabaloo A Go Go. During the mid 60s there were two shows that we watched on national TV that were similar. One was Hullabaloo and the other was Shindig.

  • @WallyPost I'm 57 now. If my memory serves me, wasn't there a show on tv called " A go go 67" ?

  • Their Early American Costumes were a great gimmick!

  • This song has a great beat to it. I really like their costumes.

  • Really nice video but well worth checking out is the version recorded first by the Liverpool Five earlier in 1966. It's recently turned up again on You Tube and has the greatest vocals and guitar work...well worth listening to but make sure you crank up the volume to get the best thrills.WOW!!...! I heard that the Pac. NW was never the same after the LP5 came over and every band like PR and the Raiders became second best.

  • @Roxsox221 Mark wrote this song when he was 16 though...so the Raiders did the original version and recorded it first. the Liverpool Five must have done a cover. That is still cool though.

  • @wouldntyoulike2know FYI..this tune was not written by Mark L. it written by Bobby Hart and Tommy Boyce and first given to The Liverpool Five who recorded it in early 1966 at RCA studios in LA. Soon after the Raiders and the LP5 played together on a short tour of the Southern US , as well as with the Rolling Stones in Seattle. The Monkees later recorded this tune in the same studio and engineers as had the LP5. Each group's version is different and worthy of attention.Peace Out!!!

  • @Roxsox221 I think you've got this song confused with "Not Your Stepping Stone." Because the titles are simiar.

Mark Lindsay wrote "Steppin Out" when he was 16. The Raiders did a cover of 'Not Your Stepping Stone" in 1966. As did the other groups. But this song here, is a Raiders song only.

  • @wouldntyoulike2know I stand corrected...I was confused between similar titles. Thanks for the correction.

  • @Roxsox221 The Monkees NEVER recorded this..you're probably thinking of "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone", not "Stepping Out"

  • @1:23 it is so cool seeing Mark goofing around, with Paul!!! That's what made these guys so successful!!!

  • Cool and in color!!!! Did anyone realize that the host is Michael Landon, who used to be on Bonanza and then Little House on the Prairie? I was about 8 years old when this came out and I wanted to be one of those go-go dancers and I begged my mom for a pair of those white go-go boots!!!!!!!!

  • These guys are fun to watch. Great color on this video. Hard to believe this was back in 1966. Those costumes were cool!!

  • Pretty sure this is early 1965, not '66.

  • Only the vocal here is live, the music is from tapes. Notice how Mark Lindsay had noticeably thinning hair in his early clip? What did he do to improve it later??

  • @DocReasonable You're correct about the live vocal over taped music... but I don't know how you could see the disposition of Lindsay's hair under the hat. It appears to be lighter in color than he had at a later time. Perhaps he dyed it dark, or he was a natural brunette and bleached it a bit in the early days. I met him once, randomly, in California, back in the 90s, and he seemed to have a full mane.

  • @slimshine953 Mark looks like he did dye his hair darker in the later 60s. But I think he was a natural brunette and here he could have had his hair lighter. I also tend to think that in the early days, Mark's hair was getting thicker because he was in the process of growing it all out. I have seen pictures of him from when he was really young and he wore his hair in a very different style. he used to have it all slicked back instead of combed forward.

  • Comment removed

  • @wouldntyoulike2know I believe you're correct on all points. ;~} I'd say by late '66 Lindsay had the full mane of dark hair worn in the essential Beatle style.

  • @slimshine953 Aw, well thank you so much. :) Yes, he certainly did. :) Love Mark's hair and the ponytail because it was so different than what other people did at the time.

  • @wouldntyoulike2know Oh yes, I forgot about the ponytail... which of course wasn't a Beatle thing. I think, sometime in the '68-'69 period he gave up the tail at the point when he began to grow his hair much longer. Take a look at the 'Indian Reservation' video... if you haven't already... probably from '70 or '71, somewhere on here. ;~}

  • @slimshine953 Yes, I had read that Mark said the ponytail was hard to maintain, and that was his main reason for just getting rid of it and wearing his hair all long. :) I do quite enjoy the Indian Reservation video. :) I think the Raiders during the 70s were very cool too. Just an all over cool band, I think. :)

  • Wait a second.. Isn't that guy at the beginning from Bonanza? lol

  • As you get older your tastes change, when I was a kid I was just glad to see the raiders on t.v,now that I'm older(I'm 54) That stuff look so cheesy.Don't forget at that time you had men our age producing and directing that stuff. That's what I like about the 60's music program from Europe, thay just had the bands come and play their music live with no bullshit!

  • Get DOWN Little Joe with your Hulla baloo, but don't let Hoss see you dance like that...lol..

  • First band with a gimmick. Great tunes. Music at end very Austin Powers baby... Yeah baby!

  • Great video quality. I loved watching those guys back in the 60s.

  • I can't believe I watch this crap whenI was a kid,It's painful to watch now cause those producers in the 60's thought we wanted to girls dancing with every musical act that came on,when it actually got in the way of the music. Then, in the late 60's 68 and 69 when heavier groups like Steppinwolf and Jeffreson airplane and Iron Butterfly came along, the producers started to use special effects during the performaces.

  • @jwjeffrey I'm 34 and have been obsessed with the '60s since I was 9 years old! I rented all of these VHS collections of "Hullabaloo" back about 10 years ago. Loved 'em! I don't care how cheesy the dancing was (and good gosh was it ever cheesy....check out the go go dancers during The Mamas and The Papas performance of "California Dreamin"), it still has an element of fun to it that has been lacking in music television ever since!

  • Well, not "LIVE". It's a "TV Appearance". (Not actually plugged in; lip-synch).

  • little joe

  • This is the group that should be inducted into the RRHOF, Mark, Paul, Smitty, Drake and Phil (Fang).

  • @dpgchris I'm with you on that! A very underated group. Always liked them but things just weren't quite the same ( at least to me) after Drake left and they started that needless billing:" PR&R featuring Mark Lindsay".

  • @dpgchris I loved when Harpo came into the group. He was adorable. Loved Fang, too. Didn't one of the original 'back up 3' leave because he went into the military service?

  • @dpgchris Yes they should. It`s funny i am currently living in Boise, Idaho where they formed and never knew they were from here. I am 28 and love the 60`s garage rock sound.

  • It is Michael Landon. I love these guys.

  • that MC lookes like michael landon

  • @baseballeddie1177 I saw another one w/Michael L. as MC on this show, or another one like it! It was one w/the Byrds, & they were singing "The Times They Are Changing". Also, there is one (this show, or one by a similar name), that had David McCallum (NCIS-"Ducky")! The Animals were on it, and Eric Burdon made a funny reference to "The Man From Uncle" in their song- "Club A Go-Go"; it was really funny! It must've been about the time that D. McCallum was in that show! ("M. F. Uncle" cir. 1966)

  • My fav show back then.............

  • If you watch this video and you are not familiar with the band Shonen Knife, search Shonen Knife live in New York 1991 and check out the video. You'll see why.

  • I recall the Raiders being on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1967..... and the song they performed ( although I'm not certain on this ) was " Him or Me What's It Gonna Be ", one of the two hit singles off their album......" Revolution ", the other being " I Had a Dream ".

  • I bet the guys on Bonanza teased Michael Landon about the ending of this program, if they watched it. That is hilarious the way he is toe-tapping! LOL!

  • Is that Barbara Eden in front at the end?????

  • @rivetrocks Well If it isnt ,she 'll do just fine :-)

  • HOT CHICKS MAN

  • Alice Cooper in the hall of fame...Great! I think he belongs there. But these guys should have been there looooong ago.

  • What's the name of this show? my volume isn't very good

  • @duster1958 The name of this show "Hullabaloo." If you do a search on the Internet you can find DVD's of their whole run, of 3 or 4 years. Paul Revere and the Raiders were regulars on "Where the Action is." I haven't been to Branson, MO for awhile, but Paul has a show down there, and helps put on the annual Veteran's reunion there.

  • Very cool video. Mark Lindsay looks real cool with the 3 point hat and Drake and Fang look real cool together. Another sign of why Paul Revere & The Raiders were a tight band.

  • That's Little Joe

  • Freakin' awesome!!! Thanks

  • @JHallia Looks like an Epiphone Newport.

  • Anybody know what kind of bass Phil is playing (miming) with in this vid? It looks like the same instrument on the cover of "Here They Come"

  • Great quality and sound, thanks so very much for posting!!OMG seeing Michael Landon so young.I love it.

  • I did not know any of the "A Go-Go" shows were in color. This is Great! :)

  • This is one of the few times Mark Lindsay wore the 3 point hat.

  • Tonight we have a real surprise - Holywood A Go Go in COLOR??? Thanks a heap for the upload!

  • The Raiders were a tight live band, and this is the ultimate Raider line up, early on, with Drake,,Phil & Smitty - all great musicians, and Paul did the job with the organ. So why do none of these old tv clips - even Ed Sullivan - show them performing live? Here at least Mark is actually singing over a recorded musical track - most of the time it is nothing but lip synch. Why? Melcher was a great producer, but was he totally the guy behind the curtain? Please explain, someone.

  • @chookiechooks I'm with you. They were a great live band, but there is nothing live in the vault. I asked Mark once and got little more than a shrug. That's just they way they did it.

  • @chookiechooks - Probably the NBC censors - the Raiders got away with a bit more as the house band on "Where the Action Is" (ABC) - CBS was no better, but Ed Sullivan had clout.

Too bad Melcher hadn't signed Charlie Manson to a contract in the mid-60's. Sharon Tate & friends would have lived longer, and possibly Sherwood Schwartz would have produced "The Manson Bunch" instead of that other one, where the youngest had curls?

  • @IvanaJonestinkle

re:"CBS was no better, but Ed Sullivan had clout." - I'd never seen the Raiders on the Sullivan Show, but I guess I was thinking of Jim Morrison's live performance - Mick Jagger had caved, but not Jimbo -

Anybody been to the R&R Hall in Cleveland recently? I was there opening weekend 13 years ago, and the most impressive exhibit was not Lennon's Sgt.Pepper garb, but a "temp.loan" of Jim's 2nd grade smiley-drawings & Cub Scout uniform. What happened to that boy?

  • @IvanaJonestinkle

The Raiders were on Ed Sullivan. Freddy Weller's first public appearance with the band was on one of Ed's shows.

  • this is great!!!

  • 2:50 Would you like to dance baby? *birds says no* Haha! Great post!

  • What a GREAT VIDEO...perfect color and perfect sound...THANK YOU for posting

  • One of the most perfect records ever made!

  • @MikeBlitzMag : U'r darn right! =o]

  • FINALLY! Authentic go-go boots! These are the right height--not those hooker-looking knee boots like Nancy Sinatra wore! This show is pretty plastic, but at least everyone is having FUN, & the dancers up on top are free to really dance--they're doing the Pony pretty good! Hullabaloo rocked & so did the Raiders.

  • @mickindanny Nancy's boots were made for walking. Oh God that was awful, sorry. Couldnt help it lol.

  • its ok..1966 style..au go go style..:)

  • IT SUCK NEED SAY ANYMORE
