For all it's beauty this song always makes me feel a little sad, hell a lot of Beatles stuff does. It just makes me think of how amazing the little spiritual revelations and thoughts about the universe we might have, but we can't truly ever share it with others, and it's an isolating experience. For all the insight and reflection "nothings gonna change my world"
Just now was the first time that I heard this version and it's beautifull,so this weekks all time favorite Beatles track is this one,JAI GURU DEVA OM.
@sUop99 It Means "Revered Spiritual Teacher" He's the gray bearded Indian guy, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The guy who taught and got the Beatles involved in Transcendental Meditation. The song's trying to describe transcendental meditation
Aha! I knew it! pause at 3:01. Paul is dead assumption videos say that Paul McCartney was playing right handed while in India. People have accused the maker of that video of playing that footage in a mirror! They really did mirror it! those stupid fakers!
Perhaps the most beautiful version of one of Lennon's best Beatles' (or solo) songs. The sitars are beautiful as are the lyrics and John's vocal (always the best!)
This song was not released while the band existed. The Beatles were the iconic 1960s band. Between 1965-67 they created modern music and this song captures that period. Whether we like the Maharishi doesn't matter. He was a significant influence on T Beatles sound. I was 16 at the time and remember the era. This song captures not merely the essence of the time but the spirit of hopefulness that existed. Fortunately, Lennon died and didn't have to see the cesspool we all helped create.
Could have done without the maharishi stuff. I'm glad he finally exited stage left. Good riddance! The fact that that despicable little fraud outlived Lennon and Harrison is downright criminal.
@Guitcad1 But why? All of the rumors were found to be just that.Rumors. Some of the Beatles actually apologized later about making the song in reference to Maharishi and his supposed behaviors...Om Namah Shvaya....I hope you are well...
I can not explain how I feel when I listen to The Beatles - I know it seems very weird to say but when I listen to them .. I feel high?

The Maharishi wanted to be worshipped like a little godling. But John saw through him and called him out, bless him.

What does Jai Guru Dev mean?
sUop99 2 months ago
@sUop99 it is a sanskrit word which implies respecting your teacher. Over here it probably refers to the spiritual teacher. :)
