I raced a outlander 800 efi just like yours and on loose dirt I couldn't pull ahead until 3rd gear but on hard pack dirt I would win every time. My Quad weighs a lot less than a raptor and still beats Raptor 700's as well and mine is not fuel injected either!

The 660 raptor with a good rider will pretty much beat any 450, 700 or whatever other quad you want to throw at. I had an 03 660 with k&n, yoshi rs3 carbon, bored 5cc over, buy no cams or polish and 200ft the 450s would keep up quite well, but after that my raptor ate them, 400ex with 440 big bore, the raptor destroyed it everywhere, I raced one 700 and I beat it but not by much. Not only does the skill of the rider matter, the tires the quad has, but also the weight of the rider. Professional
The can am are fast. They can beat 700 raptors if the person on raptor doesn't drag race best. I used to dirt drag race yfz450 few years back and the 450s are faster than big bore sport quads in 660 foot track. One guy broke down with his nitrous yfz450 and raced his 800 outy to get points at least and running 4wd that thing kept up dam good
@gixxer1000100 u obviously know nothing at all, 450s can only touch big bore quads on the track, go in the trail and you will get smoked by raptors and 700xx's. Oh and try taking your little kid quad to the sand dunes and see your your 450 will do in deep sand where the sand robs hp. 450s are track quads, end of story

@TheMhaze11 I have been riding dirt and street bikes for 23 years now and just got into quads in 03 because they have head light and mainly the cops wouldn't bug us as much.I first rode a 01 660 and loved so I went and bought a 03 ltz 400 brand and loved it.I have had a v-force 700,raptor 700 kingquad 750 ltr 450 that was highly modded and currently own a brute force.I liked my ltr the best I just found it to be the quad I could ride the fastest on track and trail.
cause the 700 is heaver and geared lower plus i have a 660 and i beat 700s all day if you don't believe 660 are better look it up and the reason they stopped making the 660 is cause they handle like shit and were to top heavy
@fastcarfreak69 Raptor 700 will smash a 660 any day of the week stock vs stock or mod for mod, I know because I own a heavily modded 660 and have raced many 700s. If your beating 700's all day long its simply because your a superior rider than whoever is riding the 700. If the 660 was superior they would have left the engine and simply upgraded the handling characteristics. I love my 660 til the day I die, but I do admit that the 700 is better
@Potch85 WRONG they had to move to a 700 because the 660 was also in the grizzly, and every company was coming out with 700 and 800 4x4s.Also had to compete with hondas sport 700xx. Everyone that knows how to ride and knows quads, knows that the 700 is just a 686cc fuel injected raptor. Ask any service tech or dealer, the 700 has had alot more problems with the tranny then the 660, 660 had a better subframe compared to the 700, 660 is geared better, 660 not as much costly electronics to break.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Can-Am has the ability to become a great manufacturer, but I think there R&D department needs to spend more time in the testing phase instead of becoming gitty like little school girls to get there shitty untested breaking down all the time leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere product on the market

@fluffme1 you sound like a honda/yamaha owner. not a mechanic, why? because you just say they are junk. worst thing about the can am is the belt with the cvt. i have never seen one go bad personally, but thats probaly because me and my friends know how to adjust and take care of our quads. i have an ltr but good friends of mine have a outlander and renagade 800, but to be honest none of my friends quads realy break anything. problem lies with kids having too much money not enough brains

Read the reviews the Raptor is big bore king in trail and sand. Raptor1200 concept is soon to be production.look up

the a123 cells is a cool idea, as well as random weight reduction.. you still have a huge heavy quad... should have started with a raptor =)
becuase i weighed mine with a full tank of fuel to be 463 pounds, there is no way it took 70 pounds off my quad by changing the battery and modifing the sub frame and a few other things.

if you look at thier dry weight specs. outlanders are actually quite light compared to almost everyone else if i remember right they are like 50 lbs. heavier then a honda foreman 450! plus they have a better power to weight ratio compared to most other 4x4s as well

More corporations are gonna start competing with the honda 700xx and the raptor and soon they will be lighter and more nimble. When that happens you can kiss your 450 fad goodbye.

@TheMhaze11 I have been riding dirt and street bikes for 23 years now and just got into quads in 03 because they have head light and mainly the cops wouldn't bug us as much.I first rode a 01 660 and loved so I went and bought a 03 ltz 400 brand and loved it.I have had a v-force 700,raptor 700 kingquad 750 ltr 450 that was highly modded and currently own a brute force.I liked my ltr the best I just found it to be the quad I could ride the fastest on track and trail.

cause the 700 is heaver and geared lower plus i have a 660 and i beat 700s all day if you don't believe 660 are better look it up and the reason they stopped making the 660 is cause they handle like shit and were to top heavy

@fastcarfreak69 Raptor 700 will smash a 660 any day of the week stock vs stock or mod for mod, I know because I own a heavily modded 660 and have raced many 700s. If your beating 700's all day long its simply because your a superior rider than whoever is riding the 700. If the 660 was superior they would have left the engine and simply upgraded the handling characteristics. I love my 660 til the day I die, but I do admit that the 700 is better

@Potch85 WRONG they had to move to a 700 because the 660 was also in the grizzly, and every company was coming out with 700 and 800 4x4s.Also had to compete with hondas sport 700xx. Everyone that knows how to ride and knows quads, knows that the 700 is just a 686cc fuel injected raptor. Ask any service tech or dealer, the 700 has had alot more problems with the tranny then the 660, 660 had a better subframe compared to the 700, 660 is geared better, 660 not as much costly electronics to break.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Can-Am has the ability to become a great manufacturer, but I think there R&D department needs to spend more time in the testing phase instead of becoming gitty like little school girls to get there shitty untested breaking down all the time leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere product on the market

@Potch85 ive never seen any of the new ones break down, when they where bombarder they wasnt worth anything but the new ones with the rotax motors are of high quality, they are by far the slowest with development, so i dont understand what you say when they need to test it first, they have been working on the commander for a few years now and it just came out,

@fluffme1 you sound like a honda/yamaha owner. not a mechanic, why? because you just say they are junk. worst thing about the can am is the belt with the cvt. i have never seen one go bad personally, but thats probaly because me and my friends know how to adjust and take care of our quads. i have an ltr but good friends of mine have a outlander and renagade 800, but to be honest none of my friends quads realy break anything. problem lies with kids having too much money not enough brains

I bet right after than can-am won it went straight to the shop because they are by far the biggest piece of shit off road vehicle manufacturer around. 3 of my friends own 800's and 2 of them have gone through motors in the first year, there only saving grace was warranty. Everyone of them has gone through several drive belts and had various other problems, needless to say each of them all regret buying them and are all trying to sell them.

I have a 660 and my friends have a banshee,a yfz and there better riders then me. they only get me off the line and tight corners. When trail opens up or i get a good stretch i eat them.I was in high 4 gear and yfz was topped out and i banged 5th and just dissapeared. Plus 4 strokes are more reliable then 2's. Read the reviews the Raptor is big bore king in trail and sand. Raptor1200 concept is soon to be production.look up

@fastcarfreak69 Not really, I mean a 660 with mods sure but not a stock one. 700 has 26 cc's over a 660 AND fuel injection. The two biggest improvements not to mention plenty of subtle differences. My 660 will spank a 700, but it took a couple thousand bucks in mods.

Everyone knows that the 660 is faster its a fact. the 700 only handles better thats all and the 700s have lots of problems with transmissions and catastrophic failure. If those people on the sport quads knew how to shift then maybee they would win. I have seen soo many races on here with people who didnt know how to shift.

the weight I got off their stats stated dry...
yamaha stated theirs as wet...
the ds has a rotax engine, its a neat quad.. but it is heavy and the 700 engine is infinatly more upgradable... and even if it wasn't, weight is the most important factor when it comes to anything performance oriented...
the a123 cells is a cool idea, as well as random weight reduction.. you still have a huge heavy quad... should have started with a raptor =)

becuase i weighed mine with a full tank of fuel to be 463 pounds, there is no way it took 70 pounds off my quad by changing the battery and modifing the sub frame and a few other things.

if you look at thier dry weight specs. outlanders are actually quite light compared to almost everyone else if i remember right they are like 50 lbs. heavier then a honda foreman 450! plus they have a better power to weight ratio compared to most other 4x4s as well
