Fix your vocabulary bro. You got so many things wrong in this as far as facts and pronunciations go. Proxy, standard and HQ Prores are the same res as their originals. It's their bit rates that are different. Compressor 4 renders in 64 bit and a ton of other crap you said in your silly vocabulary and poor pronunciations is completely wrong. Welcome to the youtube generation everyone!
@JoffyMusic Transcoding when importing helps while working with the footage in FCPX. Optimized media will create large Apple Pro Res 422 files, but it plays back on your machine really well (since playing back H.264 requires processing power). Proxy is a version of Apple Pro Res 422 that is about a quarter of the size, thus it's even less taxing on the CPU when working. FCPX ALWAYS uses the original media to render, so transcoding is to make editing easier; it doesn't affect output.
@djoliverm So the step at 5:50 is not necessary? Did I understand this right? While still using the Proxy media I can render and the high quality media will be rendered?
Thank you for this information and please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks a lot. I particularly like how you keep showing the detail behind the UI. I always want to know where files live so I can cleanup / back etc. Again thanks.
Thanks for the video. It helps clear things up as I'm learning this new software. Question. When you want to work with proxy media on your laptop do you copy, drag and drop the proxies to your movies folder or do you have to copy the whole event ? How do I get the proxie media to my laptop without re-transcoding? THX - MJ

I got a question, whats the point of transcoding to optimized media? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Please respond.
