  • We have Scrub Jays all over here in Central Oregon and they are without a doubt my favorite bird. Their telltale call, however, though instantly recognizable, is incredibly annoying to most.

  • They are definitely cool-colored birds but you're right - their voice is anyting but that of a songbird! XD Thanks so much for stopping by =)

  • Several years ago when I was very discouraged I sat down by a tree in a park and there was this Scrub Blue jay standing on the ground less than six feet from me. For a few moments we just stared at each other and then I felt this feeling like a voice speaking to me, which said, “I don’t know how I will help you, but I will help you all I can.” Now when I see this type of bird it is more to me than just a bird, it represents something infinite in my life.

  • It's interesting how such simple events in nature can have such a profound effect in our lives sometimes. Glad you enjoyed the show! :-)

  • I love your video!!! The eyelashes are wonderful. I especially adore the mini feathers on his face. I watch scrub jays all day and wish like crazy I could afford a super telephoto lens, lol. I really appreciate your HD upload. ~Mary

  • Sometimes it's hard to appreciate these birds - they can be noisy and obnoxious at times - especially when harrassing a cat, but when you can see them really close up in good lighting like this, they are pretty amazing :-) Surprisingly, the lens on this camcorder is the stock built-in 10x optical zoom, but since I was only 12 feet from the bird, the zoom got me in REALLY close! :-)

  • Only one Scrub Jay comes around once a year.. and its usually during the Spring time in my part of San Francisco. Beautiful, blue creatures, these birds are!

  • That's pretty surprising since they're fairly common birds. Maybe there are more around but not as friendly as the one you usually see. Anyway, they are cool birds, when they're behaving themselves. :-)

  • This makes me sad, we used to have Blue Jays where I live, but I havent seen them in a long time :(

Ur video is encouraging! I love it 5*'s!

  • That's surprising - there is usually SOME variety of Jay just about everywhere. These Scrub Jays are Very common in the western US. In the higher areas, there are Steller's Jays, and in the eastern US, the Blue Jay is quite common. It seems unusual that you would lose your populations of them, unless the climate really changed a lot or your area has been developed and replaced with urban/suburban materials. Anyway, thanks for watching! :-)

  • Well I live in NY, and we used to have a lot of woods near use, then the building guys came. DUN DUN DUNNNN! Now, there isn't a lot of woods :( But, mabey I'm just not paying close enough attention. I'll let you know if I see one this spring or summer :) Blue Jays are my favorite birds!

  • Yea, that happened here too. The wildlands are much further away now but the birds still seem to come around anyway even though there are less of them. You should have those cool multi-colored eastern Blue Jays there in NY - which are very cool birds. We don't have those here. Good luck spotting them!

  • JC thanks, good work

    beautiful video

    Best regards
