Thanks. The note the guy reads at the end was found in Koichi's suit, so it describes his intentions before he loses his memory at the start of the film. He doesn't die at the end though. Koichi is scared of finding out who he really is, and what he was doing with a knife, so he runs away and tries to give himself a new identity.
