Stevie's so good he got the whole band to switch to left handed instruments, and switch back near the end - and you all thought James Brown was a tough taskmaster....
The left handed bass guitarist sounds ok to me. Funny that give a left hander a bass guitar and they can perform splendidly but give them a can a beans and a normal tin opener and they end up with a plaster:)
No one has mentioned about the great Trumpeter in here (best in any version Superstision...my opinion) but story back in the day was he was a hung like a moose porn star!! that is when he wasn't playing trumpet in the studio. Truth was that he only resembled the porn star. Wish I could remember their names but as I cannot I hope someone else recalls this and adds on. I just love this guys trumpet play.
@icebytes I'm not sure who that is, but it isn't james jamerson on bass.... usually stevie used Bob Babbitt, a white dude, who did alotta studio work equally as great as jamerson
@slugmojo My best guess would be Reggie McBride. Scott Edwards played with him around 1972 but isn't a lefty, and I've read forum posts by Scott saying that Reggie McBride followed him playing w/Stevie in 1973. After that it was Nathan Watts, who I think is still playing with Stevie, but I don't think Watts was there yet in 1973 when this was recorded. I don't know anything about McBride myself
@slugmojo If you check the video at 4:27s you´ll notice that the dude playing the bass looks absolutely nothing like James Jamerson, but unless Bob Babbit has grown an afro and been working down pit, I´d say that he´s also a black dude...
It's funny that I should have noticed all those "left handed" guitarists, but the first thing I took note of the the left handed conga player. I was trying to follow along and kept getting messed up when he was using his left hand when I was expecting his right. I was saying "this guy has got to be a left handed conga" After a while I saw the bassist "switch" guitars and then see Stevie play his backwards keyboard.
Damn I enjoyed growing up as a white teenager enjoying Stevie and all that the Motiwn artists offered. Can't be repeated people.......Going to have to buy the "REAL STUFF" from that era. You'll be glad you did.
Amazing that the bassist (and the rest of the band) looks like they're playing left-handed at the beginning of the video, and then the bassist is right-handed at the end.

Nothing like a rare version of an
