They are terrible. Their lyrics are overly cheesy, their music is just a clusterfuck of random scales, all they have no riffs aside from the boring powerchords they play. Awful.

Sure, their style has changed but they are still making amazing music. The new album for me ranks way higher than Ghost Opera, and only slightly lower than Epica and The Black Halo. Although, all pale in significance to Karma.

But Ghost Opera and the new album too, although nice albums, are nowhere near as good as the AMAZING albums that are The Fourth Legacy, Karma and Epica... Once again, just my opinion :)
I found Kamelot by Ghost Opera, and worked my way backwards and I find the older the album the better, which is odd I must say; but when I look at these albums they made early on and then at Poetry For The Poison Hearted, I ask myself, "what the hell are they doing?" I mean, Ghost Opera was bloody good still although a bit light for Kamelot. But PFTPH sounded as if they were trying to rip off Karnivool or something. which is not what i want to hear. =/
@Moufisto Yeah, it's messed up.. I dunno, I know it's fine for bands to change and explore new musical styles.. But it's for the worse in their case... Amorphis though, have now made 3 AMAZING albums in a row and are working on another.. Now THAT'S something to be excited for ;) I'll forget about Kamelot till they go back to their "roots". Change the name cause it's not Kamelot anymore :/
I looked at Amorphis's earlier stuff as well and thought "is this metal or rock?"
their older stuff lost me but Skyforger was brilliant, I totally agree!!
I have high hopes for Amorphis.
Although, It's odd how we have CoF, Dimmu and now Kamelot declining rapidly..

that's a good idea, ignore Kamelot till they find their way back, however you'll find a lot of people supporting their new stuff. -____-' we could be in for the long haul dude.

well the only bands I think that comes close to these two, is Sonata Arctica or maybe Heavenly, if you haven't checked them out yet give them a shot I reckon, especially Sonata.

Hmm there;s mourning after and descent of the archangel, but in the second it's only mentoned once, and in the first one it's in the chorus..mby there are others but those were the only ones i could think of atm.
I think it's in the live CD it's called....Oh yeah! Center of the universe! It's the song that introduced me to Kamelot! I think that is the one you are talking about. it has a really nice guitar solo.
