  • you should let it hatch by itself that's kinda inhumane

  • can the egg still hatch

  • the outer layer isnt broken ( the sack if you would like to call it that) soo the chick should be fine and that chick still looks like its moving and doin good to me :)

  • @TheTeeniexx the outer layer is broken (the chorion, not the hard shell) and it would not be fine. The embryo still moving, but eventually it will dissecate. I did that in my laboratory, but I wish I had done it like that. Instead I putted it in a plate, and in like 30 or 40 seconds it died. Pretty cool!!

  • if the egg has any type of crack or dent in it the baby will die!!!

  • poor chick :(

  • y did you break the egg?

  • you just killed a living being why?

  • 1 ewwwwww

2 wtf y the hell did u crack for entertainment or something

    3 thts distgusting

  • @thejordanmoore1 If you don't break the membrane containing the amniotic fluid then the chick won't die

  • ok, I need to know just how you did this. Our "homeschool science project has turned into 5 years of raising chickens. Now my middle schooler wants to try this! Please tell me and would love any info on your incunbator too. thanks

  • wtf is the black part?

  • @noobdude12 the embryo

  • Sitck

  • Myne looks like that from candel lighting :)

  • It's alive

  • I must know how you did this! I am about to open up some clear Maran eggs after 10 days of incubation to check why they are clear. In the slim chance that they contain viable embryos, I need to keep them alive! Life is precious!

  • Isn't it going to die know that you hatched a part of it?

  • @ThatGirl2111 Not if they don't break the amniotic sac

  • how do u window an egg?!?!?!? i need to know!

  • @iluvtacosandfood13 No, just 'cause the shell has been cracked doesn't mean the chick dies. Just as long as the egg doesn't move at all during development.

  • @iluvtacosandfood13 the chick didnt die , they said it lived

  • Is that eyeball functional yet?

  • Wow that explains a lot about whats actually going on inside the egg! Poor chick though :(

  • @RussBrit10 apparently he developed fully!

  • He wont respond this is from 2006 lol ill laugh if he does respond tho

  • how do you heat that? pls respond!

  • that is awesome! ive heard of opening the egg to watch the embryo develop, but how did you do it and still keep it from messing with the embryo?

  • That is really neat!

    Weird question:

When it came time for hatching, did the chick automatically exit from the breach in the shell or did it still try and peck its way out of the other side?

  • wow how do you make it see through? please tell

  • @CookaChicken You have to crack the egg using a knife.. but you do it so that you dont go through the membrane.. tbh its dangerous for the chicks cause it means they dont have the extra protection of a full egg as they develop.. xx

  • awesome ;)

  • How do you keep it alive after you open its shell???

  • @punksk8r1792 Dont try it, but they only cut open the top part of the shell. on the inside there is a casing thingy

  • @mycatpete Well, obviously I won't; I know I won't succeed...

  • It's cool if you say is true that you didn't even need to kill it. If so, what did you use as a replacement for the shell wall? plastic or a little glass piece? interesting..

  • the DNA is the most amazing coding system that contains all the information to build a chick

  • its still alive if the membrane of the egg is unbroken right?

  • Comment removed

  • @tehnoobwood no disease can still get in I learned that in Ag when we were hatching quails. But i guess it is possible

  • dude, awesome vid. but with a good camera it would look like NatGeo

  • I think I'm gonna puke...

  • did you put some type of see through chemical or something to protect the chick from bacterial growth?

  • @MrNelrockz God some people are dumb. The largest cell on earth is a(n) _ _ _. Tax dollars are at work, it's just the stupid fucking kids that can't comprehend shit.

That's 6th grade material right there...but you wouldn't know. Just put some 409 on that shit and its good to go.

  • OMG DIS IS SO COOl

  • easter egg ?? lol. amazing

  • How does the chicken developed fully?

Do you have a protocol in chicken embryo bioassay?

Cause I'm interested in using your protocol in making my scientific paper in my Developmental Biology class. I plan to use your protocol in testing the antiteratogenic effects of some medicinal plants.

Your response about this matter will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you:-)

  • @riemamarie haha i love people who get on here and try to act so smart....youre a fucking idiot....get a life! its a fucking egg

  • Dearest @slataaa,

I'm not kidding about this matter.

You are lucky cause your government can support the education of its citizens!

In our case, books and other learning materials are in scarcity and difficult to find.

As I have search in the YouTube, I found this video knowledgeable, so I post a comment, trying to contact it's up-loader or other people who know this stuff.

By the way, every people has its own opinion.

I'm sorry if you have mistakenly perceived what I'm trying to say.

    TY

  • would you open the belly of a woman to see her soon? no and then not to do it with animals

  • I bet it was extremely hard to remove the egg shell and not rip the membrane huh?

  • this is realy intersting thanks you for this video I want a chick too

  • woah... thats cool *-*

  • So Gross!.. but so interesting.

It´s like a car crash, you just cant help but stare at it! XD

  • That's so cruel

  • I wished I would have looked on here about an hour earlier. I thought the embryo was dead and opened the egg and it was very much alive. I didn't know it could live after a piece of the shell was removed. That's interesting to know and I will keep it in mind in the future. It was very interesting to see. God bless!

  • I shall name him Squishy.

    And he shall be mine.

    He shall be my Squishy.

  • @2cuteftw hahahah thats hillarious

  • @2cuteftw no hes my squishy

  • oh my god, such a great creation into one egg.

  • FREAKIN ANIMAL ABUSER

  • @0ggabOgga Eat any kind of meat? That makes you an animal murderer.

  • can it still live even if you do that ?

  • so this is the begining of KFC. i hope i dont get that chicken in my bucket.

  • is it still gonna live tho??

  • Wow, did you remove just enough of the shell to keep it incubating?

  • Wonder what would happen if some sick bastard put it in a Microwave

  • why would you even think of that?.......... are you the sick one...hmmm

  • hi i was wondering how will you turn in or wont you need to as it would come out ?

  • wow tht is soo cool lol

  • Ahh! It's moviing. Weird but cool. :D

  • you are mean why did u do that

  • to show people what it looked like and it is interesting

  • DID u bought this eggg from a store or a farm? I can bring back to life the grocery store chicken eggs right? how did u do it? please reply

  • The eggs that you buy at the store are not fertilized. There is no baby chick inside- and there never will be. Hens lay eggs whether or not they have mated. Unfertilized eggs are a product of a hens menstrual cycle. Hens are kept in a warehouse with no male cocks to mate with so all they lay are unfertilized eggs. This person probably has his own chickens- and was able to get a fertilized egg. It still doesn't make it okay to cut into it and tamper with a would-be chicken's safety.

  • Is it possible to turn back a chicken into a dinosaur?

  • Sure... o.O

  • DO u have a live chicken egg too?

  • yes, certain researchers are trying that now.

  • There are fertilzed eggs that make it into stores. About 10 years ago, my daughter began peeling a hard boiled egg. I bought the eggs at Kroger-a big grocery store chain in case you've never heard of it. She freaked OUT because there wasno white, shiny egg inside the shell. A baby chick was inside (I didn't see it)

and she saw it's eye, beak and wing. She screamed and threw it outside. I told Kroger and they thought I was crazy. It did happen! My daughter is grown now and won't touch an egg!

  • thts really funny haha

  • the eggs they sell at grocery stores are unfertile, these are from a farm and have chicks in them

  • You can't use eggs fromt he store to incubate them o anything, most of them are not fertile, and they get too cold to make it anyway, if they are, You may be able to get eggs froma farm, but they either have to be fresh lain, and from a chicken that's with a rooster to be fertile, but make sure they're eggs to hatch, and not eggs to eat.

    -Hope this helps.

  • did it hatch ?

  • ur a dick

  • having a crack egg, only increase the chance of infection, but there a chance it could hatch lol

  • And this chicken still hatched even after having its egg carved up?

  • Did the baby chick still hatch??????/

  • of curse not, with just a small crack the embyo dies inside the egg.

  • Not always true. I've hatched eggs that were cracked.

For science, many times embryos are kept in sterile environments. The only reason an embryo will die is if its blood vessels are ruptured, the temperature is incorrect, or if it is infected by a virus or bacterium. The eggshell is simply protection from the elements. That said, most won't be able to hatch if they are "windowed" like this, or grown in an artificial environment.

  • this is amazing... did you do this in class?

  • Yes. Embryology and developmental biology.

  • poor chicken. it cant hatch. because when you cut a open window on the egg, the chicken cant take the outside air and light

  • The window is open for seconds at a time.

  • why would u do that! now it can't hatch GOSH

  • yes it can.

  • Yea, why would you do that? Now it can't hatch, so we won't be able to slaughter and eat it when it's fully grown. I'm sure some of these people are pro-choice, but they're more worried about a chicken embryo. Cool video. And I'm a meat eating pro-choice athiest, just to shed some light on my comments and sarcasm.

  • Finally! A rational thought! Bless you (even if you are an atheist :P)!

  • I don't mind being blessed, even a God bless you doesn't bother me. I'm not one of those athiest against crosses or "In God We Trust". While I don't believe in a God, I can understand the important role the BELIEF in God plays in peoples lives. If you watch the show Lost, the button metaphor is a great example of that. If you don't watch Lost, I suggest doing so right now.

  • HAHAHA!!! Good one!

    I'm an Athest too! LOLOLOL

  • @Back2BackJack

You crazy? I then Don't want eat arh crazy!

  • @Back2BackJack nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooo it can hatch

  • @ITZZEXYLEXY YES, it did hatch into a fully developed chicken!!!

  • @bunniboo1414 YAY

  • wow you killed it coolto see the embryo but it sucks that it didnt live for us to look,

  • I did not kill it. The chicken developed fully.

  • How?

  • how

  • Comment removed

  • @coenzyme Really?! I accidentally did that too my chicks too see if they were till alive!

  • @coenzyme really? it lived? coool!!!

  • @coenzyme

    It did??

  • @coenzyme it looks like it.

  • @christinewlf Christine, if you're careful enough you can remove the shell & not the protective skin on the inside, & not damage the growth period of the chick.

  • eww its all wet and slimy.. like a mermaid or a sea monkey or something!!!! eww

  • did it hatch?

  • is that chick alive?

  • yes

  • So wait, the embryo is still alive with hat open? Wow!

  • they feel bad about killing animals but they dont feel bad about killing unborn babies. Geez that world is twist

  • @butuan97 hey, if you put millions of babies in tight cages with each other, hung them upside-down, and slit their throats, to ship them off to some mcdonalds where a young boy will eat half of it and throw the rest on the ground, I would be just as opposed. I eat eggs, im not all that opposed to it either, and i support a womans choice over her body and well-being. Eating one of a million fully grown fed and bred to slaughter cows, chickens, and the fourth smartest animal (pig) is different.

  • @tHECOMINGRACE thats your belief.. I respect that now respect mine...

    peace

  • @butuan97 i can dig that. apologies for any disrespect

  • @tHECOMINGRACE geeh your twisted..

  • @tHECOMINGRACE boo- fucking- hoo i hunt does that mean im wasteful? nope i eat what i kill

  • @butuan97 The chick wasn't killed, it developed fully into a chicken the person who made the video said.

  • @butuan97 the chicken was still alive

  • @butuan97 ANIMALS ARE SO MUCH MORE IMPOTANT(:

  • @butuan97 fuck yeah!!!!!

  • omgggg how did you do that?? its so cute!

  • Woah, how'dya preserve it?!

  • does it die now

  • Vegatarians are just being wusses. It's how nature is, as omnivores, we are ment to eat both plants and other animals.

  • whoah howd you do that?

  • I think if it would be safer for the chick idf you just candle the egg. you could still see the embryo move.

  • yes, but this is easier than constantly handling the egg. Chicks are very sturdy.

  • Do you actually breed Poultry, or have any knowledge of the suject?, beacuse you would know this is a very bad thing to do.

  • Only hobby poultry.

You know what else is bad to do? Lock chickens away in tiny cages for their entire life, never being able to naturally fulfil fundamental instinctive desires.

Thats something I've seen some poultry farmers do, so I wouldn't lay all my stock on the opinions of farmer's alone.

  • You really don't know what your talking about. i'm not talking about battery farmed chickens, the whole topic was about this video!

    stick to the point!

  • The point is chicken welfare-its related.

I was pointing out that people who work in the industry (Poultry breeders) don't always act in the best interests of their stock.

In an experiment such as this, the chicks interests are (sadly) secondary to the result they hope to achieve. Such is the way science works- we humans didn't get where we are without making huge sacrafices concerning other species, sounds cruel? It is. But I bet people would rather keep our medical system than change that.

  • did it hatch? and why does it move? its so interesting... but did u harm it at all?

  • how the hell??? wont it dry out like really quick?? surely this cant stay alive for that long?

  • a special tape is put over the gap.

  • Why the hell would you do this?

Even slight cracks in eggs affect the development of the chick, bacteria will get in.

You must be really stupid to do this.

    It's clear you are.

  • Uh, no. Its studies liek this that have allowed humanity to develop as far as we have.

Surely you don't think humans fought their way to the top without making sacrafices?

besides, chicks are very sturdy. It was studies performed on chick embryos that led to the discovery of such treatments as IVF

  • Oh thankyou Dr. Treemeadow, the pinacle of scientific knowledge.

  • I am a science student. I don't claim to know anymore than I have been taught.

  • Beautiful

  • Thats totally true. As long as the males are kept away from the females, the eggs will contain nothing at all hence being infertile.

    ^_^

  • Sorry, this was the reply to skaterchic979

  • i know, the chick will hatch just fine! my parents friends have a chicken that doesnt get enough calcium so she lays "soft" eggs, and they offer just as mutch protection as the chick in the egg in the movie, so quit crying about it!

  • Someone makes a movie of a chick egg, which most of us eat once per week or more, and everyone says it's cruel. But the average woman will have 1 abortion in her lifetime and that's a little easier to relate to, A PERSON! Oh, and by the way, you CAN'T live if you're aborted. BUT IT"S A CHOICE, not a child. So, don't sweat the chicken. You were just going to EAT it anyway. Don't copulate if you don't want to have a baby. Don't kill your future children's brothers and sisters.

  • IT NOT KILLING IT!You can do this and let it form in a plastic bag.You people don't a thing about this the ones putting the bad comments

  • I know, everyone thinks this is cruel!

  • Three weeks ago YOU posted a comment saying the chick can live like this, BUT it is still very cruel. Hmmm....

  • oh my god you're so nieve. no they CANT hatch like that. with the insides exsposed like that the chick inside WILL get bacteria inside the egg from the humidity and environment in an incubator. you know there is a REASON for shells -_-

  • uhh, ya it can, wow, u prolly dont know a thing about bird eggs, because if you did know anything, than u would know that it can live like that. it just needs to stay in a plastic bag until it hatches

  • ok,It will hatch like that, besides its just plain stupid that you say that, because things can get in the egg even when you do have the hole shell on it.Don't speak if you don't know what you're saying

  • okay hmm, lets see. i had an egg that cracked just a little bit from my OWN ducks outside. it was a tiny chip of the shell! NOT the membrane. 3 days after incubating the egg the egg began to ROT! black blotches formed in the egg from just a LITTLE cut in the egg SHELL! i KNOW my facts before i say shit like this. why dont you do a little research you'reself asshole.

  • omg did u really try that with out looking it up,how to do it.thats bad,you just did it without knowing how that horrible!you probaly cut thevains tht are connect to the layer b4 the she,if you do it cafefully enough it will work also things will die because SOME OF MY BIRDS DIED IN THEIR EGGS WITH IT CLOSED!next time, dont do that LOOK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ill~~

  • if you shine a light threw the shell you can still see the chick you dont have to do this the poor thing will probaly die

  • 4 sho

  • What the hell is going on here? Why did you break the egg just to put it on youtube? How cruel! Shame on you! My family hatch chicks and they are the cutest bundles of fluff.... I can't imagine uploading something as terrible as this, making this animal suffer.

  • you know, the egg can hatch like that...

  • I know it can. But would it not be better to allow the chick to hatch naturally the way it was supposed to be rather than cut the egg open and put the animal in danger?

  • As long as the embryo is kept inside it's membrane sac, it's fine. This is what scientists do for projects in school. They cut open the eggs to show how the chick grows day by day. I'm sure the chick in the video hatched perfectly well.

    ^_^
