Never quote the constitution to a liberal, they just don't get it! The whole concept of limited government is foreign to them. They can not understand that a government that can give you everything can take it away and they don't understand the government produces nothing , anything it give you was stolen from someone else by force, I think they call that armed robbery, If I am not mistaken. basic healthcare is a right (in the 21st century, probably not in the 1800s), but advanced heatlhcare coverage is optional. just as education is a right. A government healthcare option is like a public school system: everyone has access to school, but some people choose to pay more to go to better schools. with a govn't option, everyone has access to healthcare, but you can choose to pay more for better coverage

@msammas The problem is that INSURANCE isn't RIGHT, and the "healthcare" legislation if you actually read it has very little to do with healthcare. And since the government "option" is subsidized by everybody through taxes without the majority's consent and doesn't need to show profit, it's calculated to drive those who DO have to show profit to survive out of business, especially since this federal legislation requires expanded types of coverage for these private businesses. Do your research!!

Not true. The increased competition due to the government option competing with private insurance option will lead to insurance companies changing the insurance plans in order to keep their customers. Its basic economics. One group provides decent coverage (the gov't) for a low cost, if the others want to stay in business, they'll have to find a way to offer better coverage for an even lower cost. And the benefits of this will be that small businesses will pay less for insurance in the future.

The people who "have the option" to pay more for different coverage are ALSO paying for this! INSURANCE is not a right! Even before medicare and medicaid hospitals never refused to treat those who needed it. Read the actual legislation and the openly stated motives of those who sponsored it to drive out private insurance and hand power to the government. EDUCATE yourself.

Everyone pays for public schools, but others choose to go to better schools because they can afford to do so even though they still pay for public ones. Are private schools in decline?
