BTW, I Was Born In 1988

  • hahahahhahhah!

  • "Oh dear. This...this is really silly."

    I just about died laughing.

  • Was there ever a monsterpiece theatre sketch called "The Importance of being Ernie"?

cause if not, there should've been!

  • @athull08 why is that?

  • @Muppetbro1234 Just because I think it would be another very clever play on words.

Like this sketch, which is based on "Little House on the Prairie" by Laura Ingalls Wilder, they could do another one, based on "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde.

Two real life books, with the titles modified to include the name of a Sesame street character.

  • Odd, when I was little, whenever I heard "Little House on the Prairie," I used to think of Prairie Dawn.

  • "No, wait, Prairie, me still hungry, you got maybe a bungalow?" LOL! They don't make kid shows like this anymore!

  • I love Cookie fixing his hair at the beginning. Classic!

  • 1:46 -I thought he was going to explain how to put a little house in something-he gets it right away! LOL!

Thanks for posting this and refreshing my memory, I can see how rude CM can be sometimes.

  • Cookie Monster best story teller ever!!! lol

  • Will you can pot a little house on and under Parire, but what it look like if you pot a little housein Parire?

  • no problem prarie! ahm ahm ahm!

  • I wonder what Laura Ingalls Wilder would say about this

  • "Oh dear. This is really silly."

    ROTFL!

  • I like how Prairie said the little house under her was even sillier. I did not think so.

  • "Prairie wait, me still hungry you got maybe a bungalow?"

    LOL!!!!! Priceless!

  • it's always those last comments that get me!!! heehee!

  • I remember this! xD I can't believe it only just occurred to me to look it up.

  • Best part little house in Alistar Cookie I love Cookie Monster. 'Me still hungry do you have bungalow?' lol

  • you're british arent you ;)

  • This is also the first time that we see Prairie's feet.

  • I wonder what happened to Prairie's father. I've seen her mother...

  • When did we see Prarie's mother? ("Mrs. Dawn"?...)

  • We saw her first in "Sesame Beginnings", then later in "Elmo's Potty Time".

  • ROFL. TY for the post.

  • Was this the debut of Prairie Dawn, perhaps, hence her coming to have that name? "Me still hungry, you got maybe a bungalow?" Is there no end to the wonderful quotes on Sesame Street?

  • No, Prairie Dawn has been around since the early 70s.

  • Okay, thanks. Do you know from what era the "Monsterpiece Theater" segments are, or at least when they began?

  • The pilot for this was actually "Upstairs Downstairs" around 1978. But lots of people claimed that "Me Claudius" came first because it didn't have the union jack opening. But I disagree with that. Upstairs Downstairs was older than Me Claudius when you compare the two of them.

  • this is so classic brings back memories from my childhood

  • Hey, Prairie, what if the house was made of ginger bread??

  • You got maybe a bungalow??? RFLMAO

  • that was my favorite part too. lmao!

  • No no no, now it is little house AROUND Alistair Cookie.

  • "You cannot put a little house in me."

How did Prairie mean? Did she not understand and say that it would be impossible, or did she know that Cookie intended for her to eat it and was refusing?

  • I think because it was impossible. Can you imagine Prairie eating the little house? That would give you indigestion.

  • True. Though I do remember Prairie Dawn eating the letter H, so you never know.

  • Well that was a mistake.

  • True that.

  • @Garrettk41 Is it me or did Prairie Dawn sound older when she said "this is really silly"

  • @cstoczyn Yes she did, at least to me, it's amazing how Fran Brill does that with her voice

  • @muppetlover16 Long Live Fran Brill!!!!

  • @Garrettk41: The comment has more than one meaning. Both of those statements--about it literally being impossible were it a real house or that she was refusing to eat the food house--are both meanings for the line. But so too, is subtext, but that's too risque for the kiddos and probably would be reserved for yet another inside joke between Fran Brill (Prairie Dawn) and Frank Oz/Eric Jacobson (Cookie Monster) off-set, given the banned "I Want a Monster For My Friend" skit, among other things.

  • Little House in Alistair Cookie

  • I love the end of this one where Cookie Monster eats the house. I also like the closeup of the house on Prairie's head.
