I read the description, so im going to say the USMC is the best fighting regular force in the world. Most nations today use their Marines as special forces, thats been a tradition dating back for centuries. Even at one point, the Continental Marines (USMC of 1775) were used as SF to raid british ships and armories. For another example, the Marines of the Dutch, Spanish, and British recieve training beyond regular trooops. the Phillipine Marines though was a mistake in the video -_-

The Royal marines go through the toughest and longest training out of any infantry in the whole of NATO, same with the British army and for that Britain is top dog on producing the best trained soldiers and marines in the world.
I'm British and I think the royal marines are brilliant, partly because my brother is a serving officer, but I have to say that the Dutch marines have just as long and impressive history as the RM, and I'm glad to see that the Americans have been put in their place (no offence meant but on all the other videos they put themselves on top)

It is common knowledge that the USMC helps train the Phillipine Marine Corps, so the USMC is better then them because we are the ones who train them.

@BritishArmyPfc well what units did you serve with that were US Marines. The entry requirement is a 1 and a half mile run in about 12 minutes if my memory is right with like 45 sit ups and 3 pull ups. ya the entry requirement is easy, but you have to leave boot camp doing a 3 mile run in under 28 minutes with 3 to 20 pull ups and 45 to 100 sit ups and you are scored. if you don't reach the minimum score you fail and have to try again. but after boot the real training begins.
@JimmieDeMarco The British Army entry requirement is 10 min 1.5 mile run, 45 press ups, sit ups, 6 pull ups, series of command tasks, and by the end of 28 weeks of training, you must be perfect at drill, and run and complete a 30 mile quick march, in under 8 and a half miles, not to mention pre deployment training. I don't know what unit they were, we were sharing camp bastion with them last year.
my older brother was in the british army for years and he said that he thought the american soldiers were some of the best in the world until he worked with them, he told me that when they were in training the brits could do EVERYTHING better than them...

Hmmmm I'd say the Royal Marines are the best trained, but I think that the U.S.Marines are better suited for large scale warfare as they are a larger force. Also they have proven theirselves in battles like Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Chosin, Khe San, and Fallujah(spelling?). Not that these other Marine Military Forces don't have their own battle to be proud of. I'm just saying the U.S.M.C. has proven itself in the past 100 years.
The british are the only ones who didnt copy from the Americans. We developed our gear and uniforms before everyone else did, the Phillipeans were an american colony so they litearly have all of our stuff, they just changed the camo. The Spanish army if uve ever seen it they use alot of American stuff as well, cause its friggen good! I saw they were using an amtrac based off american design. and at 2:01 you can see how the Netherlands looks to Americas old stuff.
some alright comments and points for those of you who think the USMC should be nearer to the top but as some of you have stated the best your corps has to offer is MARSOC which you have said is the only unit in your corps that undertakes COMMANDO training with a small percent pass rate. Now the best that the Royal Marine Commandos have to offer are Mountain Leaders (ML's) that actually pride themselves on having a selection on par/harder than our special forces. Do the math!!!
The USMC is better than most of these forces probably tied with the British Royal Marines because the USMC has been the backbone and spearhead of the US military for the last hundred years. plus the USMC has the best marksmen in the world in its scout sniper division. Also the USMC MARSOC spec ops unit is quickly rising to one of the top special forces units in the world. But the Royal Marines Train ALL recruits as commandos unlike the USMC who only gives their spec ops units commando training
us marines rankes 2nd. right after the uk. we have more people with crapy equip. we do more with less and we train with royal marines. they even admit that our entry to a building is more tatical. besides with out the us marines in ww2 you would be speaking german!! nuff said

This might because, to become a Royal Marine you have to Complete COMMANDO training. Which is ALOT tougher than regular military training. USMC is currently the best because we currently have some of the most modern day experience. anyone who has ever actually been in knows that you can train all day in the most rigorous environments but nothing will beat actual experience. its why every time we cross trained with the RMC they would take on our tactics because it was simply more sound. the battlefield is ALWAYS changing. by the time it gets back to training, its changed.

The British Royal Marine Commandos may have the best training on the planet and the highest standards of fitness. However due to the sheer size of the USMC of 300,000 Marines (3x greater than the British Army) then the place of 1st has to go to them. Simply because of their numbers they are the most uncontested Marine force.

I would personnally say the Royals are closer to special forces whereas like you say the USMC are just infantry. But having 300,000 of them makes them the much more capable force. In terms of amphibious assaults etc.

U.S marines have been the best marine corps since 1775 because they are better trained than others, they have more experience and have the best weapons to use. they are definitely better than the British marines, the British don't know anything about marines but they have the SAS which are very elite and good.
@montenlsn british marines were formed way before the us. there training is more intense and longer. thats just basic then you go on to specialize. and mountain lead course is considered to be as hard or harder then sf training

RMC Officer training is now like 64 and RM have to specialise aswell which takes longer and the sniper/mountain leader is similar to SF training.
This seems fairly accurate as the US Marines are in the correct rank, they may be bigger in size in comparison to the Royal Marines and Netherland's Marines however the US, Philippine's and Spanish Marines are not trained Commandos which are known worldwide as one of the most elite forces in the world.In conclusion i must point out the the Royal Marines Commandos should be clearly first and i give evidence of this from the Falklands War of 1982 when they clearly ended a war unlike the US.

The USMC is the best because they have the best funding the best tech the best training and because the are supported by 18,234 military aircraft and 2,384 naval vessels. Their also happens to be 198,505 of them as of september 2008.
British royal marines is from 1664 and the Korps Mariniers from 1665 and I think it is correct that those two are number 1. Because they are the best and have the best training in the world
The British Royal marines are one of the oldest, well trained and well adapted to different circumstances, you may argue that the US marines are better, but experience is the best way to learn. The US marines are good, but so are a lot of others

@93niico Actually rmc hacve the toughest requirements look at duration of training 32 weeks day after day physical training every minute your awake from 6am-11pm your training for 32 weeks. Look at the training they do its alot more extreme than USMC.

Royal Marines are an amphibious force while USMC have a different approach we are allies but Americans need to understand Britain have been fighting before they ever existed and some inventions and Military do have advantages. For example British have better infantry but U.S have better airforce and Navy.

I was going for Royal Marine Commando, I'm 17 in a few days, and I changed my mind and I take Aeronautics/aerospace engineering in college, working on Plane and Helicopter/Weapons and Missiles Designs as well as repairs, and after 4 years i'll be joining the RAF to be a Battlefield Engineer if not then in a RAF Garrison/Barracks somewhere in the UK, I wish I stuck with the Royal Marine Commandos but I don't think I'm fit enough for it, and I have penitential and Deterministic for it.

but the thing is you americans spend a lot more money on defense. So also many people who arent educated can apply for the USMC. In countries like the Netherlands there is only a small amount of money for defense. So what they do is only accept educated people to join this "elite force" wich make the standards of the dutch marines much higher. this makes them more elite cuz they are at least smarter.

Listen. The USMC deserves the top spot. sure the RMC has a longer boot camp but they only focus on single man spec op type missions. The USMC however spends its time perfecting marksmanship and team work values. And we must NOT forget the marines unbroken winning streak. From the American Civil War, to WW1, WW2 Iwo Jima, speaking of which how did the RMC do on Iwo Jima? Oh, that's right they weren't on Iwo Jima. Inchon Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Operation Phantom Fury.
I dont know what you like to call a "winning streak" but its also a fact that the USMC lost the most men of all Marine forces together. And you might consider that almost every BIG operation was joined by many other forces to gain victory! The thing you Americans almost always cover the frontline has more to do with youre political leaders than the fact that youre USMC is superior to others.
@parfemarfe1 i forget the name of the US Marines first battle in WW1 i think its Bellows Wood. The US finally attacked the germans in 1918 the last year of the war, the marines and General Pershing refused the listen to British hard won adivce and lost 10 000 men. Good job. The RM did fight the japs stupid, they did many classic commando raids in their canoo's. I'll give you 10/10 for effort though mate

The USMC has less training than the standard infantryman in the british army let alone compared to the 32 week long training course for the Royal marines, like its been said yes the USMC has far better equipment and far more numbers but you pit 15 royals marines against 15 marines from the USMC which is extremely unlikely to happen, i believe royal marines would win it hands down, thats down to superior training.

USMC needs to be top 3. Reasons: Chesty Puller, Chosin Reservoir, Pacific campaign in WWII, current effective force, amount of engagements world-wide, Marine 1st Force Recon, Im done now but there are many more reasons.
@here882 Your point is valid. However, the Dutch have not been a makor military power in over 200 years, and their battle experience is minor compared to the British and Americans. This is not to detract from their courage and skill. The Americans and British marine forces have simply fought on a larger scale and have more experience in terms of modern warfare.
Most countries with a Marine Corps are based of the USMC, except for like the UK, countries wouldn't base their MC off of the 5th best, they base it off the #1, and they did. especially the phillipenes.....they took there entire MC layout directly from the USMC handbook, so they deffinantly wouldn't be better.
The fact remains that the USMC and the Royal Marines are the most battle hardened and combat tested in the world, going back over two centuries. No other marine force has anywhere near their records of experience and success. The Royal Marines are a specialized amphibious shock troop and commando force. The USMC is used mostly for conventional amphibious warfare. Both are the best at what they do, and comparison is unfair to both.

@rexboy6 Considering their record of defeats in Mexico, Indo-China, and Algeria, I would dispute that. Their record in WWII was mixed, but the Free French units did contribute to victory in North Africa. Of course, many of those victtories were against the Italians.

Men, all "marine corps" are meant for amphibious operations thats what the word "marine" stands for (to operate mostly from the water). I got to say the dutch have some hard-ass marines too. The dutch marine corps is one of the oldest (founded in 1665). And they had great succeses too; for example: we invaded Great Britain in 1688 and succeeded to overtrown their king and replaced it with one of our own. It's history yes but still its remarkable for such a tiny country!

The entry requirement is a 1 and a half mile run in about 12 minutes if my memory is right with like 45 sit ups and 3 pull ups. ya the entry requirement is easy, but you have to leave boot camp doing a 3 mile run in under 28 minutes with 3 to 20 pull ups and 45 to 100 sit ups and you are scored. if you don't reach the minimum score you fail and have to try again. but after boot the real training begins.

@JimmieDeMarco The British Army entry requirement is 10 min 1.5 mile run, 45 press ups, sit ups, 6 pull ups, series of command tasks, and by the end of 28 weeks of training, you must be perfect at drill, and run and complete a 30 mile quick march, in under 8 and a half miles, not to mention pre deployment training. I don't know what unit they were, we were sharing camp bastion with them last year.

Hmmmm I'd say the Royal Marines are the best trained, but I think that the U.S.Marines are better suited for large scale warfare as they are a larger force. Also they have proven theirselves in battles like Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Chosin, Khe San, and Fallujah(spelling?). Not that these other Marine Military Forces don't have their own battle to be proud of. I'm just saying the U.S.M.C. has proven itself in the past 100 years.

The british are the only ones who didnt copy from the Americans. We developed our gear and uniforms before everyone else did, the Phillipeans were an american colony so they litearly have all of our stuff, they just changed the camo. The Spanish army if uve ever seen it they use alot of American stuff as well, cause its friggen good! some alright comments and points for those of you who think the USMC should be nearer to the top but as some of you have stated the best your corps has to offer is MARSOC which you have said is the only unit in your corps that undertakes COMMANDO training with a small percent pass rate. The USMC is better than most of these forces probably tied with the British Royal Marines because the USMC has been the backbone and spearhead of the US military for the last hundred years. plus the USMC has the best marksmen in the world in its scout sniper division. Also the USMC MARSOC spec ops unit is quickly rising to one of the top special forces units in the world. But the Royal Marines Train ALL recruits as commandos unlike the USMC who only gives their spec ops units commando training

However due to the sheer size of the USMC of 300,000 Marines (3x greater than the British Army) then the place of 1st has to go to them. This seems fairly accurate as the US Marines are in the correct rank, they may be bigger in size in comparison to the Royal Marines and Netherland's Marines however the US, Philippine's and Spanish Marines are not trained Commandos which are known worldwide as one of the most elite forces in the world.In conclusion i must point out the the Royal Marines Commandos should be clearly first and i give evidence of this from the Falklands War of 1982 when they clearly ended a war unlike the US.

I was going for Royal Marine Commando, I'm 17 in a few days, and I changed my mind and I take Aeronautics/aerospace engineering in college, working on Plane and Helicopter/Weapons and Missiles Designs as well as repairs, and after 4 years i'll be joining the RAF to be a Battlefield Engineer if not then in a RAF Garrison/Barracks somewhere in the UK, I wish I stuck with the Royal Marine Commandos but I don't think I'm fit enough for it, and I have penitential and Deterministic for it.

And to add we still are winning and wont stop till every last scumbag insurgent is dead! What about scout snipers? 13 extra weeks to literally perfect marksmanship. And just to say, the RMC is normally a spec ops military force when force recon training is another 9 weeks of hell. All in all the USMC has with all camps combined 12+13+9=? OVER 32 WEEKS OF TRAINING to be known as "THE BEST OF THE BEST". so deal with it UK. Or do i have to remind you of us kicking you buts only about 20 years away.

FACT the USA has never won a war on its own. its also fact and known between soldiers in both the marine units of our countries that the RM basic training is the longest and hardest of any marine course. why do americans always try to argue against this when the info is readily available? The Royal marines are classed as an elite unite, they invented 'commando's' and are the original 'Green Berets.'

Listen. The USMC deserves the top spot. sure the RMC has a longer boot camp but they only focus on single man spec op type missions. The USMC however spends its time perfecting marksmanship and team work values. And we must NOT forget the marines unbroken winning streak. From the American Civil War, to WW1, WW2 Iwo Jima, speaking of which how did the RMC do on Iwo Jima? Oh, that's right they weren't on Iwo Jima. Inchon Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Operation Phantom Fury.

I dont know what you like to call a "winning streak" but its also a fact that the USMC lost the most men of all Marine forces together. And you might consider that almost every BIG operation was joined by many other forces to gain victory! The thing you Americans almost always cover the frontline has more to do with youre political leaders than the fact that youre USMC is superior to others.

@parfemarfe1 i forget the name of the US Marines first battle in WW1 i think its Bellows Wood. The US finally attacked the germans in 1918 the last year of the war, the marines and General Pershing refused the listen to British hard won adivce and lost 10 000 men. Good job. The RM did fight the japs stupid, they did many classic commando raids in their canoo's. I'll give you 10/10 for effort though mate

first of all,usmc is a great military force that i am proud to serve.we also have to give repect were respect goes.the rmc is a great force that has fought along with the u.s.m.c.There 32 week training must realy pay off but the u.s.m.c has proved that they can finish the mission.Better trained doesnt aleays mean bette orahhhhhhhhhhhhh

And to add to that The royal marines started in 1664 as a naval protection service, nevertheless still a marine force therefore coming before the USMC which i believe was originally founded in 1775? so to blow the top comment out of the water, no the USMC weren't the first.

The USMC has less training than the standard infantryman in the british army let alone compared to the 32 week long training course for the Royal marines, like its been said yes the USMC has far better equipment and far more numbers but you pit 15 royals marines against 15 marines from the USMC which is extremely unlikely to happen, i believe royal marines would win it hands down, thats down to superior training.

@here882 Your point is valid. However, the Dutch have not been a makor military power in over 200 years, and their battle experience is minor compared to the British and Americans. This is not to detract from their courage and skill. The Americans and British marine forces have simply fought on a larger scale and have more experience in terms of modern warfare.

Most countries with a Marine Corps are based of the USMC, except for like the UK, countries wouldn't base their MC off of the 5th best, they base it off the #1, and they did. especially the phillipenes.....they took there entire MC layout directly from the USMC handbook, so they deffinantly wouldn't be better.

The fact remains that the USMC and the Royal Marines are the most battle hardened and combat tested in the world, going back over two centuries. No other marine force has anywhere near their records of experience and success. The Royal Marines are a specialized amphibious shock troop and commando force. The USMC is used mostly for conventional amphibious warfare. Both are the best at what they do, and comparison is unfair to both.

@rexboy6 Considering their record of defeats in Mexico, Indo-China, and Algeria, I would dispute that. Their record in WWII was mixed, but the Free French units did contribute to victory in North Africa. Of course, many of those victtories were against the Italians.

Men, all "marine corps" are meant for amphibious operations thats what the word "marine" stands for (to operate mostly from the water). I got to say the dutch have some hard-ass marines too. The dutch marine corps is one of the oldest (founded in 1665). And they had great succeses too; for example: we invaded Great Britain in 1688 and succeeded to overtrown their king and replaced it with one of our own. It's history yes but still its remarkable for such a tiny country!

USMC, Royal Marines, Russian Naval Infanteri or Swdish amphibian battalion for exampel is 4 diferent typ of troops, 4 diferent tasks.
All are equally good at what they do and no one can make the other's job.
