  • Yeah, it was on a Mustang... I last pulled 352whp and 400wtq on the same Dyno albeit with an aftermarket Turbo and Methanol. There's a video for that posted above as a Video Response.

  • 3" Catted Downpipe, Catback Exhaust, 255lph Fuel Pump were my only Mods. Tune was done through an Accessport.

  • just got my my05 stg 2 sti tuned at Dyno authorty in redmond wa. my mods are an aps frontmont cobb short ram, ap v.2 cobb tbe, and i made 286 awhp and 310ftlbs trq on a conservative tune tim does a good job there

  • I put out the same numbers on my 06 with a cobb catted dp and a protune. it was a mustang or "heartbreaker" dyno. on another dyno it would put out around 300whp and 340 wtq

  • What y'all must understand is that every dyno model / manufacturer etc. will read a different number. Pure and simple.

    Horsepower is a relative number, and Mustang Dyno's (of which I only know of 2 shops which have these in the entire NW) read very, very conservatively.

    Comparing what someone puts down on a Dynojet, to what some puts down on a Mustang... Is apples to oranges.

    Don't blame the tune, or even the car... Blame the Dyno for not reading an "inflated" number.

  • I just had my STi tuned at PRE, got TXS TBE, K&N Intake, TXS MBC and I put out 300 WHP - 335 WTQ. Bobby does a really good job a tuning cars at PRE.

  • i have a turbo back and a ported stock turbo on my 07 and tuned by AMS of Chicago to 273.90Wheel HP and 321.36 ft Torque and thats SAE Smoothing.

  • Man i got a conservative tune through PDX and i threw way bigger numbers up and i am only running a 2.0. I dont know what jarreds problem was that day but it seems like i got my moneys worth and you got robbed. Well check out my video to check out my numbers.

  • I know an M5 is not an M3 but in the latest 0-60 mag it broke down all the maintenance and cost issues on the M3. It seems like every few thousand miles you have to get something replaced or maintained which is not cheap for the M series.

  • Ok I have to step in, an STI will not beat a new M5, no way in hell, If an sti can get smoke by a 335i(it can there are vids on youtube and e90fanaticsdotcom) then a car with 500hp can beat it. and most people dont buy an STi for many reasons, one it cost a lot more than just a wrx impreza, and two do you have any idea the insurance premiums are on that car? might as well get an M3 for a bit more, and a lot more performance wise imo. I love subs, but those previous statements are just facts.

  • are you talking from a roll or from a stop? A RWD car will NEVER beat an AWD car from a stop... There just simply isn't enough traction, even if your tires are 10 inches wide all the power in the world doesn't matter. But if you're talking from a roll, yeah the M5's V10 would destroy an STI.

  • Insurance premiums? It's an AWD, 4-door, 5 seater with 300 hp. It's got a better chance at cheaper insurance than 90% of sports/performance cars around, which tend to have 2 doors, less than 5 seats, RWD and as much or more HP.

  • The high insurance cost on this car has very little to do with the fact that its a 300hp turbocharged car. This car has a very high difficulty of repair rating of 25. The average car has a rating of 15-17. If the vehicle is wrecked, its very expensive to repair. This is the reason for the high insurance. My wrx insurance is $150/month. Clean record.

  • An STi is around $700 a month, thats what I pay. And yes it's possible for an M5 to beat an STi, like Daniel said, if it was rolling, but at a stop, there is no possible way for the car to beat it. And like I said, an M5 is double that of an STi, you do the math, I paid 32. M5 with a V10 = 65 - 80 I think. And also, i'm talking about a stock STi, but you throw 2 grand into the car, and it can beat a M5 from start rolling, anywhere.

  • Sorry, kinda wrong there. 2 grand barely gets you coilovers, let along engine management and all supporting mods to kill an M5. M3s and M5s are top end cars, the STi falls off towards the top end with the stock VF39. An M5 would eat it up all day long! And this is coming from an STi owner.

  • Heh, you're funny. Tell me your member number and we'll see who the n00b is. It cost a lot to get the STi with a VF39 into the low 12s with tuning and proper fuel. If you throw in a bigger turbo such as an FPGreen then it costs even more money. 2 grand will not get you too far.... a TBE costs roughly 7-$800.00 for a nice one alone.... Engine management costs another $650.00 for AP V2.... so again, 2 grand will not get you that far.....

  • haha...nice one there...first of all he could get an opensource ecu which is FREE!!!...tbe for 800...fp for 90...800cc inj for 560...intake for 150...inlet for 150...hks dp for 138...coming out to about 1700!!!...with a nice tune and some time behind the wheel he will be beating m5 off the lines and keeping up with one cause u and i know the m5 topend is pretty nice but easily beating a m3...for 2000!!!!...instead of bashing this guy lead him in the right direction. my .02

It's 3 cars in one. Economy,SUV,and Sports car, They are great cars.

  • So why buy an STI over a regular impreza. imprezas are non turbo vs. STI turbo 300hp 300 lb/tq stock,impreza has no driver control controled differential (DCCD)vs. STI does, impreza has no brembo brakes vs. STI does, weak 5 speed vs. STI strong 6 speed, crapy suspention on impreza vs. Rally style STI suspention, impreza has no water injected intercooler hell it doesn't have a turbo so it has no intercooler at all vs. STI has all the above.

  • Obviouslly not going to be the best setup for drag or circuit racing. So please keep your judgements of a cars intended use against someone elses uses, unless of course this person is saying he can beat you in your sport. Then he better have a bigger turbo and some cams on there to shift that curve to the right!!

  • Anyone who knows about anything about engines can look at that dyno chart and tell you what this cars advantages are. That torque curve is obviously not going to translate into much power in the topend --> Stock turbo sti/wrx = left happy power curve... This is how these cars were designed to make power and if you look at any rally car, the higher the midrange torque the better a rally car.

  • oh and one more thing i forgot to add the sti that ran that WAS A STOCK TURBO if you want to look it up its on NASIOC its a web site search for it on there

  • so jarred from PDX Tuned it MYK from PDX tuned my brothers car it put 402.5 WHP and 399lbs/ft its a stage 5 going on stage 6 his plans r Water and Meth. injection and a shot of NOS he hasn't decided how big the shot is. we went draggin the other night here in Tacoma and he did 12.97 at 109.83mph on the 1/4 mile hes never dragged his car before so his R/T sucks but he still smashed on a Mustang but thats not really saying much.

  • that car is a wrx not an sti there is a diff in both of them lots of people think when someone say wrx its automaticaly an sti same car but diff in engine size wrx has always been ej20 and sti has an ej25!

  • The car is a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, it has been "dewinged" and has 2006 tail lights (which swap right in) so I can see how it can be confusing.. Also, in 2006, all WRXs and STi's (in the US at least) have 2.5 liter engines...

    The STi has 300 Crank Horsepower. A dynomometer measures horsepower at the wheels. Some power is lost in translation between difs and rotating mass.

    actual numbers .. 240-260whp ... 250-270wtq

  • actually Stock STI put down 245WHP and that tune is way too conservative. After tune on stage 2 should be at 300WHP at least. Unless that is on mustang dyno.

  • Pinkyzoey, if you knew anything about STi's you'd know that they dont make but about 215-220 whp from the factory. That the downside of having all wheel drive. AWD cars get dicked on whp numbers.

  • You lie, that's no Sti! Sti has 300 hp with no tuning, so it would already have that much hp stock to the wheels.

  • Nah it wouldn't .. Power figures on cars are always at the Flywheel, so a true STi would be getting around 240-260 at the wheels stock.
