  • because your friend is an idiot

  • When I was really stressed I used to throw away pennies and like.. sometimes 20p's. I know right :(

But now I just throw them in those spiny things the have in McDonalds, and watch them go round and round then fall into the bottom with the other floor pennies :) <3

  • *guilty* :(

  • I agree with you. You can save up pennies and other various coins to get a lot of money later on.

  • u arent crazy at all i like to save money in a jar

well i go to the h.e.b. i exchange the money for cash

    throwing away pennies is weird

  • you're not crazy, destroying money is punishable!!! it's bad for economy :) i guess i would just scream at my friends at the first time, then nag about how stupid this is, everytime they pay for sth :P

  • your crazy dude its just pennies

  • Ha! No, you're not crazy. But here's what you can do....convince your friend to do the same with 5 dollar bills....then you can sneak them out of the trash when they're not looking!!

  • lol your crazy ! No not really never throw away money !

  • yeah seriously you NEVER throw away money.

  • YOu are not crazy... or???

Who throws away money? Even if it's pennies! Those were probably people who don't have to work very hard to earn their cash... Or else they are crazy :p

I have some crazy friends too And when they do something that shocks me (what is really hard to do lol) I say: 'B**ch what you doing????' haha Kiss AnneRose

  • I drop them on the ground or tell the store clerk to keep them... Even here in UK, the 1 pence or 2 pence seems worthless to me. But if I have a pocket full of change, I'll separate the 1&2 pence coins into a separate area which is reserved for that moment when I go to shop to cash in the copper-coins for upper-standard currency. So no, you're not crazy. But throwing more than 10 of them away seems a bit harsh... :P Only less than 10 is acceptable, imo. But more than 10 is bad stewardship ;)

  • First of all, we're all crazy. Everyone has a certain characteristic that is either uncommon or widely differs from some social standards. But, concerning this matter, I think you're not crazy. Definitely overreacting, but not crazy. The insanity of throwing away pennies is about on the same level as being bothered by it to the extent of questioning yourself. So calm down, and remind your friends of all the hungry people in underdeveloped countries, as well as the beggars they pass by daily.

  • Pennies are not to be thrown away. If you dont want them, donate it to the give a penny take a penny thing in some stores, or just donate it...it's good for other people and good for you. :)

  • I will not talk you down; I completely agree with your point of view.

I remember way back when I was 6 years old (20 years ago already!) and my friends used to throw their pennies out or not care if they fell out of their pockets... I would pick them up and say: "It's still money; pennies add up in the end!"

They would just shake their heads and think I am crazy.

...Umm, maybe you and I really are the crazy friends and not them? :)

  • There is no legislating against stupidity so go into that waste basket and fish out the pennies for yourself. Your gain!

  • well, it's so annoying having pennies ins our wallet... but you're right about like puting them in the garbage: in Paris, we've a lot of little money too, kinda useless one. So you collect tehm and give them to a homeless person... you should tell him what you think, do not fight, just explain!! friends should talk ....

    good luck :D

  • you're not crazy...I think you are quite cute!! =)

    Are you dating anyone now?

  • Honestly dude, I used to throw away pennies... but I was like 11 or 12 and my mom heard them shaking in the trash bag and hit me with her slippers. Good times.

  • lol That's hilarious.

  • u seem crazy @ 3:06 and the next 9 seconds after that. lawl

  • You were filming this really late at night weren't you??? Were you sleep deprived??? I think you are thinking waaaaaay too hard about this hehe but I think you know that too, friends do weird things, but it's their pennies right? You could just ask them if they could give YOU the pennies eh?

    Antaya S :)

  • I always film really late. :-P Hope you've been well. I haven't heard from you in a long time.

  • I know, busy busy, I'm sure you can relate busy man, I'm honestly just waiting for you to burn out you work so hard! Awesome video by the way, it reminds me of your old ones! Fun fun fun! When the heck is your awesome little cousin coming back???

    Antaya S :)

  • every penny counts! one time i was short 3 cents for bus fare and the bus driver didnt let me on so i was spent an hour looking for pennis in the mall lmao.. youre not crazy!

THEY R CRAZYY or am i crazy to think lyk this?? i know dat bottom of their hearts, they dont mean to do those kind things but they wantd to try it jst for once. hmmm.....

  • PS. you're not crazy :)

  • that is ABSURD!

    in the wise wise words of russel peters;

    YOU TAKEUH ONE HUNDRED PENNIES

YOU GO TO DA DOLLAR STOREH ANDUH YOU BUY SOMEFING ELSE!!

I've collected all my pennies in a mayyonaise jar for about 2 years now. I can barely even lift the jar now! I've gotta have at least 40 bucks in there!

  • Russell Peters is hilarious! lol

  • name this video "trowing away money". ur not crazy who ever does that is crazy

  • i keep my pennies sort em and change it for cash :-)

  • You're not crazy! Your friend must be quite wealthy or not understand the value of a dollar...or in this case...pennies. After your friend leaves, dig into the garbage can and buy yourself something nice. =)

    PS - love your hair!

  • Hahaha, i'd totally laugh if one of my friends threw away their pennies. But i'd also be questioning what in the hell are they thinking! Good vid =) made me smile

  • your'e not crazy!

i have a jar for small change.. and when it's full it's like $50! it's sweet.

  • I agree with you, money just doesn't go in the garbage...no matter the amount.

You are over-reacting though haha, or so it seems?

    AND ARE YOU LEFT-HANDED?!

  • Me, a lefty? What makes you think that?

  • You were taking/looking through things in your wallet with your left hand, that's all. I try to analyze people's handedness for some reason...I guess I have a strange fascination with left-handedness.

  • Interesting observation but no, I'm right-handed. I often do things that are not typical, for example, if I wear a watch, I wear it on my right wrist.

  • Haha, I used to do that too, until I realized that my wrist was hurting from trying to write with it on...

  • omg i totes have done that! :O

  • hahha i've totally done that before. guilty. i've since bought a piggy bank and thats where all my pennies go now.

  • your friend is totally crazy, I counted my change the other day and i now have $70 in change.

  • Try paying for a big ticket item at a store with just change. :-)

  • its not crazy, honest!!

as an experiment I saved up all my pennies and put them in a piggy bank...within 3 months, I had 5 dollars and something worth of pennies.

and that 5 dollars can help someone, or you can buy coffee with it...or in my case, it can go my music fund.

  • 3) Hehe, I can't think of any crazy things my friends might do...I'll get back to you on that one. :)

    Sorry for double posting. :P

  • I guess that means that you are the crazy one within your group of friends. ;-)

  • Touché!

  • So to answer your questions:

    1) No, I don't think you are overreacting. It is really weird to throw money...yeah it's pennies, but still!

True, I don't like having them in my wallet, they consume space and i don't really use them to buy things. But when they do pile up, I just put them in my piggy bank.

    2) If some of my friends threw pennies in the trash I would be totally against it. It only shows how some people are irresponsible with handling their money.

  • haha thats so true. ive seen people do that. or like ive seen people drop their dimes or maybe some pennies on the ground, and not even bothering to pick it up. btw your pupils look huge in this video, i thought you were wearing circle lenses for a sec there. lol

  • lol that's one of the most interesting comments I've had.

  • I think people are just too lazy to save up their pennies. They accumulate really fast though.

  • Your friend is crazy, all those pennies add up.

  • I just save up all of my pennies until there's a penny drive in the area. Last time I donated 10,000 pennies :D

  • That's a lot. That deserves a *high five*

  • There's an old saying, "Take care of your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves."

They add up. Collect them and put them in savings. I even pick them up off of the ground.

No, you are clearly not the crazy one here.

  • you aint crazy XD my friends are just insane..

  • 1. throwing away monie is unwise.

    2. you are not crazy for thinking it's weird to throw away money.

a few weeks ago, I took my pennies to the store and exchanged them.. i had 21 dollars.. i was like woot woot

  • i throw out individuals pennies into wishing wells =/

  • Usually wishing well money goes to an organization or charity so you're not "throwing away" the money. :-)

  • i keep them in my wallet and use it to pay the "cents" part of the bill xD

  • Lol i roll mine up and exchange them at the bank :D

  • I know some friends who throw them away too.. but they say that they don't support the whole Canadian thing with pennies.. >.> The Government were planning to take out pennies in the beginning, but they didn't.. They spend so much money on printing pennies that it is a waste when they should be spending it on something else.

  • There's some logic missing in what your friends are saying there. Though I do agree that a lot of money is spent on producing the coins.

  • Government are funny people who like to spend.. but I do trust them to some certain extent though lols

  • Anything under a quarter I put in a jar!

Besides I normally pick up pennies off the ground.

Maybe get him to mark a garbage can just for pennies and at the end of the month, empty it and bring to like McDonalds or something where they always have coin drives and such

  • A dedicated garbage can. Imagine lifting that up when it's full. Fun times! :-)

  • Hey maybe it can double for a weight and he can exercise as well! lol

  • And it's about manners...politeness and all of it! If I ask nicely if you could just please step aside for a little bit.. It's normal to react...! BARGH... But in the end of the fight he added! "OK, maybe i seem really mean. But I am not like this usually. I like you, I think you are cool!" WTF is that?????

  • I want to tell this! I lost a few pennies on the ground, and a man accidentially stood on them. I asked nicely if he could just move away a bit. He didn't react at all. I was like "OK, fine.." then he kicked the money back at me! AND added "You know what? This exactly happened to me when I lived in Oslo(capital).. but it was a beggar who was in your position back then. I just fired up. ITS NOT ABOUT THE AMOUNT! IT'S MONEY! MONEY IS MONEY!

  • oh yea... Just wanted to add in that I'd freak out and make my friend pick it out... I don't care if i sound mean, I would seriously make them do it... doooooo ittttt.

  • Yeah, I can totally see you doing that. lol

  • in the garbage....? just set it aside...? but why in the garbage can. you're right. it's weird.

  • If your friend was throwing $20 bills into the garbage then I'd say he was crazy. LOL

Pennies? It's weird maybe, not exactly crazy, but that doesn't mean you're crazy either.

Maybe nobody's crazy, or maybe we all are!

    Hope this helps???

  • I'd like to believe we're ALL crazy.

  • I don't think that you're crazy at all. I'm the type of person that makes sure everyone around me finishes their plates at restaurants because if they don't they're wasting food by the penny :]

    very funny video!

  • LOL, I don't think you're crazy dude. :)

  • wow, that's the first time i've ever seen/heard of people deliberately throwing money away into a trash can. i can understand why some people don't see the value of pennies, but there are so many other things you can do w/ them (like you listed in the video)! they also make pretty good poker chips when you don't have the real thing.

i was always taught that "a penny saved is a penny earned", so i like to keep my pennies for paying exact change.

    you sir, are not crazy.

  • So you're promoting gambling? ;-)

  • people throwing away money = crazy

    ur video = crazier :D

  • HAHAHA I laughed so hard once the pennies were being dumped. I thought it was a joke that you did that, but no you're absolutely not crazy... I'm a super frugal person and probably would have given them a lecture, then written them an email and continuously remind them about why what they're doing is so wrong. Hmm I think I'm the crazy one out of my friends... :)

  • Looks like we're both the crazies!

  • k, your friend is crazy.

I save all my pennies so I can give exact change!

  • it's not JUST ten cents, dollars are made out of 10 cents :P

  • I totally agree! Sometimes my friends drop or see 10 cents or something lying on the floor and they're like; oh it's just 10 cents. And then the next day we'll be in a cafe or something and they'd be like; oh shit dude, got 10 cents for me?

    ALWAYS THE SAME!

  • NO you're not crazy. In this economy throwing ANY metal coins (even alloy) is not a wise thing to do.

  • is dat dude on crack

  • It's his money, and he can do what he wants with it.

Say he earns $30,000 a year. He works an 8 hour day, 240 days a year, sleeps 8 hours, and 8 hours are his. So he earns $15.63 an hour = 26c a minute. That's a cent every 2.3 seconds he works, or a cent for every 4.6 seconds he's awake. So if he takes more than 4.6 seconds to decide what to do with each penny, it costs him time and money he could spend on something else.

His actions simply show he values time and money differently from you.

  • I love the fact that you were so detailed with the calculations. :-)
