Here is what the Watchtower Society was teaching in 1918, the year that Jesus was suppose to have chosen them by saying "well done" faithful and discreet slave" :

They were teaching and preaching that Christ had returned in 1874. This teaching showed how faithful and discreet they were. Haha

They had unfaithfully "pushed ahead" and was teaching that Christ had already returned when he hadn't. They continued to teach this til 1929!

Reading the notes I realized that I have come to this site before. I guess I forgot about it since all it has to say are negative things about the JW's. Also an apostate is someone that does not accept true worship and is against those who do. An apostate is a former believer and now is against what he use to agree with. I am not sure you are this, but I listened to video and though it makes some good points I disagree with the way it shows JW's as a cult. They are not a cult out to do mind control but to teach people the truth about the bible and about Jehovah and his purpose nothing more, people can accept it or not it is a personal choice.

I get so tired of people making a big deal about the governing body. Every religious group has some type of a governing body or group of people or pastor that make decisions about church affairs and the direction they should go in. JW's don't worship men but they trust the info they receive from the governing body is bible based info. They serve only Jehovah in his son's Jesus name.They do not use mind control but teach what the bible really says, is this why they are hated?

The Governing Body repeatedly call themselves a "channel" for God's direction. When a teaching changes (based on the Governing Body), all Witnesses must "believe" differently. Ask yourself, is that mind control?
