EVERY place I've worked women were paid the same as men. In fact, a lot of times women did way less work and got paid the same or even more. Just drive down a road that's having construction work done and see who's holding the traffic signs and who's doing the grunt work with the jackhammers and shovels! And what about women living 7 or 8 years longer than men, does this old bitty consider that?! It was old bags from the '70s that went on TV shows spreading this shit. RememberDr. Joyce Brothers?
She didn't get cheated out of pay raises. She never asked for them! She found out her male co-workers were asking for pay raises every year. A little hint, employers won't give you a raise unless they have too, male or female, unless you show them what you are worth, then ask them. Its a little late many years later expecting to get reimbursed for something you never asked for all those years ago.
Your daughters and granddaughters won't be able to get a job. No one will employ women if women bring with them a bunch of legal red tape, instead of the skill to do the job, and do it well.
It seems like the ultraliberals in NOW who call themselves "feminists" define themselves more by whining about small issues that aren't all that significant, esp. compared to the beginning of the women's movement, than actually helping women in a huge way. Besides, who said NOW is the official rep. of all women? What if I was a conservative woman? Or who said the National Women's Law Center is the rep for all women??
And stop defining your entire movement by abortion rights. It's silly.
So-called feminists of today make such a huge deal about abortion rights in terms of "equality", as if women are only equal if they can abort. Now, I am pro-choice, but I'm not so narrow-minded that I can accept that other poeple have diff. views on these subjects without calling them "sexist" or implying they don't care about women simply b/c they're anti-abortion or abstinence-only on sex ed or against Plan B. They're just misguided.
Seems to me like she got paid enough anyway. She's not poor. If you get paid a little less than a man in some rare instance, yeah, that's wrong, but big deal as long as you got paid enough to live your life, right? Going around saying "i'm not paid the same as my male colleague! Let's go to the SCOTUS" is just silly liberal pandering ot the ultrafeminists.
I'm so sick of the idealism on the feminist left or the left in general. The world cannot be perfect! That's just not how things owrk. Just accept it and move on. Of course you should focus on reform, but don't pretend and fool yourself into thinking you can "end" poverty altogether. We all know that's impossible.
EXACTLY! People are missing the point. She DID the same work just as hard with the SAME skills and was paid significantly less! This is not just about equity, but women take what they can get and are the first ones to suffer in hard economic times. People complain about women on welfare (where did the men go???), well she did her job and she's trying to make sure more women will become financially independent and respected in the workforce!!
So when do women start becoming accoutnable for the causality of their choices, then?
In fact, when do they become accountable for most anything in the social construct. It's funny how women's advocates, engage in insulting by undermining their influential participation, in order to disregard their accoutnability in all things, and reduce all things to a pretense of victimology.
It's almost like their want to eat the cake. So why is Jenny Craig so popular?
This "glass ceiling" crap is a myth. Women has made tons of gains since the feminist movement started in the 60s! Quit acting like you're still oppressed and have no opportunities or that you're "discrimnated" against. Sure, there may be a few instances where this supposedly happens, but it's no indication of some institutional discrmination in "the system." Besides, does this Lilly have any proof that she was intentionally paid less?? Does she have checks or bank statements to prove it?
I don't normally write this, but you are an idiot. Yes Goodyear paid her under the table and the 60's was just sooooooo long ago. One movement made enough change to last the rest of our lives and women shouldn't complain about doing the same or more work and be paid less then men.
Our boys in school are falling behind because of society's catering to girls and disregarding boys in grade school. This evident in women outnumbering men in college.
Younger women in large cities are making more than men.... examples being 17% higher in New York City and 20% higher in Dallas. This is nothing more than a ploy for supremacy... more than has already been achieved in the upcoming generations(younger professionals in 20's).

Is the right to end the life of a fetus growing inside your uterus really that big a deal in the broad scheme of women's rights?
