This song is beautiful. We traveled Route 66 last year and paid our respects at the gravesite of Bobby and Julie and I saw this beautiful saying on the marker and now I know the story behind it. Thank you so much for sharing. What a talented and loving couple.

Thanks for posting your dad's AWESOME song....any idea during what time period he wrote it?...was it ever on an album of his?...I also presume the Four Freshman were first before Brian Wilson, in putting harmonies to this melody?....thanks in advance, Bruce

He wrote it in 1957. it was on his album "a class beyond compare" the Four Freshmen were before Brian Wilson. Brian wrote the lyrics to "a young man is gone"
