  • That rump drop to the floor at circa 4:40 - it had to hurt or did he wear lots of padding? Does anyone know who did the piano work. It starts out fine but loses steam.

  • I've got a copy of this on 8MM film. Got it today for 20$ and plan to watch it tonight onside of the side of the house, along with a few other films.

  • if you like to see the history of movies watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy

  • i said that to anyone who dislikes chaplin, the legend!!!!

and agree with bison1899, he is a Film legend for fucking god's sake!

  • He's painting with his left hand. Amazing :D

  • As classic as it gets.

  • great charlie

  • Gay back then meant happy. If any of you have ever taken the good time to read his autobiography he calls alot of people gay as in happy. He even says himself, "i felt very gay that day." and Charles is NOT AND NEVER WAS GAY

  • How do you reckon that? And why do you think pedophilia is in any way comparable to homosexuality?

  • @CharlieChaplinsAngel lol aww ppl think he's gasy because he repeatedly used the word 'gay'? I agree with you, it is clear that Chaplin was faaaar from gay (homosexual). Its kindof silly how some people might think he is...

  • @lovemeloveyou011 oh there were times he was far from gay meaning happy. As i said, people should read his autobiography. Very sad :(

  • @lovemeloveyou011 no he was a peadophile ,when it wasnt as fashionable as it is today ,alledgedly .

  • chaplin is not FUCKING GAY!

he is a Film legend for fucking god's sake!

  • is he was a bit smaller, he would look like .... , and they had the same ideas... maybe maybe...

  • ESCHIEDENIS T

    wat een techniek tegenwoordig

  • And just how do you prove such a crude claim, suparpowers?

Do you think you know your Chaplin history?

  • leave him alone

  • Leave who alone? I assume you mean Chaplin, who I never said a thing against. He is not gay.

  • u retard i ment leave sugarpower alone

  • Don't call me a retard, for crying out loud!

Why the heck are you defending suparpowers ignorance?!

If either of you have nothing nice, honest or decent to say then keep your mitts off the keyboard!

It's stupid comments like "Chaplin is gay" that give free speech a bad name!! Where's your reason?!

  • Are those what pass for 'civil' words these days?

Because let me tell you, there's a MIGHTY fine difference between blatant slandering and an honest opinion! Only a complete moron would call a noble icon "gay" without the slightest ounce of reason. As a Chaplin fanatic I know there's NO history of it!

And would it hurt you to cut that brainless filth out and use civil words? I'm trying to reason with you like a human being, for crying out loud!

  • you cunt, you dunno what gay means, it dunno mean homoseksual, it means more, like happy shit, gay, u know, not funny, stupid.

  • Don't be a bonehead! Only a fool would use archaic words like "gay" and expect to get away with it nowadays.

That meaning is long, LONG extinct and you know it! It's completely redundant!

If you don't believe me launch a trip around the world proclaiming you're gay and see what happens.

You can't resurrect what no longer exists!

  • You can't say that Chaplin was happy in this film (obviously) nor was he a happy man in life. He was suppressed and outspoken.

So what reason does your friend have for calling him gay?

Calling someone gay isn't an opinion, it's a personal preference that was highly illegal back in Charlie's day!

So don't play the slippery eel with me!!

  • go back to the future

  • so?

  • i think its good that the oldies get digtalized for the comming generation

  • American Studies and World Events.

  • I thought he was going to mount that sailor.

  • Of course not!!

He just wanted to use the spittoon.

  • His face can also be seen in a frozen window in THE GOLD RUSH.

  • that may be true but i think the soul of america is still forbidding itsself into eternity without the sufferage of the pain within its heart

  • but if the quantum-coaltrain of morbid obesity crashes, how will the spoonmonkeys get to neverland?

  • "Bar Room" not Bathroom, lol.

  • Legend. I dressed up as this guy back when I was a kid for halloween. Best costume I ever had.

  • me too. i remember trying to get the walk right too!

  • GOOD!!

  • To whoever uploaded this: I understand English may not be your first language, but there is a huge difference between a barroom and a bathroom. The only piss allowed in a barroom is Miller, Coors or Budweiser. Zing!

  • Actually only people too shy to talk about bodily functions use "bathroom". Do you piss in the bath?

  • That may be true in Australia. I don't see how W.C., water closet, john, lav, lavatory, privy, bathroom, can or restroom are any more or less explicit, though. I piss in the shower 'cause I don't have a bathtub. My roommate pisses on the floor. I don't think it's his aim; I think it's the spray.

  • haha he probably didnt understand u anyways dickhead

  • Bullztik, you appear to have a pretty loose grasp of English yourself. He probably speaks 3 or 4 languages, like most Europeans. (There are more English speakers in China than in in the USA). Skull is (unintentionally?) implying he would prefer to piss in the bath.

  • and what are you implying? that your sad and lonely so you defend random people on the internet to feed your childhood obsession of being a superhero. or maybe your just american.

  • Your reply further demonstrates your illiteracy and lack of rational skills. You are totally wrong to assume you can understand what Europeans can't.

  • It was a whole new area....can you just imagine what it was like then ..to be the pioneers of the film industries. No sound he was great.

  • Well said, grasshopper5825.

Did you know that when new age films with speech were introduced they were nicknamed "talkies"?

Chaplin, however, didn't favor talking in his pictures; stating that you didn't need words to make a great film!

And by gum he was right!!

  • This guy was a genius.

  • Chaplin made all the terrible things about his childhood into comedy. The drunk whom he was famous for playing, was his father. His mother went crazy. The fact that he could make something funny out of it speaks volumes. He was a genius.

  • Charlie Chaplin was one of a kind. There will never be another Chaplin.

  • chaplin was my great grandfathers cousin who was a black sheep of the family for his sexual activities and dishonest business actions. As was reported to me by my grandmother terrible character

  • That's mighty interesting! I'm a great fanatic of the offbeat actor! (That's probably a cliche for you though)

May he rest in peace with my best wishes!

  • well he was a great actor and so has some of his descedants. ONly one did anything with his career( he had a small part on Bonaza a jail scene) butthis was a age when moral value were strong for the common person. He was not appreciated by his family. As I am told just a bit of real history for you chaplin fans. I can find out more about his father and mother although my grandmother haws past away.

  • The history of men such as Charlie often finds itself GREATLY fictionalized due to ignorant sensationalists. Thanks for your consideration!

Though we may never know all the facts, a TRUE fan wouldn't judge or demean, but appreciate, looking only to the good. (While staying aware of his less savory acts, mind)

Making a positive difference was Charlie's intention, after all. And we can't say that his noble message didn't succeed outright.

  • chapman is the cousin of my greatgrandfather who was considered a back sheep for his liberal acts of sexuality with women and dishonest business practice. as was report by my grand mother

  • its barroom floor!!!!!!!!!lol

  • What a sad and sorry individual you must be.

Charlie Chaplin started from nothing and made it a goal to bring laughter to the world!

You, on the other hand, go out of your way to make an utterly ignorant idiot of yourself! Learn your history on Chaplin before you slate him! ....and for heaven's sake, get a better user-name!!

  • Well, I can tell you're a pitiful excuse for human intellect.

Wise up already and stop being such a depressing wreck!

  • You sorry piece of tae. maggot!

  • dude there's no way you're nineteen

  • I can assure you with first-rate honesty, I am INDEED 19!!

    Why do you doubt me?

  • because assurance is the first symptom of lying.

  • Well what the heck chance does that give me?

Only recently I celebrated my 19th and now I have you denying it!

I am proud to have been born in October of 1988 and if you think a colorful account wallpaper or the like sums me up I feel sorry for you.

  • facts or logic.... only time can tell.....

  • Wise words, toymachine0331.

But must I be patronized or summed up by the things I put on my profile?

Everything there is reminiscent of my childhood, and I prefer the sight of it more so than a bland white background or that cheesy Japanese Anime stuff and the like!

Chaplin would quite agree, "never be ashamed of who you are"

  • wa u smokin?

  • He/She's smoking a one-way roller to a little place I call "Dunce-ville"

  • I can't understand you. And it's not a good misunderstanding either!

But I'm not one to hold grudges.... so Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

  • Why dont you just watch it now?

Luiz Pompe
