  • If you like this show then watch the origional show this was copied from... Match Game

  • L and not the contestants

  • 2:54 The show cut to the Pena

  • Ha, "I've picked up a wog." Two things I remember growing up in Sydney in the 70's: this show and being called a "wog".

  • Wallet?!?! hahhaha who takes a wallet into a bath??

  • It's like the British Blankety Blank, very similar.

  • terminal dandruff - LOL!!

  • always loved the set and the theme tune.

  • Thanks for sharing a whole ep!

  • It seems that half the 'celebrities' are English. Didn't realise that at the time

  • @mistersmith6000

No. Australians just sounded like that once upon a time.

  • What a crappy prize. On Match Game, the show that this is based on, $250 was the amount for the second answer off the board.

  • @shoredude2 THIS WAS IN THE 70'S - A LOT OF MONEY THEN.

  • @free4lifeau Yes, but back in the 70s our game shows paid a lot more than that. In 1973 a contestant on Match Game, the game this is based on, had prizes 10x times what they had on Blankety Blanks. A contestant could win $5,600 in a single game.

  • Heaven forbid smoking a stogie on a television game show in a studio today! Ugly Dave Gray would get fined and locked up and probably sued too!

  • @DezmannamzeD

Not to mention Charles Neilson Riley and his pipe. (US Match Game)

  • yay i win $100 where can I collect ?

  • 250 dollars! that's a booby prize today

    mmm. boobies.

  • but back then it was worth alot, concidering most of those celebrities earnt at most $75 an episode

  • WALLET!?!? wtf

    is he a knob!

who takes there wallet in the bath!

haha, funniest bit of the show

  • At 7.57... did you notice Gra tapping the side of his nose? The contestant changed her mind Gra has a very guilty look on his face and she got the $25.. of course I could be wrong.

  • I heard that out of the 300+ episodes produced only around 30 were preserved.

  • Another panelist was Peggy Topano (best known as Karen Travers on Prisoner at that time). She was also married to Barry Quin (who worked with her on Prisoner).

  • Peita (or Peta) Toppano was the Prisoner actress, married to Barry Quin. Peggy was her mother.

  • Thanks for straightening it out. I also remembered Peggy from her short-lived turn on Arcade (as Miriam).

  • wasn't it her daughter Peita

  • I love how they made such a big deal about someone winning a whole $20 like it was so much money lol, these days people don't even bat an eyelid when their told they've won $20,000 pretty much.

  • lol this show is so tragic. It's good for a laugh though.

  • WALLET?

  • omg is that mark holden from idol?

  • Yes at the time he was acting in soap opera The Young Doctors - which they refer to several times. (Fellow panelists Ugly Dave Gray and Carol Raye had also acted in The Young Doctors at around this time.)

  • yes , :)

  • thanks for uploading! i wasn't around to see this so i'm glad =)

  • sorry received your message..

  • I reckon this show was and still is the funniest game show ever seen on tv!!!!!

They should bring back "re-runs" and I'd bet the ratings would go through the roof.

  • so true

  • A fantastic show and very funny too...thanks for the memories!

  • Just think, the Aussie version looks like the American version of 'the match game'.

  • really?...i didn't know therewas an american version...how cool is that.

  • Neither did I. I thought it was an aussie show.

    P.S Sent you a message.

  • it was both an aussie show and apparently american too as i found out recently..thank you..i just receved tour message.

  • I don't recall seeing the american version of 'Blankety Blanks'.

  • ok!

  • in america our version is called "[the] match game [73-79 and PM]". there were 3 runs out of this version. the original version (match game 7x, from 1973-1979), match game PM (1975-1980), and just plain match game (syndicated, 1979-1982). the rules are the same, the set is the same as match game 73-78.

if you want to see a full episode just click the link to my profile.

  • In addition, there was a short lived show in the US called Blankety Blanks, which had nothing to do with this.

  • Match Game, the origin of Blankety Blanks
