  • this is so stupid....

    beny masella is a god

  • They bring walls down accross the world and we built them??? Can you hear the division bell?

  • Wonderful video! I live just up from the barrier on Broughton and reject it, for the very reasons named in the video. (Do note that all MoWesters can't be lumped into the same stew). I didn't know about the safety issues, yet on the basis alone of segregating people based on the property taxes they can afford, the barrier is an abomination.

The other traffic diversions are helpful in preventing residential neighbourhoods -- ours and Lachine's -- from becoming a thoroughfare.

  • @rocketship137rtx Thank you for your comment, i wish more Montreal West residents that oppose this barricade would speak up like yourself and I'm sure there are many more of you! Sorry for generalizing but the only comments coming from Mowest till now are negative ones, poking fun at us, belittling us. At least now the general public will see that not all Mowest residents believe that the barricade is the only solution.

  • @rockysmycat I'm not sure there are a whole lot who do oppose it. I hope I'm wrong. I can only guess that many are at best indifferent, even if they sense it divides. This barrier nonsense seems to have become part of the MoWest identity, taking on a life of its own. It both feeds and is fed by some notion of superiority and exclusivity (we are apparently superior to NDG also, I hear). The wonderful irony is that the more this small-mindedness is paraded, the more MoWest belittles itself.

  • This is a perfect example of how the rich have the power to make things possible in order to enhance their way of living away from the average person! I live in N.D.G. and between Montreal West and Westmount, these residents are heartless, selfish and ruthless. They appear to think they are better than thou! In the end, my friends of Montreal West and Westmount, when we die, we take nothing with us, the barricades stay behind but your actions will live forever.

    Do the right thing...be human!

  • @Justheretoseefornow

There are lawyers, not humans...I recalled previous mayor of MOWEST was blaming Montreal for Parmalat extension on St-Jacques as argument that Montreal always get his way. Federals and Quebec should take all infrastructures grants away

  • not only is it selfish to exclude others from accessing your neighbourhood but by diverting traffic elsewhere you make high density areas even busier. take down the wall and fences in montreal.

  • @cpt1chris waaaaaaaaaaaa the french person is crying about segregation

cry me a river you moron.

  • Unfortunately, MoWEST won two courts, and somebody elected was talking about spirit of the law. I just waiting next video: at midnight dozens bikers riding around Easton and Broughton... for hours...at low speed.... And everything would be according to the spirit of the law...

  • @genaukca ya that will help the situation, good thinking!

  • I am sad to see what has happened to the wonderful community that existed there years ago. I was a long time Mount Vernon resident. I did my shopping in MW, my banking, My kids went to school there. That was my community. I have since moved away and I am glad I did considering what has happened to the community. Very sad when some people consider themselves better than other because of money. Money isn't everything. Honestly, morals, friendship and sense of community are much more important

  • Now what is supposed to happen to St Jacques and Westminster just one block from Royal West Academy? Right next to town hall? This is just making that intersection more dangerous than it already is. How many cars pass down St Jacques on any given day?

  • Moreover, the media need not draw attention to the class issue considering the statements pertaining to such found in this thread. The average person can draw their own conclusions as to the character of both Montreal West residents, and the denizens of Lachine.

Sadly, it would seem the majority of those choosing to remark on this situation of who are supposed to represent a "higher" class of society and showing so much more lack of class than those in protest. fenwick20 not included.

  • @fenwick20 I'm sorry but you speak of people being misinformed, well you could add your name to that list because we (Devils Hill Residents) made every effort to compromise but Montreal West would have none of it, and we protested because we couldn't just sit there and take it up the a**. I've been a resident of V.S.P for close to 18 years, I used to walk down Easton and Broughton with the kids (some in strollers) and I never experienced this dangerous traffic, only when I got to Westminster

  • @djdimpan Actually, a traffic study commissioned by Montreal West in 2002 showed at morning rush period, just over a 100 cars went through Broughton and just 42 in the evening- about half belonging to Montreal Westers living there. By 2007 with all Mo West's traffic diversion tactics, that number was down to 112 a day - or about 1 car every 12 minutes. Sounds downright peaceful! Nothing like the 20 000 people an hour your post mentions. You can read the study at The Devil's Hill blog

  • @PictureThisMontreal i could look at statistics on a bias blog, or since i live here, i could just look outside, and right now there are 0 cars, thanks blockade!

  • This video was filmed in fall, but Montreal just had its first big snowstorm of the year. There were several near accidents as cars slide sideways and backwards down Devil's Hill trying to drive up. Montreal West and Lachine snow removal crews couldn't clear the barricade. So Montreal West Mayor Masella was forced to temporarily remove the poles when Lachine and Montreal West's Town Managers realized the gravity of the situation. Is the light dawning that it's time to remove it for good?

  • Hey can you guys make a music video about all the drug deals at the ville st pierre tunnel? then follow up with another song about drive by shootings?

  • @djdimpan Hey can you make a video where you actually show your face? and then follow up with another one about how much of an uninformed asshole you are?

  • @billywilliamz no sorry, between my job and video games, i just don't have the time!

  • It is about time for Montreal to close Fielding and Chester. Let Montreal West residents enjoy their life.

  • @genaukca and put all our lifes at risk and make us go up that hill in the winter?Montreal westers are not the ones who are being denied the right to live their lifes

  • @oldschoolhiphop4life

I am taking it to absurd level. Montreal should shows the power. MoWest would get same getto filings.. Maybe they will send some message to own elected officials..As for me I am ignoring MoWest rules and drive over around the barricade...

  • @genaukca Cool story bro

  • Unlike you, I prefer to let the wise men do the talking.

  • @ajhoncantara so stop talking

  • Hatred is a coward's revenge for being intimidated.

    George Bernard Shaw

  • @ajhoncantara and copy pasting quotes is the feel good slacktivism way of feeling superior.

  • Hey why don't you guys make another video during rush hour? oh instead you made this video during a weekday afternoon when everyone's at work. hey why wasnt anyone at work, did you all take the day off to make a music video?

  • @djdimpan This video was filmed on a saturday afternoon. That's why no one is at work. but you wouldn't know that, 'cause you're an uninformed asshole who makes videos of him playing video games without ever showing his face so he can keep trolling other people's videos. get a fucking life, you piece of shit.

  • @billywilliamz i love video games in high definition on my entire wall, its the bomb, you should try it.

  • It's disgusting something so divisive is being tolerated. Beautiful video. Solidarity.

  • @bulldogger This is strictly a traffic issue, a safety issue where Montreal West

found the best solution possible Lachine offering no help only protest. It is very

easy for the uninformed to make it a class issue which is ridiculous and basically

unfair. The media love it because it plays into their simplistic notion of news,

suburban apartheid rich, against poor. It gives them a break from persecuting

    smokers and obese people.

  • @fenwick20 Most issues get skewed at one point or another. At times, accidentally. Sometimes by design. It's an effective method of provoking a reaction from those you wish informed and it works on both sides. Masella is guilty of the same transgression claiming the issue is above all safety, when not only do his own studies show support for Lachine's position that this road isn't the death passage it's made out to be, but also because the barrier will cause more safety concerns than it solves,

  • @fenwick20

It can also be argued that English dominated Montreal West has closed it's borders to it's only predominately French speaking neighbor. And true or not, we all know what such a statement will provoke.

In fact, we can also infer that your statement is intended to divert from the concerns of safety to a conspiracy between Media and Lachine protesters. Such is the double edge of politics.

  • I hope they gate the bottom of devils hill as well, im sick of looking at your wooden shack homes, theyre in such need of repair, and your thug children keep shooting them up with bullets. once all our luxury homes are built, your taxes will skyrocket to the point where you wont be able to pay for them off your welfare checks, and youll be forced to move to verdun, then we will buldoze your farmhouses and build more homes then take down the barricade.

  • Bravo Pat. Great Song, great video.

I remember this barrier when it was merely a series of flexible poles that was intended to be nothing more than a deterrent for motorists using des erables as an expressway to the highway. Someone once upon a time had the foresight to realize permanently blocking off access routes was well, a bad idea. I'm guessing with their departure, so left common sense.

"All the citizens of a state cannot be equally powerful, but they may be equally free." -Voltaire

  • Great CTV media exposure!!! Kudos to you and your community!!! I wish I belonged to a community that had the same heart and soul; Regardless as to what happens with this barricade, I hope you realize you are all so lucky that you have each other. I will spread the word by sending a link to your video to everyone in my address book!

  • You are all screaming into the darkness. Nobody gives a s*it about this issue other than the lot of you. The media will tire very shortly, as there is no one in Montreal West who cares what you have to say. Enjoy the detour, Pat. If there is any joy we in Montreal West get out of this is that we know it is making you crazy.

  • It's great to see a community come together like this...Given that I don't live in or around the area (but do shop in Montreal West), I wonder if my assumption that Montreal West lacks the same spirit of community/humanity is correct. In any case, elitism and classism appears to be alive and well in the Borough of Montreal West. As a consumer, I am officially withdrawing my patronage from the shops on Westminster: Pointe Claire Village, here I come!

  • @mercedesesquivel this has nothing to do with elitism, it has everything to do with not using their streets as a shortcut to highway 20. you have no idea how many motorists fly through these streets at all hours of the way running stop signs, and it's especially bad up the hill where there's a school.

  • @djdimpan Hello. Are you the same person who wrote this?: "I hope they gate the bottom of devils hill as well, im sick of looking at your wooden shack homes, theyre in such need of repair, and your thug children keep shooting them up with bullets. once all our luxury homes are built, your taxes will skyrocket to the point where you wont be able to pay for them off your welfare checks..."? If so, I suggest you think before you write, as this sounds like elitism to me.

  • @mercedesesquivel elitism? where did you learn that? fox news?

    go to school

  • Hey guys--don't take MoWestRules seriously--what he says is so stupid that i think it's a person who created that account to just do that--start a fight for the sake of it. Good luck with your fight.

  • @redzed0 this isn't a fight, and this video is full of shit, the barricade is to divert the flow of traffic to major streets, away from a school and a residential area.

  • The time is now to reopen des erables at the bottom of the hill so that we can connect with the town we live in and not the town we don't belong to. STOP GIVING MW MERCHANTS ANY BUSINESS........REOPEN DES ERABLES.....YES IT IS DO ABLE THE HELL WITH MW

  • I just love to see people hide behind the mask of Anonymity and say rude and classless things, feeling they gain power from them. Montreal West knows they are wrong in tis matter, and the causes they fight for are meaningless, that is why they're only spokesperson is a classless troller. I'm not afraid to show my face and say that I think the barricade is wrong and should be taken down, because I am not a coward.

  • @angelxmusic i dont even live in montreal west and completely agree with the barricade.

  • @djdimpan I hope you realize that you prove my point to the maximum power

    1) Mask of anonymity; Check

    2)Rude Classless statements; Check

    3) Classless troller; Check

    I appreciate the support.

  • @angelxmusic Cool story bro

  • Ahhhh....someone's feelings got bent out of shape. How sad. Yes "rockysmycat", money is power. You keep on wanting to make this a class battle. Fine. Have it. We could not give a damn. So, call us elitists, call us rich, call us whatever you want. Just remember that for every time you decide to go there, we'll match you blow for blow. The lot of you are miserable, dishonest complainers. The "barrier" is in - better get used to it. And no sh*tty song is going to make a fig difference. Merry X-Ma$

  • @MoWestRules we arent sending any "blows" were simply showing everyone the injustice we are put through on a daily basis by the town of mo west and "getting use to it" will meen getting used to not being able to enter or exit from our streets in the winter because of the hill, living with the fact that if there is an emergency on our streets the detour the emergency vehicles will have to make could meen the death of innocent people and also the fact that we are tierd of your towns injustice

  • @MoWestRules so you say long live the barrier but i say long live public safety and human rights

  • @oldschoolhiphop4life i say get a job

  • @MoWestRules Picture this, asshole. Your house is burning. Would you rather the fire department have to go all the way around a fucking hill 'cause you're neighbour put a blockade there just because he can? Or would you prefer that the fire department come right through and help you? Everyone on this page, from MoWest or Lachine knows very well you would choose the latter, and saying the contrary would just prove you're a dumbass.

  • @billywilliamz if your house is burning its because of another drive by shooting.

  • @djdimpan yes, because everyone knows that drive-by shootings cause domiciliary fires. dumbass

  • @billywilliamz then keep shooting at your houses, it sounds safe!

  • This video is not just about this one community's struggle but also highlights some universal truisms: how some people's sense of entitlement allows common sense and real facts to be cast aside - how laws can be used to advance people's agendas, no matter who is hurt in the process, and how walled communities are socially destructive, selfish, meanspirited... and actually dangerous.

  • @4841145 go pay some taxes you hippy

  • @4841145 you call this a struggle? this is at worst a slight detour. i think you should look up the definition of struggle buddy, it's an insult to anyone who actually went through one.

  • This is what we (Lachine residents) have to put up with most of the time with the constant ridicule from the upper class Montreal Wester's. Unfortunately for "MoWestRules" his comment shows the whole world what class is really all about. I did not take part in this production because I feel it will be chewed up and spit out by the people it's focused to. We as a community are rich in spirit as you can see but money is power and I believe this is a losing battle. BTW the video was excellent!

  • @rockysmycat why are you lying to yourself? this has nothing to do with money or power, this has everything to do with diverting traffic away from a residential area, these people have the right to live peacefully in their homes.

  • @djdimpan, given that I don't live in the area either, is the "thru traffic" just an issue in Montreal West, or is it an issue in Lachine as well? Otherwise stated, does the barricade imply that one community will be subject to greater traffic, while another is spared? Just curious.

  • @mercedesesquivel i live in lachine, and the traffic is also now being diverted away from emille-pomminville, and is much better now. you have no idea how bad the traffic got, rush hour motorists just didnt have any manners, and it took the police having to be there every morning to have people actually use the stop signs. the people who went through these streets, simply went through using it as a shortcut going as fast as possible.

  • @djdimpan, thank you for your reply. As an "outsider" in terms of this debate, I (like many others) may tend towards uninformed opinion based on some comments that seem rather insulting to the members of the "Devil's Hill" community. Perhaps presenting points of view in a dispassionate manner is a potential solution (I think this issue should be framed in terms of the "facts" you so kindly mentioned, rather than mere comments). Fox news? No.That seems more in line with your manner of expression.

  • @mercedesesquivel are you going to go rogue all over me and my elitism for outing these lies? you betcha

  • Nice Video and it looks like a nice friendly community. Too bad they have to fight for something so basic against people who resort to personal attacks against women and teenagers. Dude, you're way outta line. I feel sorry for your mother, she raised a MoWestFool.

  • @ajhoncantara if you lived up the hill, and 20,000 people used it as a shortcut every hour, you would be begging your municipality for a barricade as well.

  • Oh yeah....the skateboard guy is obviously an idiot....

  • @MoWestRules real mature

  • Aside from the poor production value of this video (does MM actually get paid for doing this for a living?), this pathetic little video is a crock of s*it. Interesting how you were only able to recruit Lachine residents to play along with this charade. By the way, Pat looks like she's aged real bad. And the song is such a sucky tune, it almost makes me feel sorry for all of you. Long live the Barrier!!!
