  • That hit the crossbar so hard

  • Puck definitely stopped

  • Quit being fucking stupid and saying the puck stopped advancing toward the net...look at it in slow-mo, it clearly keeps moving, slowly, but still moving. Don't be jealous because he's one of the best captains to ever lace them up and he's a fucking monster on the ice.

  • The shootout is so stupid. It's completely irrelevant to how the game goes, and does not dictate the winner and the loser of the game.

  • the puck stopped moving. the goal shouldnt have counted

  • My opinion, just make it one shot anything goes. I mean the shoot out is nothing more than an act anyway, so why not just go all out and turn it into the Show the NHL wants it to be. Plus it would take away controversy like this.

  • Crawford needed a map to tell where that one was going

  • Some of his backhand goals from 2002-2004 are absolutely unbelievable. This guys backhand is ridiculous

  • That was smexy!

  • his backhand is inhuman,

  • what a beauty.

  • I LOVE!!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL GOAL

  • That's actually such a beauty of a goal,

You know he's got confidence if he does that during a shootout, and he can have that confidence, cause clearly he's fucking good haha

  • love marty st louis but i honestly dont think this should be allowed in a shootout. he stopped in front of the net and the puck stopped too, after the spin he stopped the puck to help get elevation off the backhand

  • @TommyLeTerror You're a fucking idiot. He never stopped. he went really slow, but never stopped. Check what you're looking at before you automatically assume it's right you idiot

  • @MattyG2for3 way to get really upset about a youtube comment. and looking at the slow mo he pretty clearly stops the puck in front of the net. i saw what you were saying about him moving slowly, but from what i see the puck stopped.

  • @TommyLeTerror ur wrong it was moving the whole time open ur eyes

  • @zImpacT9 this comment was over 2 months ago. open yours

  • God damn do i need to get laid, lol - i just loe dick

  • Nothing like Omark - St. Louis was deking out Corey Crawford, fooling Crawford into thinking that he would go stick side, and he went glove side instead.

  • jesus, you know he has a backhand when he moves the whole net on the fucking shot hahaha

  • The little guy with the big heart, He deserves the Conn Smythe, He is one amazing hockey player, My Dad was friends with Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr and he has always told me how great this kid was going to be and he was right even off the ice he is a great humanitarian =]

  • The little guy with the big heart, He deserves the Conn Smythe =]

  • I agree, St. Louis is a great player..... except I was there and I'm a blackhawks fan so it didn't feel so great.

  • who says the hawks will be in the playoffs?

  • Hey idoit blackhawk fans! ... hows it feel to be swept by the lightning this season?! enjoy your short run in the playoffs this year crybabies.

  • @deftonesrule311 you are quite buttmad

  • YOU GUYS ARE IDIOTS, MARTY STLOUIS IS THE BEST HEARTED HOCKEY PLAYER, HE IS A GREAT FATHER TO HIS BOYS AND HE LIVES HOCKEY AND PREPARING FOR HOCKEY, ON THE ICE HE IS VOCAL AND ALWAYS MOTIVATING HIS TEAMMATES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE LIKE HE DOES SO OFTEN

  • @ChopperCity47 I agree these people criticizing him for stupid crap ! who cares hes a good hockey player and whether you like the blackhawks or not you should respect that

  • @ChopperCity47 I LOVE CAPITAL LETTERS

  • @ChopperCity47 and he is defintley lady byng like

  • awesome move

  • pro

  • I guess when Martin St. Louis scores a flashy goal in the shootout, it's okay. But when Linus Omark or anyone else does it, according to him, it's showboating and uncalled for.

  • bullshit move, then should and will ban spin o ramas, like dean L. said what if like the philly-NYR shootout last year, the playoffs were determined by this cheap move, not gonna happen

  • @82hky82 he skated backwards at what point did he do a spin o rama (360 or even a 240)

  • @XAcesxXx 0:05-0:07, im calling it a spinorama, calling that he stopped foreward motion, and calling it a no goal, IMHO

  • @82hky82 i respect it i've done the skate backwards and scored before if you have done it you will know your still have motion towards the net any motion forward counts.

  • @82hky82

The rule is the puck... not the body O.o CLEARLY seen. good shit.

  • .... SIICKK

  • Filthy move, and St. Louis is a great player, but I saw this live and instantly I was like "oooo, is that legal?" TECHNICALLY the puck needs to moving towards that net at all times, but with stick-handling and all that that can't happen. But it really looks like St. Louis stops and intentionally brings the puck back. I'm know it's a legal goal and it was a beauty, but I can see why Crawford would be pissed off

  • i am seeing this for the first time, because i had to see what the big deal was on nhl networks coverage of the general managers meetings. they are making a big deal about nothing it seems like. seems legal to me.

  • Beautiful goal and it was perfectly legal, nobody does it better than Marty!

  • if you can't handle losing in a shootout with a spin move then can you really say you deserve to be a professional hockey player?...lol isn't this game all about toughness?...yet st louis and you people are worried about how omark's goal made veterans feel....that is some backwards stuff right there

  • yea, u omark fans are pretty dense. respect to the kid, but yes, his first game and shootout he comes out like he's the best in the world, yes it worked, but for a kid to come in and do that is a little much in the face of seasoned vets that have paid their dues is a little outrageous, kinda like subban coming in with his swagger, a lot of seasoned vets dont like it so kids like this put big bullseyes on their back. stlouis has paid his dues more then a lot of hockey players so u cant say a word

  • He’s a young kid. Whatever he did, it worked. “Do we need that? I don’t know. It’s kind of a slap in the face a little bit, you know? Maybe it’s a little too much, I don’t know. To get beaten in the shootout and to get beaten with something like that, it’s tough to take, but he did it and it worked.

    --quote by Martin St. Loius.

    What a jackass

  • so disrespectful

  • Why doesn't anyone whining about the Lightning criticizing Omark realize that Omark spun at the blue line and St. Louis & Stamkos spun in front of the goalie and shot from the spin-o-rama, rather than using it solely for a flashy move (Omark merely wristed it through 5-hole).

  • lol if he really did criticize omark then that is stupid...you can do whatever the hell you want at the blue line as long as you score afterwords, that is all that matters....also, omark's spin was NOT pointless...think about it, it's a mental thing...if omark had just skated in normally and done that fake shot, it wouldn't have worked out like that, the goalie wouldn't have been fooled...it was the combination of his speed, the spin, and then the fake shot that threw the goalie off just enough

  • It is legal. But I think shootouts are getting further and further away from the original format.

  • Why is there such a huge argument about whether or not this is legal? The spinorama has been done many times in the shootout. Pierre Marc Bouchard, Ryan Shannon, Jason Blake, Mikhail Grabovski and others have all done it before, and they all counted. Why shouldn't this one count?

  • Totally classless

  • that was just dirty.

  • Oh my god! Everyone call the cops, the goverment and the sponsers! That was illeagal, no spin-o-rama! He could of hurt the best player of all time! Call the cops, tell your mom! That is so dirty I am sick! AAGGHH! Why isn't he suspended! Give him five years!! AAGGHH! Call the cops someone please!

  • watch the last slow mo replay, it looks like he stops the puck with forehand after the spin, but then when he lifts his stick to go to his backhand you can see the puck clearly keeps sliding an inch or two before he touches it again...by the laws of physics (Newton's) it is impossible for the puck to have stopped...objects at rest stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force...there was no outside force yet the puck moved an inch or two so it is LITERALLY impossible for it to have stopped

  • watch the last slow mo replay, it looks like he stops the puck with forehand after the spin, but then when he lifts his stick to go to his backhand you can see the puck clearly keeps sliding an inch or two before he touches it again....by the laws of physics (Newton's) it is impossible for the puck to have stopped...objects at rest stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force...there was no outside force yet the puck moved an inch or two so it is LITERALLY impossible for it to have stopped

  • Shit I'm quite the Hawks fan but damn.. get owned Crawford

  • That puck stopped. Nice stuff, but it's illegal.

  • filthy? more like fucking amazing!

  • @domeROCKk. filthy means amazing. learn your hockey lingo

  • @kanyeezy24 i said fucking amazing!, its different than amazing

  • ohh myy goddd

  • Omark's spin move was to intimidate the goalie - it was more of a confidence gesture rather than a move to put the puck in the net.

  • I wish these spin-a-rama type goals didn't count, they pretty cheap and easy to do but nearly impossible to stop for a goalie. I actually wish they got rid of shootouts completely.

  • Grow up, move to Canada and learn the rules people. It's a clean goal... he moved the puck back and forth before the shot... it never came to a COMPLETE stop. You're just mad because he won the game and you didn't ;)

  • I thought the puck was suppose to be moving forward at all times.

  • @gaminkalv it is :P

  • @gaminkalv He stops it for a brief second before he shoots.

  • This is a good shootout goal Right until the moment he moves the puck BACKWARDS just a couple inches. the puck WAS in constant motion, but that motion cannot be like that

  • The arguement isnt about the spin move, its the motion of the puck....tardotelli

  • Shit like this is dumb, they might as well allow all five players on at once going 5-0 on a goalie and then allowing goalie interference plays and if they net gets knocked off before they score then thats okay too.

  • @tpizzutelli doesn't say puck can be moved backwards, watch the clip

you're the tard in this scenario

    illegal as shit

  • NHL droppin the ball all week long. terrible

  • nhl 11 shootout rules off?

  • What is next? Allowing rebound goals on shootout/penalty shots?

  • look at 0:30 he stopped the puck and moved it backward for a second, aka Illegal, another thing Tampa bay is the most hypocritical team ever, criticize linus omark shootout, then both stamkos and st louis does something with spinning, and linus omark did his thing way better, and i am no oilers fan.

  • @buddhistgangstamonk Haha it's pathetic how ppl like you can compare Linus goal with the ones Stamkos and St Louis did, sayiong he did it better. He does it at the blueline.. and it's just becaues he's an entertainer who gain confidence by doing it. And btw I'm from Sweden and have always loved Omarks moves I just think it's pathetic how you can compare the goals..

  • @Rearrew when i said he did it better i meant it looked a lot better when omark did it, you wanna compare these goals? bertuzzi does it better.

  • greazy

  • i was at the game it was a goal ......dnt diss the lightning u dick, ur just made cause the pussy hawks lost

  • sick shootout goal and a great player

  • Well, the puck stopped, then changed direction... so if you follow the rulebook, it's an illegal shootout goal.

  • that wasn't filthy he did him dirty just destroy him

  • 7 goalies disliked this video

  • So this retard criticises Omark for starting a shootout attempt with a spinorama, and then does this himself right in front of the goal? I give him credit for his on-ice skill, but he gets no respect from me as a person or as a sportsman

  • @vince117 Great Point!

  • @vince117 St Louis's spinmove actually had something to do with his goal, Omark's was at the blueline so it was pointless

  • @vince117 There's a difference between doing it at the blue line and doing it right infront of the goalie...

  • @vince117 How hard is it for you idiots to understand that he criticized him because he was a rookie who was showing off and not because of the move itself? holy fuck you Omark fanboys are dense.

  • @DzekoSucks I couldn't care less for Omark. Just saying that St Louis comes off as a douche for criticising people (no matter rookie or not) for flashy moves and then doing it himself

  • @vince117 He didn't criticize him for using flashy moves, he criticized him for using flashy moves as a rookie. St. Louis has earned the right to make flashy moves. So has Stamkos. Omark has not. Would you like me to explain it to you once more or has whatever common sense you have kicked in yet?

  • @vince117

If you dont respect St Louis for being the first leprechaun in the NHL, then throw in moves like this, it must take a lot to win you over.

  • @vince117 st louis is a great sportsman he has won the lady byng trophy in the past. linus omark did the spinorama at center ice to show off. st louis did the spinorama to fake the goalie

  • @vince117 ya but st louis' goal was caused by the spin ... omark's was useless, just to show off

  • @DarkZimmer

Thank you finally someone who understands the difference.

  • @vince117 okay i didn't think he should have critized Omark either but serouis Omarks was 40 away from the net and pretty much just for show St.Louis is part of the move

  • @vince117 Marty perfected the spinarama, check his shot against fluery if you don't believe that! Oh and let the better team win! Check the standings if you don't believe me.

  • I only dislike because I'm a blackhawk fan, we'll get them next time

  • Comment removed

  • The puck stopped, and then moved backwards. Which makes it clearly not a goal. But whatever, I'll take the 1 point right now.

  • look at that little fuck be sweet as hell

  • Hey Tards, the NHL Rulebook specifically addresses the spin move being legal in a penalty shot scenario which is what the shootout it. It's under rule 24.2 paragraph 3. Which you can read on the NHL's website.

  • @tpizzutelli hey tard. it also says it has to be one straight through movement you fucking idiot the puck can't go backwards and clearly it did. learn hockey before you try and repeat what espn says cause they know shit.

  • @chihockey030 are you serious?? the puck went back maybe 3 inches ,, thats not enough to call off a game winning goal .. lets blame the goalie for allowing such a ridiculos thing to happen to him. St. Louis is soo effing talented that he made that look easy. Im a goalie and i love that. You cant micro anylize shit like that. there has to be some common sense in this sport or else everything could be argued and controversial Chara getting crucified now for a fair hit . I say "good goal"

  • @S22GERONIMO220 exactly... keyword being back... not only did he stop but it went BACK! NO GOAL by the rules... BS

  • @tpizzutelli but the puck did not continue towards the net. right before he shot he stick handled the puck toward center ice

  • @tpizzutelli yea but the puck has to be moving forward at all times, Mr. Genius.

  • @tpizzutelli Hey Tard the controversy isn't in the spin move. If you paid attention the controversy is that the puck failed to maintain speed towards the net which isn't allowed.

  • Sick but illegal shot

  • @tdoll21 it's not illegal haha.

  • Disrespectful! Classless!

  • I really enjoy watching St Louis and I think this goal is phenomenal.. as do tons of others, which is why I don't understand why this is ok, but when Linus Omark of the Edmonton Oilers did a spin-o-rama move he was called disrespectful and a showoff?

--- to clarify, I'm not saying St. Louis is either of those two things. I just find it interesting.

  • beutiful

  • sick move but i think he stopped all foward progress

  • The spin move he makes is completely legal, but the half second pause of him and the puck, which happens to be exactly what threw off Crawford, is not. Both him and the puck stop for a good chunk of time before he flips it in the now half empty net.

  • No goal. The puck stops then moves away from the net. I know it needs a micrometer, but it does. Check it out. Bettman loves this though -- goofy goals, near death dirty hits. It's turned into a circus. NHL (Nascar Hockey League - it sells in the small market USA) Give NHL teams to Winnipeg, Quebec, Hamilton, Halifax. There will always be sell outs there.

  • I hear the NHL doesn't really care about the first 65 min of a game when it ends in a tie so they send it to a skills comp that has nothing to do with playing a team game.

AND THEN when someone in the skills competition decides to not follow the rules, the NHL continues not to care.

In this game all we saw was a group of officials officiating like the dudes that are down at your local rink on a weekend reffing a bunch of 8 year olds.

  • I wanna hear Omark dissing St Louis for being cocky, that's what I want..

  • @UltimateHockeyFan91 LOL classless? he just spun at the centre of ice..what about St.Louis going backwards to score a shootout goal...i mean why does it matter what a person does leading up to the net..if doing a lil spin at centre ice is classless than how is skating backwards any different?

  • whats the problem?

  • That was quite awesome, I don't know what the problem is that others seem to have but then again I don't care. Quite the awesome shot.

  • @Snotnarok it does look sick, but the rule is that the puck must continue moving forward at all times. when he transitions to his backhand, he stops the puck for a second. it shouldnt have been a goal.

  • @xXxsIckICkxXx Strange rule, I never really got to terms with all the rules I just enjoy it as a spectacle on the odd day. So forgive my ignorance but that does seem like a very silly rule.

  • Grabovski'swas better...

  • @UltimateHockeyFan91 Nope. The shootout provides skill. You do anything to throw off the goaile. Omark threw off Tampa's Goalie (Cant remember who was in net) and scored. Classless is saying it was he shouldn't be doing that, while St.Louis pulls this off. For that St.Louis pulled an unclassy move.

  • @hockeyfan9127 The goalie was Dan Ellis I believe.

  • Disrespectful... ;-)

  • Sick goal!

  • ... and Hossa responds with that measly shot.

  • LIGHTNING AHHHHHH love marty. Killer Goal... now lets keep winning guys. SC 2011

  • Corey Crawford hit the dislike button

  • Puck never went back,we all know that the league has been lenient even encouraging to show moves like this in the shootout.Tampa dont get no respect.

    Theyre beast

  • I love how people have the need to bring oup the omark goal again, they were complaining ye ... but are they the first ones to?, does it make them hypocrites ? no .... And people who are saying that the ref gave the game to Tampa , go do some research and you'll see that it's exactly what they have done against Tampa, and that's not just one time ..

  • Disgusting.

  • THAT DISRESPECTED THE LEAGUE OMG!!!1!1!!!!!1 :O

  • These were the same guys who were complaining Omark's spinerama was too much? Come on. I like Tampa, but all of those TB guys complaining are hypocrites. Stamkos had a similar shootout goal against Montreal. They came to a complete stop. Shouldn't be a goal

  • Love this guy

  • Classless, just classless.

  • @PVAimo

just cause you never will have half the skill this guy has doesn't mean you got hate on him

  • @SPASHOCKEY You clearly have no clue what I meant. Check out Marty's comments on Omark's spin-move and don't just post comments.

  • illegal like a mexican crossing the boarder

  • @9ava9

ur amount of gayness shud be illegal

    gtfo here cunt

  • @SHAKEITSHAKETHATBEAR someones a mexican ...

  • Great play, not sure if it's legal because forward progress was halted. But hey, they reviewed it, said it was good, so more power to him.

  • nasty

  • Omark's goal, back in December, was a perfect example of continuous, fluid motion off the spin. Unlike St. Louis, last night, Omark's movement was continuous, all the way through the shot. St. Louis stopped for a second BEFORE shooting. Therefore, NO GOAL. That's 3 imes, for sure, this season where the refs have jobbed the Hawks out of points.

  • It was sick, just hopefully he apologizes to omark for saying his was dirty ;)

  • @hockeyfan9127 - Some people's (St. Louis) hypocrisy knows no bounds.

  • that was dirtier than my search history.

  • What a sick goal!!! Marty is awesome!

  • @GalilGade - yeah, the goal was so sick, it was positively illegal.

  • That was bullshit! Most folks I know that ACTUALLY KNOW the rules are saying NO GOAL. Blackhawks had a point stolen from them by officials who obviously wanted Tampa to get the W. This wasn't the only bad call against Chicago in this game but it was the worst of them.

  • clearly illegal

  • illegeal

  • He completely stops the puck and theres like a 1 second wait before backhanding it.. = no goal to me..

  • Still not as good as the bicycle kick. That will be the stop play on sportscenter for a long time.

  • that was sick i am going to try that

  • how can they even think that was not a good goal xD, he is clearly not delaying anything

  • Wow, that move was so sick it should be illegal, oh no wait.

  • Bar Down. Looking like Ronald McDangle. Go Bolts!

  • Great shootout goal.

  • Very interesting: What does it says in the NHL rulebook about penaltyshoot: "The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent’s goal line".

St. Louis stopped the puck when he was turning around. So referee should NOT allow the goal.

  • st louis has skills......was a great shot....must be a bunch of chicago bandwagoners whining......

  • @winterhawks29 - I'm 43, have been a Blackhawks fan all my life, and couldn't disagree with you more about the goal.

  • @winterhawks29 There were Chicago "fans" last night that cheered for a goal. Only problem was that it went in an empty net on a delayed offsides. Some hockey knowledge there.

  • Linus must be shaking his head.

  • NO GOAL

  • What the fuck??!!? Martin St. Louis you're a disgrace for NHL! This is so overboard!! You don't need to do that spin omfg!!! HERP DERP!!!

So funny how Tampa were bitching over Omark a couple months ago and since then I've seen players in Tampa do these spins a few times.

  • Marty St. Hypocrite and the Tampa Bay Whining
