@Axellelieftina The Open Door was a return to their earlier sound, like in Origin; it does not suck. It's not Gothic metal, but who said that Evanescence had to stay in one genre. Amy Lee, who can make any song rock, wanted to evolve with each album, but Ben wanted to repackage that same album multiple times. Him and two other ex-Ev members have a band with a new singer called We Are The Fallen; give it a listen if you must have that particular sound. They're really good, but Carly's not Amy Lee

As someone who listens to mostly black metal and symphonic metal, I have to admit this is amazing. I'm the type that needs subgenres. I need classification because it's how my brain works. I don't normally like the conventions of metalcore, nor am I huge fan of what they've turned metal into nowadays. But every once in a while, a gem comes along that knocks me off my feet. That diamond in the rough is The Agonist, and Alissa White-Gluz.
