I remember seeing this video on BET way back in the day and MTV never did really show this at all and i really loved this video because not only was it live but i could really appreciate all the energy that was being displayed by everyone in the band including prince himself and i really loved the stage pressence as well as the drum solo. This is true music and not what you see today because no one plays or sings live anymore...
been a fan since 1976. we are the same age-he was playing most if not all instruments then. so when he picks a band 2 play with him you can bet they know what 2 do.
Young people this is what you call a band. Notice there are real instruments on the stage and no Auto Tune. I'm not talking to all the young people just the ones that believe T-Pain can really sing.
Few years ago I was listening to an album were Chick Corea did a Fender Rhodes solo on and whilst listening at this sort of obscured solo, deep in the mix something struck me... I've heard that before. I sat there beating my head at where I have heard that! I listening over and over at this improvisation part and it hit me!
The horn motif that starts at "breakdown" that starts at 2:30 ! That repeating odd horns riff is a Chick Corea solo part!
This has always been one of Prince's most underrated and underplayed songs. That's too bad, because lyrically it's a far more accurate take on the country; as compared to the pandering "we can do no wrong" crap that today's country music nitwits spit out on a far too regular basis. And of course, the song musically kicks ass too; both here and on the studio version.
@trilogypart3 ..i agree a great song & album..just wish they would have made more videos for the album!! but still when i hear the song it takes me back to a friday night with school friends @ the local skatting rink lol ; )
the 1st time i saw this video was a friday night with some school friends at the local roller skating rink!! the week before i had just got the album "around the world in a day"! they had projected it on a lage screen at one end of the rink compare that to flat screens everywhere today lol!! it was awsome to see it because never seemed to get much airplay on M.T.V.!!
@killcraz This is one of his many brilliant performances. I had the privilege to see him live. I've been a fan since I was 12 yrs old. My brother took me to see him in 1982. He's had my heart ever since. I love him and everything he does......
One of the tightest bands ever!! I could have done without the ass-less Pants and mess thong combo.
Musically band is tight
