  • It would have been nice to see the finished product, so I can get a sense of it all! :D

  • That seems hard!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • If you are making a sci fi window, use green screen

  • where can we see the final production??

  • It would have been great to see your final product or composition. By the way, Orson Wells movie Citizen Kane is full of miniatures. Begin with the opening sequence.

  • I realllly want a ipod touch for christmas .... :(

  • Yet another great tip. The guide was a good idea as well.

  • why haven't I thought about that?

  • which type of tape should i use?

  • thanks so much. always wanted to have a green set

  • hello mark, i have a question.... how do you do the front anamations and graphics.

if you can put a video on it and send me it.. THX

  • I HOPE YOU PICK ME !!!!!!

cool video =), What camera do you use? I'm thinking of buying a new camera what do you recommend?

  • helpfull

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to do all of these!!

  • Cool!

  • thanks ^^ very helpfull

  • Interesting!

  • Will the lighting have any or add any effects to your geen screen images when you are editing?

  • SUBCRIBED

  • good ep! thx for tips

  • comment

  • That looks cool

  • SSOOOOO cool! love it!

  • Cool!

  • I was hoping to see the final result's of the set he was working on. It would've helped conclude the video's purpose. I still understood the main message he was sending, but showing the end result's of the set he was using as an example would have really proved what was saying would actually be usefull information.

It was a bit informative in some way's. I love how he mentioned how when setting up a miniature set you should decide weither to use a video camera or a still photo camera. :)

  • nice

  • I took you six minutes to list off some basic supplies, show a piece of cardboard, and to say nothing about actual set design. You seem like a nice, enthusiastic guy, but this was a terrible instructional video.

  • I second that it's kinda... Basic (meaning that i could also come up with this myself), but i think it's still useful for the absolute newbie. I wouldn't call it terrible. Just very simple.

  • sweet

  • PICK ME I WANNA WIN!!!

  • I would definitely recommend that if you're going to be doing any kind of miniature set building, get an Xacto knife.... box cutters are not as easy to manipulate.

  • Chromakey and you rock!

  • Cool Video ("

  • Where do you get your background music from?

  • Sonic Fire. Google it. :-)

  • Depending on resources, it may just be easier to render out a scene in a modeling program.

  • What is the purpose of doing a miniature set for chroma key? Please answer.

  • Because you may want to use chroma key in your stop motion videos ^ ^ and it can be used as a stopmotion set, i dont really use sets i just have the greenscreen :/

  • check out the barbie video above in the video responses. all miniature chroma key set.

  • awesome!!

  • Is there going to be soon a contest?

  • I want an ipod!

  • great video

  • your site is offline why??

  • Cool!

  • I want an ipod :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  • i want an ipod!

  • hey Mark you the best man

  • hi mark whats up dude!!!

i hope i win the prize for your prize video you JUST made. plz let me win!

  • I finally have my video response ready. It is a part in my web series called Ninja Moon. I used some Chroma key effects for the cave sequence. Thanks so much for posting this video. It was very helpful and very exciting.

  • Hey Mark. I just posted a vid response of a music video I make last weekend with a mini greenscreen set. It's a bit sultry so be warned.

  • Excellent video. I have to get this on the go.

  • Im excited to see the finished product

  • Thanks Great Post

  • I want the same quality (HD) that you have I have followed the preset that others have on youtube but have yet to get HD. I just filmed a music video and am using premiere pro cs3. Help!?

  • miiiiiniiiiiiiiiii

  • Thanks. Out of all of your videos this one excites me the most. I am working on a miniature set now. I'll definitely post my video as a response.

  • The next video I was going use a mini set. The first video was test of the green screen, but i liked the concept of the video. mini sets also have another benafit. A Normal set take up alot of space and if your working out your back yard or in a small place. You probly couldn't have to many sets at once.

  • Great guide. Love it.

    helped me a lot.

    BEST VIDEO EVER

  • Comment removed

  • great post ! thank you !

  • ur vids suck no jk but awesome vids mark

  • also adding to fav pile for a while, its a good little video.

  • Great video Mark, lots of very good tricks here..

  • Thanks... I've been working on it for a while...Anywho thanks for watching! Looking forward to the next tips and tricks ;)

  • What video editing software do you use, and what is the best color for a chroma key background?

  • Hey I have a bit of experiance I thought I'd answer your question

I don't think the color really matters. I used to use Green and now I use Blue and I get the same look, more or less the exact same//// also on a different website (The name escapes me) I have watched one of Mark's tutorials for After Effects (very good by the way) so I presume he uses After Effects.

  • Hahaha, that was helpful. Thanks

  • Wow! That was really cool Mark. I'm asking myself now why it never crossed my mind to do a mini set. Thank you again as I really have learned a ton from you.

  • are you thinking about a mini set now :)

  • all of the videos are about chroma key...Any other 'tips and tricks'?

  • only about half are chromakey the other are about mic, style, etc.

  • nice hat its realy cool lol

  • thank you I love my hat

  • wow i havent even thought of making tiny sets. that kind of reminds me of Team America lol

  • team America used extensive miniature sets and puppets too. Great movie :)

  • great video! Good info Mark!

  • Oh another thought... check out on the YT an old show called star lost. They were the first to use mini sets. Pretty amazing stuff too.

  • I see I have inspired you. hehe. Great vid. On my new web series Ranger 7 this is exactly what we are doing. I like the styro globs, Think I'm going to try that. Great vid!

  • I just watch the response a little while ago. Nice job

  • great tutorial

  • These tips are fantastic, Mark... Thanks yet again!

  • a really cool video i love mark apsolon I`m from Germany cool

  • cool!

  • what do u do with a mini set?

  • use it for chromakey or outlays within your production

  • A mini set is a cool idea, nice one Mark. Cheers!

  • Another great ep mate...I allways enjoy these.....how u been bud???

  • I've been pretty good how about you?

  • I'll be building a mini set for a new music video i'm making

  • cool add it to the is video so we can all see it

  • dang, this video took kinda long to load.

    check out my channel, please

  • Perhaps you should mention that stealing your children's toys, like doll house furniture also works, as you had done in your old videos.

And It's only fair to mention that most SiFi shows in outer space use miniature model spaceships such as Dr.Who and Star Trek

  • mine is okay

  • Thanks for the video and the Ideas Mark

  • im sorry, stupid here, what is it for, just set up my green screen

  • i kinda have the same question. but i think once it's done, you can shoot pics of it and then use those pics as the background (green screen) for your video. i'd like to see the end result so i know for sure though.

  • You can take still images with a camera and add it for the background for your keyed out green. You will see the end result in the new series

  • great video

  • Cool video Mark! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks Mark, another great one :)

  • Show up some set design projects that you've done Mark! I want to see what you got going on.

  • I showed one because it was being constructed that day..lol I do have around 4 other in storage maybe in another video :)

  • I've learned mostly everthing from you, how many videos you want? :P

  • as many as you want to put..lol

  • really good information.. I will have to favorite this one.. =)

    -Frisco the Navajo

  • awesome!

  • Thanks For The Video. Can't Wait Till' The New Series!

  • I hope I can have the series out soon. it has been backlogged for a while now :)

  • Great video Mark

  • yup..lol

  • Mark!

    mac or pc?

    mac ftw :D

  • windows right now, I worked a mac for years but moved to windows a while back. I think mac over charges for all there products.

  • cool video

  • I would love to make a mini-set. I have all the lighting and green screen, i just don't have any software to key out the background. :[ I don't have 200$ at the moment to buy on editing software for mac, so whenever I get enough money to buy software, I'll definitely make a video.

  • cool I cant wait to see it

  • Hey, Question. Do you know of any alternative keyers for mac besides FCE?

  • FCP, Avid, Premiere pro, after effects, and visionlab are great programs too.

  • o.o.

  • This is a really cool way to get backgrounds that you don't have to worry about copyright. This was very usefull, thanks!

  • I use elements of it in alot of my backgrounds

  • nice

  • Nice, this is useful

  • first!!! jk i hate people who do that!

  • Then why did YOU do it ;)?

  • lol
