I'm afraid Isahn is a satanist. In the book Lords Of Chaos, Isahn is interviewed and he openly discusses his satanism, Samoth also served prison time for church burning and of course original drummer Faust was imprisoned for murdering a homosexual who approached him. Isahn's satanism is very much in the Lavey school. He doesn't believe in the devil the way Euronymous did, his beliefs came directly from the bible.
It doesn't matter. Chances are, the majority of metal bands you listen to are at least anti-Christian, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you have your faith, cool, but liking a Satanic band is a very shallow emotion in comparison to actually being Satanic. I personally will listen to anything that sounds good to me... and that's the kind of mentality you need to have about music, because almost no one really has a conservative attitude.
Don't worry im protestant also and pretty much most of there songs are not satanic at all. There are a select few which are barely satanic. I know this song and this album is 100% non satanic for sure.

That said, to avoid listening to a band just because of their lyrics isn't the wisest thing to do, but if it's not your sort of music to begin with, then why care? That's my stance here - Ihsahn's solo stuff is great, but I'm not too into black metal in general, save for Agalloch.

I must admit, I highly preferred Ihsahn's vocals on Into the Nightside Eclipse album, at that time his voice made one shiver. Granted he's still an absolutely awesome Black Metal vocallist, but I doubt anything will ever beat the vocal work he done on Nightside. Just my thoughts.

yes. but listen carefully, you can hear counterpoint-composition in half of the riffs, with more than 2 voices. musically, its a masterpiece.
