Firefighters aren't exactly the cream of the crop....probably the most overpaid profession out there..considering a typical firefighter lacks any education whatsoever,.
back in the day,,, late 1880 s to early 1990 s there was a lot of drinking going on in our stations... everyone was cool back then .these days though,,, its frowned upon to drink while on duty...so yes,,, in the new shark infested job , one would be hosed if he was drinking on duty...
@firegogilbert there will always be tension between volunteer and paid personnel. There isnt anything you can call it, theres just some people that will always hate paid guy/gals and some that will always hate volunteers. Yes, there are most definitely volunteer houses that break the rules on numerous occasions and if that house gets a lot of fire they get cocky. We're all brothers in the fire service regardless.
water can put out a car fire. i have put out many with just water. so spurs you should probably learn something before you try to teach some one firefighting techniques
it depends on how involved the fire is. Are you even a Firefighter? if the car is fully envolved then NO you will not put the fire out with just water. with the battery chemicals and fuel tank and wiring and engine oil, you are alot better off using a foam solution like most if not all fire company's do..
yes i am. and you can use foam but water will put out a car fire no matter how involved it is it might take a little longer but it will do it. when you work for a small department that runs one man engine companies it is easier to just use water as compared to trying to set up a foam operation. if you have a foam tank on your truck that would be different but some of us are not blessed with that plessure but thanks for your oppinion it was very insiteful.
@9thru1 hell ya you can put a car fire out with water we do it all the time...what we do is the engine is ussully on scene first so they knock it down with water the we cover it in foam to cool it and do mop up it works great.
we had no foam on our trucks and put out many many fully involved cars and 18 wheelers with just water and a booster hose set at 30 gpms... i know thats unheard of today but thats the way it used to be done...
being a volunteer has nothing to do with it. like i said before you are able to put out a car fire with just water. foam helps but it is not an absolute need. and on a side note volunteers do the same job as career firefighters the only difference is we dont get paid. we do it because that is what we enjoy. you are probably one of those types of people that think just because you get a paycheck your better than someone who doesnt, well news flash your not.
no man not at all, im in live in student on a full time dept, i started as a vol and am just moving up. i feel as tho alot of vol. dept take dangrous short cuts and advently someone could get hurt. i mean when the magnesium in the eng block burns i hope theres form on it.
well in that case i apologize. foam does help in that situation but if your wearing your full ppe and use proper procedures most time you should be ok but there is always that chance and that is why training and having experienced personnel to guide the new guys is essential. congrats on getting your job and good luck with school
thanks man, im trying, lol the fire science degree is actualy really cool, all the classes are very related to fire fighting. no i didnt mean to beat down on vol. i still am one when i go home from college, but i must say a vol dept is alot differnt from a full time, there similar but not the same
@firegogilbert disgusted with your comment, even if you started with a vollie dept. I am currently on a vollie dept and we are bigger than most paid depts in my "suburban" area. As a matter of fact, two of our vehicles are on mutal aid box cards because they the few in the area. Throwing derogatory comments at vollie just shows how much you have to learn within the fire service. My family have been "fire service" and that is how we caterogize it....."fire service", not vollie and paid.
@dynodonfb7. i think we have a misunderstanding...... im from a very very idk what the word for it is really but teh vol depts in the area im from do it very very wrong, as ive been working with more vol depts closer to the citys they are alot more strict and its nice, back home soooooo many rules are broken and things are done the wrong way....seeing the place im from is VERY differenet when it comes to vol. depts. the way the do it is wrong, a dept from teh next town just has there fire cheif

fuck yes. this video is my shit. thanks to all the support of my fellow firefighters. FUCK FIRE! i'm so fucking pumped right now. this song is fucking METAL.
sounds to me like you really get off on the loss of life and property. the simple fact that there are NOT enough good ones these days means that we are getting the point across when it comes to fire prevention. i am a 12 yr veteran of the fire service and don't get me wrong, i love to battle a good cooker just as much as the next guy. but, to say that we are not getting enough of them is not a very well thought out statement.
greetings from the white sands of the hurricane gulf coast firefighters (Structure and wildland crews), well done vid! be safe, bump up! 343 never forget
