It all depends on the size, length and shape of the underlying incompetent vein as to which is better. All significant varicose veins have an underlying incompetent vein. If it is large (>5mm), long (>10cm) and straight then laser is generally a better procedure provided the extra cost of this procedure is not a problem for a patient.
