Like some other comments have pointed out, I don't need this apple tv thing. All I have to do is use a media cable that plugs into the bottom of my iPhone and use a separate set of really good computer speakers an I can do the same thing! AND I'm not so lazy that I can't get up to change the movie or music that's playing. So I really can't justify spending the extra money to use this. My iPhone does all of that.

I just hook my laptop and modem up to my home theater via HDMI thru my reciever. All hard wired, none of this streaming wireless crap that results in subpar picture, sound,boring display and jitters in signal. Its inevitable. We will be hooking up our computers to TVs and home theater systems to have a fully interactive internet media platform so I don't know why Apple, Google or anyone makes these devices.

i got a question regarding with the new apple tv: do you actually need to turn on your laptop/computer for you to be able to stream music/movies that are stored in your laptop/computer to the apple tv? because what i heard is that the new apple tv doesn't carry hard disk within itself anymore; it entirely went off streaming/wireless and you can no longer store items inside the apple tv.

so it seems, for me, that the 1st apple tv is better.

@theavanger255 RIGHT! The ONLY and I mean THE ONLY way apple TV is going to work is do what Netflix has done. Unlimited TV episodes and shows for a certain amount a month. Or better yet, only purchase certain channels for a certain amount like Tru TV or Disney Channel (something that the stupid CATV or Dish companies refuse to do). Apple does have a golden opportunity here but they have to use their brains. If Apple would do what I have described, I would dump my cable company in a heartbeat!

The best thing to do is this, mae some sort of iTV store which has a host of known TV channels such as sky movies, sky sports etc. The for a montly subscription you get thoes channels. e.g £20 a month. However to beat Dish companies they should allow you to pick certain channels that you want and not have packages. They should also make it direct to the net. But paying per show or per film will not work. howmany people buy pay per view compaired to who has sky?

Not worth it, cuz it retails for about $259CAD. I've got a wii and i can stream movies or music off my computer.. Wii is cheaper and plus you can use it to play games :P or even run a linux OS to surf it you wanted too.. Honestly front row is garbage, I'm not a Apple hater or anything I got an iMac.. Plex for mac is way better.. Infact even Windows Media Center is way better, its more feature rich.. You can hardly do anything with FrontRow..

Theres still hope for the Apple TV, if the rumours circulating of the tech blogs ,Gizmodo, Engadget, Tech Crunch etc, are true then Apple should be bringing out a cheaper, smaller and more internet/cloud based Apple TV. I think the major failing of the first version was the silly 40Gb + 160Gb hard drive options, not that the hard drive sizes were silly but the pricing for them was ridiculous.

They should put iOs 4 inside apple tv. it doesn't have to be touch based (I wouldn't go to the TV and touch it to interact), but they could make a cool remote with accelerometer and other could features. Then 3rd party developers could make some apple tv specific apps which could be awesome. If they price that thing under $150, it could really sell well. Few things i would love: pandora, netflix, abc player, a browser. with a good remote, they might be able to even enter TV gaming market.
