The Sheik was no slouch. He won medals for wrestling in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. He was a bodyguard for the Shah of Iran (where failure meant an icepick to the skull). And he was an EXTREMELY effective and talented heel.
i remember when i first saw this match... i was 10. when sarge began bleeding, he was getting up of the mat (after blading, obviously) &| i said to myself, " wow, sarges' combover is really long !".... it wasn't his hair, it was a stream of blood. not a drip, a constant stream. that's dedication.
@alzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer cuz he's smart enough to know that 98% of americans aren't smart enough to know the difference, & if they could, they wouldn't care.
I remember some great tag team matches from the Philadelphia Spectrum around late '84. Slaughter/JYD vs Sheik/Volkoff. 1st match Slaughter was busted open and they fought to a double DQ. The rematch was one of my favorites. It was a no holds barred Texas Tornado match. I lost my VHS many years ago of that one. You don't by chance have it, do you?
Larry Zybysko used to call him G.I. Schmoe( cracked me up for some reason)
