I'm building a similar display (for a DJ mixer) usuing Arduino, home built stereo spectrum shield and WS2801 RGB leds. Electronics and software are basically done so now I am looking for a good technique for building the cells for the LEDs and others experience with orientation of the LEDs (pointing up, sideways etc). How did you construct yours?
Do you realize what you have here? So many great features! Every kid will want one, kids of all ages. Finalize your design and have them mass manufactured in Asia and marketed for Christmas in the US. Do it for the money - money buys time, freedom, and whatever you need to build the next cool thing! This is one of the most impressive things I have seen on youtube! Great work! Now finish the job and get yourself financially set up - you'll be glad you did!

Very impressive! Great job!
I'm trying to build one coffee table too, with 100 RGB LEDs. Do you think it is possible to drive 20 TLC5940 with an Arduino?
Thank you for your answer!

What was the total cost of the materials to build this table?

Awesome. The equalizer might just be the best thing about this. Wish you showed it some more.

This is very well done. I aspire to be able to build the same kind of thing myself one day.
