  • To everybody that's hating on apple... No one even bought this wack ass tiny phone!! Carry on.

  • Neonode applied for a patent in the U.S. on "slide-to-unlock" in 2002 and it was accepted february 10th this year.

  • So Apple is suing Samsung because they came out first with the idea of a left-to-right swipe to unlock the phone... and then this little device got the idea BEFORE Apple...

    Stay classy, Apple.

  • Shame on you Apple

  • iSteal

  • Poor iphone user

  • lol...you can swipe right to left all you want. it aint gonna unlock.

  • @korhoden smartass :)

  • @H3A2T the N1m is a tri-band version of the N1 which came out way before the original iPhone -- sometimes back in 2005. Same software/interface. I picked up my N1m in Feb 2007 -- the iPhone went on sale in June.

  • @H3A2T The original came out in 2005.

  • @H3A2T As per Wikipedia the N1 went on sale in July 2004 with N1m being released in March 2005....2years before the iphone was released. The N2 was unveiled in February 2007 at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

  • @H3A2T Check your source(Wikipedia entry on Neonode). You just need to scroll down the same page a bit further and you get the release month of Neonode N1m - March 2005.

  • @SuperMgs2011 I don't like you using the word pussy in a derogatory way. I love my pussy. You can call Apple idiots if you want, but leave the sacred pussy alone, k?

  • Disregard my previous reply, I forgot you weren't part of the "slide-to-unlock patent" arguments.

  • Type in in Google "Bonn Apple Klage"

Its German,, but look at Google Images.

Apple (40 billion $ company) sue a small new opened coffé shop in Germany (100m²) because of its logo.

This is why im hating Apple.

They spent 100 Million dollar to sue Samsung, Htc ....

    100Million dollar!!!

  • @Smatiro that's pocket change for Apple.

  • @Smatiro

why the hell do you care what they spend their money for!??

    little emotional right there?

    jealousy is a bitch ...

  • Ok, fundroids, take this parody phone, i'll take my iphone ;))

  • @tonda01

I guess you're playing the part of the "don't get the obvious point" guy

  • @tonda01 Naw we'll just take Apple's bogus patent back so they can stop standing in the way of real phones.

  • Apple slide to unlock should be invalid after this, can't believe it took the dumb ass Americans this long, a Dutch judge figured it out quicker..

  • LOL, seems like crApple copied this barely known device then patented features of it in it's iDevices ;P

  • @blackrockcity This video is not about the slide to unlock patent... Someone decided to use my video, which I made 4 years ago, to support their argument in their post about the slide to unlock patent, resulting in most of the recent comments! I have nothing to do with this debate -- I'm not demonstrating anything other than an interesting similarity.

  • @qrpkgrl True, I was linked here from a Slide to Unlock article. I saw that the video predates the Slide to Unlock patent conversation. I tried not to insinuate that you were defending a position on the patent but YouTube doesn't allow long and thorough responses. In the bigger picture, we need Patent and Copyright reform. There is more reward in sharing [a design] than in owning. But even giant corporations play by the rules of our founding fathers e.g. Jefferson's patent system.

  • Samsung should buy this company and sue apple

  • It has a sd card... its already better then the iphone :P

  • iPhone killer.

  • Phonearena only posted picture and full specifications of the n1 1 January 2002..

  • Just keep cheating, Apple.

  • So, swipe to unlock, gestures, swipable multi-pages of app icons. I was starting to like Apple a while ago, but if only they would just be honest and stop saying they invented everything (also multitouch, which they bought from a small company, I still have their keyboard!)

  • Software patents and APPLE... BLOW!

  • HOW OLD IS THIS IS THIS JESUS PHONE

  • I don't want to get on the Apple stole what from whom, but if you want to see the unlock screen, go to 4:00

  • 1:06

    essentially talk and sh...??

what was the "sh" word you were gonna say?

  • @chadolien shit

  • For those incredulous apple fanboys

    engadget dot com/2005/04/07/the-neonode-n1m/

    April 7th, 2005

  • Apple was granted the swipe to unlock patent in the US today!

    Innovating from day 1 :D

  • @CometLol First of...I can't wait till the EU commission dismisses apples patent and sues them for monopol, same as they did it with microsoft.

  • @MuchasMarco agreed

  • It's simple:

    Fuck Apple

  • You're all so retarded... This came out in 2007, Apple filed the patent in 2005.

  • @fizzyfoster That is the Date when the person upload the video, the phone was launched 1Q of 2005.

  • @fizzyfoster You're so retarded... This video was posted in 2007, in the video she says it's 2-3 years old.

  • Great review! Very informative.

  • Apple, then, not only for Newton nowadays for everybody !!! my sonny eats apple in one hand holding apple IFONE in otherhand earfone in his ears!!!! wow i am getting older!!!!!

  • APPLE for ever!!! :)

  • now the uspto should see this video and show apple that they wer NOT the forst ones to use this "slide to unlock" hahaha. Apple, how do you like them apples. lmao go suck on a stick lol

  • haha Fuck off Apple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • slide to unlock: 4:15

  • @lwithrow69 If a technology is in the "Public Domain" for more than a year, it cannot be patented. Period, as Herman Cain would say.

  • I understand that this thing was revolutionary, but it looks like a lowly glucose meter.

  • I want them to make a newer version of that phone with a slide to unlock very similar to the one in the iphone, so apple cries and they say they did it before them, then they arent allowed to sell anything that uses ios and they are fucked.

  • the unlock is not on the display, but below the display, under the dispaly are touch sensors

  • Everyone's allowed to steal from Apple but as soon as the idea of Apple stealing something hits the air we all soil ourselves.

It's technology, devices that weren't copied from or inspired by something else don't exist.

I personally haven't seen any proof that this was stolen and believe it or not, more than one person at a time can come up with the same idea. Ever see a commercial for something that you've invented also? Just me?

If you like the Neonode N1m better, then by all means, buy it!

  • @mos3sgameplays The problem is that Apple takes legal actions against people that copy what it had already copied and make misleading advertising making people believe that Apple it's the only one that can make something he just solen from other phones...

What a ridicoulous FaceTime advertising when videocalls and Fring videochat were a REALITY in Europe from 2003...hahaha

  • Will*

  • I will spread this like fire just so I can make apple feel stupid...fanboys room never accept that Steve jobs was good at stealing...

  • Simply amazing. Apple runs around claiming all of this innovation and fanboys believe every bit of it. And they'll dismiss this evidence in any way that they can. This video should be posted all over the place.

  • Are you the same great reviewer on Engadet that does such thorough reviews? The voices sound similar. Anyway this video should be featured. Even though you got a little confused, you basically expose the fact that it's Apple that's the "Copyist" they claim Samsung is!!!

  • @kroneage yeah, it's me Myriam Joire of Engadget, aka tnkgrl -- this is old stuff for my blog from the early days of my blogging career

  • @qrpkgrl hey,you said apps at 5.38,and apple is saying they inventad apps..haha

  • how the fuck do i turn this on? I have on but cant get it to turn on!

  • @Adrianlunnon And then they filed for patents on those innovations they stole from others. It's the Apple way.

  • @Adrianlunnon

    but she did that better

  • So why is Apple suing HTC because of the swipe unlock, its clear from this video that Apple stole the idea from Neonode 1.

  • @thecrashdummie Check again, Apple has been awarded the patent.

  • @thecrashdummie The patent from Apple is specifically for a touch-sensitive display which the N1M doesn't have. Apparently, for the patent office, this is enough of a differentiating factor.

  • @thecrashdummie Not unless Apple buys it.

  • @thecrashdummie how do you know apple didn't already file and have this invented before this product, just because this company got a working phone out first doesn't mean they invented it. or they should have the patent not apple. and btw they got the patent approved

  • @syno86 this phone was on sale in most Scandinavian countries in april 2005.. It wasn't designed in one day.. Apple didn't apply for the gesture unlock patents before 2005.. Neonode n1m is prior art.. Designed and patented before iphone.. It's the original gesture touch phone.. Iphone is the copy.. The American patent system is just to arrogant to take other countries patent systems seriously.. I wish apple products was illegal to sell until false patents got removed..

  • @syno86 the neonode n1 was supposed to be released in 2002.. But got delayed and didn't get released before September 2004.. Engadget did a review on it back then.. The n1m is the updated version that came later.. Same design..

  • so sad, neonode went bankrupt. i was rly looking forward to their products. =(

RIP to 1 of the most innovative phone makers.

  • I see u have some serious problems with left & right. every time u make the sweep from "Left to Right" u say Right to left.. Hahahaha

  • Yeah, I was rather confused there by watching the camera screen which was not a mirror image :)

  • @qrpkgrl Myriam I wouldn't let some asswipe disturb you on this. Anybody can get confused on YouTube videos or any others. But you actually demonstrated you know the difference right in this video. But Megalomania Nazis always point out what's wrong w/ your grammar to make themselves feel better! :D

btw... have you checked statistics on this video? Yeah.. I've been your promotional nazi linking it all over and sharing it! lol.. looks like you should hire me as your publicity agent! ;P

  • @kroneage haha, thanks :)

  • klepto you should be from europe... because this phone hasnt been released in the US

  • Cool phone. Hard to find and tooo expensive when I find them. But cool.

  • do u still want one neonode. i can get one for u för 140 USD, its brand new (NEver used)

  • I used to have one of these. It got stolen :( They are such cool phones! Hard to find these days. Will be a collectors item one day, maybe.

  • I never knew about the unlock swiping, that seems to me like iPhone stole that. Too bad... GO SWEDEN *swedish makers*

  • I went to thier website, and cannot find anyway to purchase one of these... tell me where to get one please.

  • I dont think they make it anymore, try to find one at ebay or something likely.. or do as me, wait for the N2 to be released, or use wait for the openmoko Neo 1973

  • I LOVE NEONODE! I HATE IPHONE!

  • THWAP
