So Apple is suing Samsung because they came out first with the idea of a left-to-right swipe to unlock the phone... and then this little device got the idea BEFORE Apple...
@H3A2T the N1m is a tri-band version of the N1 which came out way before the original iPhone -- sometimes back in 2005. Same software/interface. I picked up my N1m in Feb 2007 -- the iPhone went on sale in June.
@H3A2T As per Wikipedia the N1 went on sale in July 2004 with N1m being released in March 2005....2years before the iphone was released. The N2 was unveiled in February 2007 at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.
@H3A2T Check your source(Wikipedia entry on Neonode). You just need to scroll down the same page a bit further and you get the release month of Neonode N1m - March 2005.
@SuperMgs2011 I don't like you using the word pussy in a derogatory way. I love my pussy. You can call Apple idiots if you want, but leave the sacred pussy alone, k?

Re:Slide to unlock patent: I see no visual feedback of the lock mechanism. No physics model of a lock. All that is demonstrated is a gestural input method that was commonplace a decade before the N1m. Even you demonstrate that the N1m gesture from corner to corner was not specific to unlocking. If I recall, Apple purchased the trackpad invention from a designer in Colorado in the late 80's or early 90's. Gestural input is only part of a UI design. Visual feedback matters.
@blackrockcity This video is not about the slide to unlock patent... Someone decided to use my video, which I made 4 years ago, to support their argument in their post about the slide to unlock patent, resulting in most of the recent comments! I have nothing to do with this debate -- I'm not demonstrating anything other than an interesting similarity.
@qrpkgrl True, I was linked here from a Slide to Unlock article. I saw that the video predates the Slide to Unlock patent conversation. I tried not to insinuate that you were defending a position on the patent but YouTube doesn't allow long and thorough responses. In the bigger picture, we need Patent and Copyright reform. There is more reward in sharing [a design] than in owning. But even giant corporations play by the rules of our founding fathers e.g. Jefferson's patent system.
So, swipe to unlock, gestures, swipable multi-pages of app icons. I was starting to like Apple a while ago, but if only they would just be honest and stop saying they invented everything (also multitouch, which they bought from a small company, I still have their keyboard!)
Apple, then, not only for Newton nowadays for everybody !!! my sonny eats apple in one hand holding apple IFONE in otherhand earfone in his ears!!!! wow i am getting older!!!!!
now the uspto should see this video and show apple that they wer NOT the forst ones to use this "slide to unlock" hahaha. Apple, how do you like them apples. lmao go suck on a stick lol
I want them to make a newer version of that phone with a slide to unlock very similar to the one in the iphone, so apple cries and they say they did it before them, then they arent allowed to sell anything that uses ios and they are fucked.
Everyone's allowed to steal from Apple but as soon as the idea of Apple stealing something hits the air we all soil ourselves.
It's technology, devices that weren't copied from or inspired by something else don't exist.
I personally haven't seen any proof that this was stolen and believe it or not, more than one person at a time can come up with the same idea. Ever see a commercial for something that you've invented also? Just me?
If you like the Neonode N1m better, then by all means, buy it!
@mos3sgameplays The problem is that Apple takes legal actions against people that copy what it had already copied and make misleading advertising making people believe that Apple it's the only one that can make something he just solen from other phones...
What a ridicoulous FaceTime advertising when videocalls and Fring videochat were a REALITY in Europe from 2003...hahaha
Simply amazing. Apple runs around claiming all of this innovation and fanboys believe every bit of it. And they'll dismiss this evidence in any way that they can. This video should be posted all over the place.
Are you the same great reviewer on Engadet that does such thorough reviews? The voices sound similar. Anyway this video should be featured. Even though you got a little confused, you basically expose the fact that it's Apple that's the "Copyist" they claim Samsung is!!!
@thecrashdummie The patent from Apple is specifically for a touch-sensitive display which the N1M doesn't have. Apparently, for the patent office, this is enough of a differentiating factor.
@thecrashdummie how do you know apple didn't already file and have this invented before this product, just because this company got a working phone out first doesn't mean they invented it. or they should have the patent not apple. and btw they got the patent approved
@syno86 this phone was on sale in most Scandinavian countries in april 2005.. It wasn't designed in one day.. Apple didn't apply for the gesture unlock patents before 2005.. Neonode n1m is prior art.. Designed and patented before iphone.. It's the original gesture touch phone.. Iphone is the copy.. The American patent system is just to arrogant to take other countries patent systems seriously.. I wish apple products was illegal to sell until false patents got removed..
@syno86 the neonode n1 was supposed to be released in 2002.. But got delayed and didn't get released before September 2004.. Engadget did a review on it back then.. The n1m is the updated version that came later.. Same design..
@qrpkgrl Myriam I wouldn't let some asswipe disturb you on this. Anybody can get confused on YouTube videos or any others. But you actually demonstrated you know the difference right in this video. But Megalomania Nazis always point out what's wrong w/ your grammar to make themselves feel better! :D
btw... have you checked statistics on this video? Yeah.. I've been your promotional nazi linking it all over and sharing it! lol.. looks like you should hire me as your publicity agent! ;P
I dont think they make it anymore, try to find one at ebay or something likely.. or do as me, wait for the N2 to be released, or use wait for the openmoko Neo 1973
To everybody that's hating on apple... No one even bought this wack ass tiny phone!! Carry on.
