Wrong there Dazzlerdazzles you are right about the main and the reserve but USPA and the faa does not make a skydiver ware an AAD... They should because It can save your life, but they don't

I did a tandem jump in Sep, and it was easy and the best thing ive ever done, and im scared of heights, now im going onto AFF to get my license. Do it, you'll never look back.

every sport parachute jump must take place with a MAIN canopy , a RESERVE canopy and an AAD or CYPRES as they are commonly referred to ... if all three fail ( EXTREMELY unlikely ) ... well then at least you had fun trying .. haha BLUE SKIES boys and girls ..

i think almost all divers use a back up there is always a chance your shoot wont open i seem to remember its normally strapped to your chest

Yes and no... Not "almost all skydiver's" but all of them ware a reserve And not to say that your old... But wow they havent wore reserve chut's on there chest In a long time,Mabay the Military still ware's It that way I don't know about them but as far as sport jumping goes both the main and reserve are on the back's ...Sorry If I made you sound old...LOL bye. We jumped at 12,000 feet. free fall for 7,000

no experience at all, we did a tandem jump. You get a brief instruction on how to position your body just before you jump and how to land and that's about it.

I'd love to do it, but isn't there some sort of safety precaution....that you can become knocked out from pressure if you into a spin?? i heard it somewhere but im not sure if its true?

well because you're English, this helps. You can see it sometimes on Bravo ch123. Its called 'Sports Disasters' and they show all kinds of accidents and theres always the odd skydiving accident in there.

QUESTION. I know military (airborne) jumps with a backup parachute. Is there backup in civillian version of these jums? And is there one when jumps in tandem.

There is a backup in single and tandem! There's also a device called aad that fires the reserve chute if you don't do anything.

but if you pull your cord by accident for the reseve well your on the ground you wont know it till you jump and the both come out, then you can get rid of one and hope it doesnt destroy the other or keep them both and hope they dont split, if this happens most likly your efed one way or another, maybe not dead but still efed

Yes. You must be sure that the main parachute wont open if you want to open the backup parachute. I asked because I don't want to jump without backup. I am not a BASE jamper and probably never be. BASE is insane.

how does it feel to sky-dive? when i go on coasters i get my stomach in my chest like i'm falling... such as when a plane hits an airpocket and it drops. do you have this feeling? thank you

I did my first skydive over the Thanksgiving holiday and have to say I'm now hooked on the rush! I'm an active person and love to go biking, mountain climbing, and snowboarding -- but skydiving gives a totally different thrill!

For anyone looking for an extreme sport to try, you gotta put skydiving on your list! :-)

The other 5,000 are slower and then you can enjoy the view

me and my friends are thinking about going. ive never done this but i can assume that ur nervouse as hell when u get on the plane ,but what i was really wondering is what ur stomach feels like when ur flying through the air at 220 mph falling from 14000ft. is it 20 times better than a roller coaster? if it is then im game!!! whats ur piont of view?

Of course is better than any rollercoaster you've ever been! Yes y ou feel nervous as you get closer to the door, but that's what you are there for! The rush once you jump is amazing. After the parachute opens, then you can enjoy the view.

No :-(  I didn't have the equipment for that. And they don't let you take a camera unless is very secure. I guess they don't want cameras falling from the sky!
