Ok from next time i have to hear a summary of old TV episode I will write letter to president saying " Can you please send me that yesterday's tv episode's summary on tape?".
For all of the reasons Nixon mentioned in this clip is exactly why the Illuminati has so vehemently pushed homosexuality and immorality in "our" media (that they own and control). They know it will destroy us from within, and once the last remaining superpower is destroyed, their one-world government will rise as the new absolute power.
Nixon said you see what's happened to San Francisco and the guy said it's gone clear over. I never heard that phrase before and it made me laugh my ass off.
@beardo373 Well you don't think he formed his opinions in a vacuum do you? Pat Buchanan has said very similar things and Buchanan was one of Nixon's speech writers and advisors on these matters at this time.
The great thing about this video is that you get Nixon's uncensored opinion, not a recording of him trying to pander to his "silent majority." And it turns out his attitude toward homosexuality is a lot like that of the John Birch Society founder, Robert Welch. Both of them went on and on about how "immorality" destroys civilizations.
@ebonics4everyone I agree with you, it seems that Nixon was the mastermind of the Republican party, yet today republicans credit his accomplishments to those who followed in his wake rather than giving this man even a modicum of the credit he is due.
Republicans are completely full of shit not giving Nixon historical credit for helping engineer what is known now as "red state" America. Forget Reagan and his credit card spending spree and addiction to deficit spending. Reagan was a stupid charmer. Nixon is the soul of the true GOP.
Nixon's Southern Strategy consolidated and solidified Barry Goldwater's gains in the 1964 election. By 1972, the South was solidly Republican, which it has remained ever since then. Nixon was a smart son-of-a-bitch, but he was an evil, corrupt sob as well. Republicans benefit enormously from Nixon's legacy. Also, Nixon opened up American markets to communist China. Interesting legacy that Nixon gave to the GOP, although they generally avoid talking about Nixon.
This sounds like a conversation among a bunch of old bigoted f@rts in a small town barbershop, not the President and his top advisors in the Oval Office.
You could put this on stage and replay it with comedians and it would be hilarious.
@LordBizzare112233 I like how the word 'Bigot' has evolved to encompass those who exercise moral judgement against perversions and criminality. Homosexuals are filth. Often they are pederasts as well.
It's immoral to accuse someone of deliberate pedophilia just because he/she is a homosexual. Why would you consider homosexuality perverse if it's between two consenting adults?
Also, many people who are arrested for statutory rape are in fact victims of rape-by-fraud, but the courts refuse to recognize the law, especially in California. They make good-faith efforts to determine the person's age and are fooled by fake IDs and strict liability ruins their lives.
By the way, for all of you who want to blame everything bad in the world on gays--Rome did not fall during the periods of gay Emperors and sexual liberation. It was only after the Empire CONVERTED TO CHRISTIANITY that it fell.
But nobody is using that as a reason to ban Christianity today.
@wmforr Bullshit. The Roman Empire split because of poor leadership, general apathy and laziness, and most importantly, the fact that a bunch of ex-Roman paid German mercenaries turned their attentions to scouring the land and attacking the Romans. The Roman army had been reduced because the Empire was having trouble financially, and it was split by the rule of 2 Emperors across a vast swathe of land. The Germans led by Alaric knew the Romans too well and were able to literally destroy the empire
@wmforr Are you familiar with the Dark Ages? They followed the fall of the Roman Empire and were a period where everyone was forced into self-sufficiency across Europe.Communities shrunk, technology declined, communication became non-existent, in all senses it was very similar to our impressions of a post-apocalyptic "Mad Max" world. Now you may not like this, but the Church actually brought Europe out of the Dark Ages.As it grew in strength the Church educated people and made the lands safe again
The Dark Ages were a big improvement over Rome. Only the very wealthy were hurt by the decline of Rome and most people saw their freedoms increase. What good was technology if only a few people were allowed to benefit from it?
The Church helped when it was influenced by Augustine, but it began to degenerate when Aquinas became standard; it was just for art after Aquinas. The Reformation brought the West to a new level of civilization.
@MegaAstrodude Dont be so niaive, the Dark Ages were an awful time.Consider the fall of the Empire and think how that would be today.Every form of law, hospital, local council, every established measure and monitor of civilisation, all gone.Roads decline so trade fails, ruining large and small traders alike.New building is of rudimentary/ amateur design, letting more cold in and needing more regular repairs.Any ailment or injury is a death sentence >
@MegaAstrodude Criminals and gangs roam free and fear no repercussion. And the technology we're talking about is aqueducts for fresh water, plows, carts, simple items like jugs and baskets. With no active trade routes nobody can gain access to these, greatly inhibiting absolutely everyone, rich and poor.Seriously for 1 second just contemplate the life-altering change that would come from the fall of civilisation, it's as close to the "end of the world" as we could ever imagine
@MegaAstrodude It's staggering to think how devastating to so many the Dark Ages really were. But to put perspective on this, I'm not saying anything about going to church or praising a deity, nor am I saying the church brought the world to where we are now as a civilisation. However, in the face of all the negativity and zealous atheism, there is a genuinely positive point that the church were the catalyst for Europe's progression from the Dark Ages. And I think that deserves some fair credit
@tinyflyonthewall Nixon told it like it was, today people only think this way, no one says it out loud, that would be "intolerant". Since when did the truth become politically incorrect?
In fact, Nixon's enemies, on both sides, left and the right, didn't much like the way Nixon was trying to END the Vietnam war! A protracted engagement was making so many of their puppet masters wealthy and Nixons policies, which were crafted to serve the people of the United States and not the elite power brokers, were not in line with their agenda.
@stickygumshoes I doubt very much ANYONE would have the guts to say, yeah, playback everything I've discussed over three years of my life, no holds barred. In fact, ANYONE who becomes president, or even seeks to become president is investigated by so many people and agencies that few people could bear up under the strain! Nixon was a good man! And he had enemies on both sides of the aisle, Democrat AND Republican!
But to the many shallow people, for whom this brief conversation will forever define their image of the man, I suggest they think about how much THEY would like to air three years of THEIR private discussions before the world court of opinion?
@LunsJail If YOU did it, it WOULD be for no apparent reason. Your activities not being of any national importance and all. But Presidents DID record their conversations, all of them, from FDR on. Though Not one has continued the practice after the cautionary example of watergate. Ever wonder why? After all, the rest of them are all perfectly innocent of eveything, right? Nixon was unique only in that his recordings were instigated by voice activation.
I liked both, both were excellent in their own field. Too many people today have a sesame street mentality, with little focus on the facts of history and are more tuned in to "sound bite" information to define a person, rather like a pop up video for world history. The fact is that Nixon was a better, and more capable president than ANY of the puppets who have followed in his wake.
oh fer fuck's sake! drunk... dishonest... desired dick. hell of a president. How you can tell a guy likes pussy? he talks about pussy. you know how a guy likes dick? he talks about dick. Nixon was a perfect fascist: weak of mind and strong of will. Controlled by powerful passions he couldn't control or even understand.
I'm being serious now, if Nixon had smoked a joint, and gotten fucked in the ass... just maybe he wouldn't have fucked the constitution. ah, a guy can dream!
@macco360 The transcript is WRONG. Nixon DID NOT say "I understand it" He said, I understand-- That's where the censor cut in because he was naming people he understood to be homosexual, after naming them he he no doug says that they are good public servants, - The tape picks up with him saying, "But Nevertheless!" Meaning that while these people were good people and professional he was still against propaganda on TV.
Just the sense of disgust and exhaustion in his voice when he goes "I turned the goddamned thing off" is hilarious. And by the way, I think all in all Nixon was pretty moderate here compared to what the public would have thought at the time....ie. "I do not mind the homosexuality. I understand it" and so on.
He is mad that people believe everything said on tv. Nixon would rather people believe everything he and his administration says, instead. What a creep.
yea, homosexuality in ancient times was probably a fuckin myth to get ppl to discredit shit from then....... everyone's gonna disagree w/ me, right? Well I don't fucking care, just wanted to throw in my three cents....Fuck Nixon and every other evil worshiping, bag o' shit politician that came down the pipe! OPEN UR THIRD FUCKING EYE!!!
Nixon was right on target. As this country is subsumed into the culture of sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery and atheism, we, as a result progressively embrace fragmented principles and compromised morality, in doing so we seal our destined rendezvous with oblivion.
Nixon certainly knew history very well, as evidenced here. Anybody ever hear the the name Elegabalus? Rome went into a tailspin of decadence, culminating in the aforementioned emperor. Everyone thinks that Caligula and Nero were bad, Elegabalus would put them all to shame.
@Helotes420 Don't put all your "hate" eggs in one basket. Cause if the truth be told, a majority of Americans feel the exact same way as Nixon. We smile to your face, all the while DESPISING what you are. And yes, we talk about you behind your back. LOL!
@Helotes420 I DID show you where you were wrong. Haters shouldn't record their hate? That's about as ironic a statement as I could imagine coming from someone like you.
@Helotes420 This should be of interest to you Helotes420, on that day in Caracas Venezula, when Nixon and his wife were nearly killed by rioting violent protestors, Mrs Nixon approached a girl who was fuming, swearing and spitting and just lightly touched the girl on the shoulder and took her hand and smiled, the girl turned away in sudden shame at her own behavior and wept. Pat Nixon was a class act. Your nasty words cannot touch her, they only harm yourself.
@Helotes420 Everyone liked her, that is until Helotes420, who has seen fit here to use this kind woman as a surrogate punching bag with which he can doubly inflict damage on a man he so clearly despises. It's typical for ignorant people to attack helpless individuals, particularly if they're dead. Do as you please, there's still free speech in America, though it's being progressively being curtailed. But don't presume to take the moral high ground. Your cruelty and, ignorance forbids It.
Pat Nixon is responsible for having the white house illuminated at night. She was a goodwill ambassador and traveled extensively, she was friendly and kind. She's the one who initiated a program to provide access ramps to enable People with disabilities to access the white house, before Pat handicapped people were turned away. Also not wishing to use form letters, she tried to answer her voluminous mail personally as she so didn't want to disappoint people with a form letter. Everyone liked her.
@Helotes420 Women can take care of themselves eh? But we're supposed to fall down and cry to heaven if a few insufferable fags get pegged for what they ARE! Pat Nixon, did NOT do drugs. Nixon has many accomplishments not the least which is the rescue of Israel during the Yom Kippur war. Without critical aid provided by Nixon, Israel would never have survived. He also did a great deal for American Indians. Earth day, EPA, OSHA, and much more. Now take your smelly FAG carcass out of here.
@Helotes420 Go get yourself an education you moron. Nixon accomplished more during any single week of his tenure in office than you could ever hope to accomplish in your entire lifetime. Better question for you is, why do you hate women? You displayed your hatred so well in attacking a woman who never did one damned thing to you.
@Helotes420 I'll show you where you are wrong! Because today even top Democrats look back on the Nixon presidency and reflect on all the GOOD that he had accomplished! Had it not been for Ted Kennedy, everyone in the U.S. Would have health insurance today thanks to President Nixon. Had it not been for Watergate, which was a direct result of voter fraud in 1960, President Nixon would be remembered by ALL as a great President.
@Helotes420 You do your "people" proud then. Pat had NO part in this conversation, yet you attack an innocent woman in a very indecent way. It speaks volumes about you, you POS. I KNOW the tapes. They speak volumes about a president that worked hard for the best interests of this country, he was particularly concerned about the average person, unlike the puppets today. Just as your vitriolic statements here peg you as a lowlife, unworthy of further consideration.
@Helotes420 YOU talk about sick?? After what you wrote about Pat? You filthy dirtbag! If anyone is mentally unbalanced here, it's you. Your comments are the byproducts of a degraded, degenerate mind. You should watch what you say about the dead, you never know when you might join them.
@dogfan4lyfe I agree with that. Nixon spent every waking moment working for the interests of this country. His election campaign went overboard because he had been robbed in the past. Few historians deny these days that the 1960 election had been stolen from him by Kennedy, voting fraud in Chicago and elsewhere was due to Joe Kennedy buying the presidency for his son Jack.
Nixon is one of the greatest President's the U.S. has ever had. Totally serious. It's unfortunate that he got caught up in the Watergate stuff and got dragged down.
@dogfan4lyfe: Only on foreign policy. Domestically, Nixon was a disaster: wage and price controls, "affirmative action" racism, caving into to excessive environmental hysteria--all which have grown into a statist command economy dictates that would make the old Soviet Politboro proud--began under the Nixon administration. In fairness, maybe he was too busy with foreign policy. But domestically, he was a "mee-too" RINO (Republican In Name Only) who gave us the same Demunist Commiecrat statism.
@wiannoboy *Newsflash* All politicians are dishonest and therefore shady. Nixon had a right to his opinions, as do you. Frankly your loathing and speaking ill of the dead is just as creepy. More so actually.
...Now we know who the character of Archie Bunker was based on !!!! RICHARD MILLY NIXON !!! I have to say Dickie Nixon was a creepy character in his political life....dishonest and shady....so not at all shocked that his personal ideas had to be creepy as well. May he not rest in peace .
@torchkit yep, The transcript here is incorrect. Nixon says "I understand ( he didn't say "it" the beep follows very close upon the word "understand" BECAUSE the next word is a name. Nixon most likely names off high profile homosexuals (whose names are protected here) who were no doubt qualified and effective, but then he adds, "but NEVERTHELESS. . .
Nixon was indeed a troubled president, but at the same time one of the most misunderstood. I'd take him any day over all of the political leaders from both parties we have running the country today.
@Queenweezy1 How about you turn off the TV and read a book. I know that may sound old-fashioned, or may impose on your hitherto accepted lackadaisical lifestyle; a divergence. Not to sound cruel or demeaning, but there is a whole world of wonderment to be found in both education and experiential reality. I can spend days traversing the Appalachians without even having a single string of thought about the idiot on the TV. Experience life, man, it's the only one that you've got.
@synestheticmonotony How about u practises whT u preach, go read a book, and stop trolling through & leavin your unwanted opinions... You wasted your time, because I only read the 1st line of your stupid comment.. Go suck out
@Queenweezy1 Hey, if you want to spend you life in front of the TV, that's your business. Personally, I'd rather spend it enjoying myself with family and friends. A little conversation here, a little exploring there, then close the day with about an hour in a book. Like I was sayin', you only get one life, you might as well live it. I don't see any good reason to watch other people work. After all, that is what the guy on TV is doing (working). And, he's get paid pretty good, too.
@synestheticmonotony I agree with Nixon and I read. Do you want to take issue with me? I watch news and documentaries, forget sitcoms and reality tv rubbish. But I don't want this exploitative and socio-politically motivated sexual crap on tv either. Why? Cause I don't want to live in the society that it breeds. Too late now, and it's probably going to get progressively worse, but still I agree with Nixon.
@synestheticmonotony I can't tell you read books. You never start a sentence with "And", also mostly the whole paragraph that you wrote is full of fragmented sentences. You should probably work on that before you tell someone not to watch TV. Go back to high school and learn how to write.
@ChrisH124 It is still grammatically correct to start a sentence with "and", or any conjunction, it is just an informal use of the conjunction. Your pedantry does not change the point, which was that there are a great many things that one could be doing other than watching the idiot box. If one wants to complain about what is on TV, then find something else with which to spend your time.
@synestheticmonotony What's your point in making this statement regarding TV? Are you usually in the habit of dispensing public service announcements? Give a hoot? Read a book? Your simplistic view of the discussion at hand suggests that you feel that anyone who wishes to attain enlightened status, should not concern themselves with what the rest of America is being fed via the "idiot box". Anyone with a true understanding (i.e. Nixon) of socio-political dynamics knows how influential TV can be.
@youngoldbones My view was with regard to a specific statement. This statement was complaining about her feelings about the moral depravity of television entertainment. The only point that I was making is that there are far more constructive things to do that sit on your ass staring at a box.Read a book, hand out with friends, share ideas, explore the world around you, etc.In fact, this trend is increasing as many people 40 yrs and younger are not watching TV nearly as much as their predecessors.
@synestheticmonotony People come to this particular thread to react to the conversation between Nixon, Haldeman, his chief of staff and Erhlichman, his assistant for domestic affairs. Some vilify the participants of this conversation for petty bigotry, they miss the point. Nixon looked at everything politically. None of the participants in this video dismissed this sitcom episode as just another frenzied attempt at madcap humor or entertainment. They saw the guiding hand of desensitization.
@youngoldbones The problem with politics is that politicians, just like anybody else, are always looking out for their own best interest. The problem of ANY government is that politicians have the power to control or effect the lives of the masses. Television is just another tool in their toolkit. Today, I see the prime problem of television being that it is used in order to further particular political agendas. Rarely do you ever see TV questioning the power of the State.
@synestheticmonotony If you do you'll see that his theories (Lukacs) are being implimented and are in full swing today. Political Correctness being a key element. Communism, Capitalism or even hedonism isn't the ultimate goal. Rather, it is despotic power in the hands of the elect, and I don't mean politicians. People should always speak their mind! That we in America have allowed this insideous element to corrupt our right to freedom of speech is indefensible. It's time we end self-censorship!
@youngoldbones Their agenda whatever that may be, seems to be advanced by the very tactics that were devised and outlined by Gyorgy Lukacs and the Frankfort School. We are certainly living in "interesting times" referring here to the Chinese proverb which you probably know, as did Nixon, is actually, a curse.
@youngoldbones Collectivist views have been used to control the masses throughout history. The key element is that the masses are the same (equal), whereas the rulers are "special" and are engrained with insights that the "people" do not have. In essence, it is the killing of the individualist mentality. Sure, it has been called many different things in the past, but the root of this system is that there are those who rule, and those who are ruled.
@synestheticmonotony Without question. Certainly the rulers have an elevated viewpoint that affords them special insights that the average man, in his efforts to earn a living, (all the harder now in this economy) haven't the time or the inclination to gain. I 've heard from more than one quarter, that people with too much free time are a hindrence and a danger to the government. But more to the point, my concern is that Lukacs tactics are being implimented now. For what ultimate purpose?
@youngoldbones It seems that we have some of the same conclusions, just from different viewpoints. While youtube is not the best forum for elaborating upon theoretical structures and philosophical doctrines, it does allow for the free exchange of information amongst individuals (in 485 characters). I imagine that we would both find many common conclusions, but I must let you go at this point. I have some things that I need attending to for the rest of the day. Take care.
@youngoldbones You're right, Nixon was correct in looking behind the facade presented as entertainment on television. If only more people did so, we might not be the pawns of the multinational corporations that we are today.
@synestheticmonotony The "Idiot box" as you call it, has been, and continues to be, one of the most powerful tools for programming the minds of the electorate that has ever been devised. Those long dead men taking part in this seemingly amusing recorded discussion, were well aware of that fact. All politicians are in the business of persuading voters, and they of course recognize a subliminal storyline when they see it. Haldeman particularly as he had been an advertising man.
@youngoldbones All the more reason to shed the political tool know as the television. You certainly aren't going to learn anything from it, and you will not make a better decision in the political arena by making use of it. The world today is more open to ideas than it has ever been, and a great part of that is due to the interconnectivity of persons across the world spectrum. They have quickly learned that they can pursue their own truths and ideas without the prescribed "programming".
@synestheticmonotony Certainly television is losing it's hold on the younger generation, and many older adults as well, replaced by greater communication between individuals and hopefully less rigid control by corporate media giants.
@synestheticmonotony Nixon was right to invoke Communism here. Nixon was no doubt familiar with the writings of Marx and Lenin. Communism has in wrtiting, declared its enmity against the family unit. Particularly the bond between parents and children. If you take the TIME to READ about those things that Nixon brings up during this discussion, you will see that there is sound evidence from Communist doctrine, Marx in particular, to support his contentions.
@synestheticmonotony It may seem quaint to speak of Communism today, but it's tenants are still at work. It has just taken a new form. Today it impliments it's tactics through "Political Correctness". Anyone who wishes to inform himself and gain insight into the far reaching goals of Politcal Correctness, or as I see it, the END of free speech, should check into an eye opening expose here on YouTube. "The truth behind political correctness pt1"
@youngoldbones If you had read any of Marx, then you would know that Russia, China, Cuba, et all were not communist nations (no nation has been communistic). Communism is the Marxists goal, but one does not reach that goal until they have passed through the socialist political economy. As I said above, I am a proponent of the Austrian school (i.e. Mises, Rothbard, etc), and I am probably more familiar with the trappings of socialist planning than you will ever know.
@synestheticmonotony Apparently your eyes are not open to it's darker aspects as evidenced by your dismissal of television and it's abilities to program the masses. Or then more likely you approve of the direction in which Marx and his cadre of conspirators sought to take humanity. Of course true communism would be a utopia, however man is, by nature unable to conform to it's higher aspects. Whether placed above or below in the power structure, mans true nature will corrupt, as has been shown.
@youngoldbones As to the Utopia statement, that is a quote from my professor in college, who seemed quite prone to a Communistic mindset. The idea of plenty for all without greed or corruption does sound like a Utopia, unfortunately nothing comes for free.
@youngoldbones It has been proven that the best system historically, morally, and theoretically is a system of free markets that defend property rights, contract, and voluntary exchange, as well as provide punishment/restitution for violations of the same. It is this system of the voluntary exchange of property in an arena of "natural rights" (in the Lockean tradition) that has lifted man from mere sustenance to being able to pursue other interests. It is what defines free market capitalism
@synestheticmonotony lets stay on topic shall we? No need to defend Capitalism here, it certainly isn't under attack from me. What I am attacking here is "politcal correctness" and you are merely digressing into a topic that is IRRELEVANT to the discussion. Perhaps you should crack open a few books about the Frankfort school (which sought to answer the Economic failure of Communism to subvert the West) and Gyorgy Lukacs and his theories on cultural deconstruction and subversion of the West.
@youngoldbones I merely responded to your comment. However, you must understand that this whole idea of "political correctness" is perpetuated by the government, and that it caters to certain groups which it sees as furthering its agenda. PC is just a tool used to make us all think that we are exactly the same, so that those that rule us can more easily enforce their power. It provides a false dichotomy between the intellectual/political class vs that of the people (the plebs).
@youngoldbones I take it that you're not much into economics. Just to give you a hint, the Austrian school was the only school of economic thought that entirely demolished Marxist thought and ideology. They also exploded Marxist doctrine epistemologically, logically, economically, and politically. But, you would have to actually crack open a few books to know this. Or, to make it easy on you, just google the "calculation debate". Or, read Hayek's "Road to Serfdom", or Mises' "Socialism".
@j24800 I was seven when this was spoken, and it is absolutely true! People still don't realize how much crap we are being fed by the media. During the Frost Nixon interviews, the real ones, Nixon spoke of the power of the media, and how just a very few people are directing public opinion through it.
well the reason why richard nixon was kicked out of office, was because he was gonna release information about the ufo secrecy that the government been hiding for decades , the so called tapes were a cover story fabricated by the media
@chasebizzy Well, in this episode, Archie Bunker happened to say to Mike while they were discussing Mike's friends probable homosexuality, "I have my doubts about you too!" LOL!
@spiromilhouse He's suggesting that the radical left, who best embrace at least in part, many of the tenents of communist or socialist Eco/political/social movements, seem to be the most enamored of pushing the acceptance of a particularly counter-productive lifestyle (homosexuality) into the forefront of American society. Clearly the participants in this discussion saw this correlation clearly, whether or not Marx himself held these views, it is apparent that his intellectual progeny clearly do
@spiromilhouse He wanted to destroy the "decadent west", all the while living a life of luxury, trading stocks in the international markets himself.
What Marx wanted was power. Power over all peoples. He wanted to dictate by fiat how humans run their own lives. He covered this in "helping the poor workers".
Nikita Kruschev declared that communism would "destroy [the West] from within." This would be done through destruction of a nation's morals, religion, art, education, economy, and race.
@spiromilhouse Incidentally, had Ford not intervened, the remaining tapes would have left the white house with Richard Nixon, that is the point where Nixon lost possession of all the remaining tapes that had not already been subpoenaed.
@spiromilhouse It's also ironic that Nixon was not able to gain access to his own tapes for the purpose of writing his memoirs and had to rely on his own memory and those of his aides to reconstruct his administration. It's strange how things work out, despite our best efforts to prepare our own future, fate intervenes.
Nixon was a bit clumsy and had difficulty with operating various mechanical devices, so say his aides. This may be the result of having everything done for him most of the time. Perhaps for that reason it was decided that the recordings would operate via voice activation with everything recorded. Nixon was aware of this, and at some point instructed Haldemann to peruse the tapes and eliminate non-historical, inconsequential recordings from the collection. Haldemann apparently failed to do so.

Nixon's Southern Strategy consolidated and solidified Barry Goldwater's gains in the 1964 election. By 1972, the South was solidly Republican, which it has remained ever since then. @LordBizzare112233 I like how the word 'Bigot' has evolved to encompass those who exercise moral judgement against perversions and criminality. Homosexuals are filth. Often they are pederasts as well.
youngoldbones 2 months ago
@youngoldbones,
It's immoral to accuse someone of deliberate pedophilia just because he/she is a homosexual.
MegaAstrodude 2 months ago
@wmforr That's because no one MISSES the Roman empire, douche.
youngoldbones 3 months ago
By the way, for all of you who want to blame everything bad in the world on gays--Rome did not fall during the periods of gay Emperors and sexual liberation. It was only after the Empire CONVERTED TO CHRISTIANITY that it fell.
But nobody is using that as a reason to ban Christianity today.
wmforr 3 months ago
@wmforr Bullshit. The Roman Empire split because of poor leadership, general apathy and laziness, and most importantly, the fact that a bunch of ex-Roman paid German mercenaries turned their attentions to scouring the land and attacking the Romans. The Roman army had been reduced because the Empire was having trouble financially, and it was split by the rule of 2 Emperors across a vast swathe of land. The Germans led by Alaric knew the Romans too well and were able to literally destroy the empire
Rodgerinho 3 months ago
@wmforr Are you familiar with the Dark Ages? They followed the fall of the Roman Empire and were a period where everyone was forced into self-sufficiency across Europe.Communities shrunk, technology declined, communication became non-existent, in all senses it was very similar to our impressions of a post-apocalyptic "Mad Max" world. Now you may not like this, but the Church actually brought Europe out of the Dark Ages.As it grew in strength the Church educated people and made the lands safe again
Rodgerinho 3 months ago
@Rodgerinho,
The Dark Ages were a big improvement over Rome.
MegaAstrodude 2 months ago
@MegaAstrodude Dont be so niaive, the Dark Ages were an awful time.Consider the fall of the Empire and think how that would be today.Every form of law, hospital, local council, every established measure and monitor of civilisation, all gone.Roads decline so trade fails, ruining large and small traders alike.New building is of rudimentary/ amateur design, letting more cold in and needing more regular repairs.Any ailment or injury is a death sentence >
Rodgerinho 2 months ago
@MegaAstrodude Criminals and gangs roam free and fear no repercussion. And the technology we're talking about is aqueducts for fresh water, plows, carts, simple items like jugs and baskets. With no active trade routes nobody can gain access to these, greatly inhibiting absolutely everyone, rich and poor.Seriously for 1 second just contemplate the life-altering change that would come from the fall of civilisation, it's as close to the "end of the world" as we could ever imagine
Rodgerinho 2 months ago
@MegaAstrodude It's staggering to think how devastating to so many the Dark Ages really were. But to put perspective on this, I'm not saying anything about going to church or praising a deity, nor am I saying the church brought the world to where we are now as a civilisation. However, in the face of all the negativity and zealous atheism, there is a genuinely positive point that the church were the catalyst for Europe's progression from the Dark Ages. And I think that deserves some fair credit

In fact, Nixon's enemies, on both sides, left and the right, didn't much like the way Nixon was trying to END the Vietnam war! A protracted engagement was making so many of their puppet masters wealthy and Nixons policies, which were crafted to serve the people of the United States and not the elite power brokers, were not in line with their agenda.
tinyflyonthewall 3 months ago
@stickygumshoes I doubt very much ANYONE would have the guts to say, yeah, playback everything I've discussed over three years of my life, no holds barred. In fact, ANYONE who becomes president, or even seeks to become president is investigated by so many people and agencies that few people could bear up under the strain! Nixon was a good man! And he had enemies on both sides of the aisle, Democrat AND Republican!
tinyflyonthewall 3 months ago
But to the many shallow people, for whom this brief conversation will forever define their image of the man, I suggest they think about how much THEY would like to air three years of THEIR private discussions before the world court of opinion?
stickygumshoes 3 months ago
@stickygumshoes I wouldn't. Which is why I don't record all of my private conversations for no apparent reason.
LunsJail 3 months ago
@LunsJail If YOU did it, it WOULD be for no apparent reason. Your activities not being of any national importance and all. But Presidents DID record their conversations, all of them, from FDR on. Though Not one has continued the practice after the cautionary example of watergate. Ever wonder why? After all, the rest of them are all perfectly innocent of eveything, right? Nixon was unique only in that his recordings were instigated by voice activation.
stickygumshoes 3 months ago
I liked both, both were excellent in their own field. Too many people today have a sesame street mentality, with little focus on the facts of history and are more tuned in to "sound bite" information to define a person, rather like a pop up video for world history. The fact is that Nixon was a better, and more capable president than ANY of the puppets who have followed in his wake.

tinyflyonthewall 4 months ago
@macco360 The transcript is WRONG. Nixon DID NOT say "I understand it" He said, I understand-- That's where the censor cut in because he was naming people he understood to be homosexual, after naming them he he no doug says that they are good public servants, - The tape picks up with him saying, "But Nevertheless!" Meaning that while these people were good people and professional he was still against propaganda on TV.
Greg111076 4 months ago 11
Just the sense of disgust and exhaustion in his voice when he goes "I turned the goddamned thing off" is hilarious. And by the way, I think all in all Nixon was pretty moderate here compared to what the public would have thought at the time....ie. "I do not mind the homosexuality. I understand it" and so on.

@dogfan4lyfe I agree with that. Nixon spent every waking moment working for the interests of this country. His election campaign went overboard because he had been robbed in the past. And, he's get paid pretty good, too.
synestheticmonotony 9 months ago
@synestheticmonotony I agree with Nixon and I read. Do you want to take issue with me? I watch news and documentaries, forget sitcoms and reality tv rubbish. But I don't want this exploitative and socio-politically motivated sexual crap on tv either. Why? Cause I don't want to live in the society that it breeds. Too late now, and it's probably going to get progressively worse, but still I agree with Nixon.
youngoldbones 9 months ago
@synestheticmonotony I can't tell you read books. You never start a sentence with "And", also mostly the whole paragraph that you wrote is full of fragmented sentences. You should probably work on that before you tell someone not to watch TV. Go back to high school and learn how to write.
ChrisH124 8 months ago
@ChrisH124 It is still grammatically correct to start a sentence with "and", or any conjunction, it is just an informal use of the conjunction. Your pedantry does not change the point, which was that there are a great many things that one could be doing other than watching the idiot box. If one wants to complain about what is on TV, then find something else with which to spend your time.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony What's your point in making this statement regarding TV? Are you usually in the habit of dispensing public service announcements? Give a hoot? Read a book? Your simplistic view of the discussion at hand suggests that you feel that anyone who wishes to attain enlightened status, should not concern themselves with what the rest of America is being fed via the "idiot box". Anyone with a true understanding (i.e. Nixon) of socio-political dynamics knows how influential TV can be.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones My view was with regard to a specific statement. This statement was complaining about her feelings about the moral depravity of television entertainment. The only point that I was making is that there are far more constructive things to do that sit on your ass staring at a box.Read a book, hand out with friends, share ideas, explore the world around you, etc.In fact, this trend is increasing as many people 40 yrs and younger are not watching TV nearly as much as their predecessors.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony People come to this particular thread to react to the conversation between Nixon, Haldeman, his chief of staff and Erhlichman, his assistant for domestic affairs. Some vilify the participants of this conversation for petty bigotry, they miss the point. Nixon looked at everything politically. None of the participants in this video dismissed this sitcom episode as just another frenzied attempt at madcap humor or entertainment. They saw the guiding hand of desensitization.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones The problem with politics is that politicians, just like anybody else, are always looking out for their own best interest. The problem of ANY government is that politicians have the power to control or effect the lives of the masses. Television is just another tool in their toolkit. Today, I see the prime problem of television being that it is used in order to further particular political agendas. Rarely do you ever see TV questioning the power of the State.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony If you do you'll see that his theories (Lukacs) are being implimented and are in full swing today. Political Correctness being a key element. Communism, Capitalism or even hedonism isn't the ultimate goal. Rather, it is despotic power in the hands of the elect, and I don't mean politicians. People should always speak their mind! That we in America have allowed this insideous element to corrupt our right to freedom of speech is indefensible. It's time we end self-censorship!
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones Their agenda whatever that may be, seems to be advanced by the very tactics that were devised and outlined by Gyorgy Lukacs and the Frankfort School. We are certainly living in "interesting times" referring here to the Chinese proverb which you probably know, as did Nixon, is actually, a curse.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones Collectivist views have been used to control the masses throughout history. The key element is that the masses are the same (equal), whereas the rulers are "special" and are engrained with insights that the "people" do not have. In essence, it is the killing of the individualist mentality. Sure, it has been called many different things in the past, but the root of this system is that there are those who rule, and those who are ruled.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony Without question. Certainly the rulers have an elevated viewpoint that affords them special insights that the average man, in his efforts to earn a living, (all the harder now in this economy) haven't the time or the inclination to gain. I 've heard from more than one quarter, that people with too much free time are a hindrence and a danger to the government. But more to the point, my concern is that Lukacs tactics are being implimented now. For what ultimate purpose?
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones It seems that we have some of the same conclusions, just from different viewpoints. While youtube is not the best forum for elaborating upon theoretical structures and philosophical doctrines, it does allow for the free exchange of information amongst individuals (in 485 characters). I imagine that we would both find many common conclusions, but I must let you go at this point. I have some things that I need attending to for the rest of the day. Take care.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony I'm glad we found common ground. Be well.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones You're right, Nixon was correct in looking behind the facade presented as entertainment on television. If only more people did so, we might not be the pawns of the multinational corporations that we are today.
Greg111076 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony At the Nexus of all these factors lies disturbing possibilty.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony The "Idiot box" as you call it, has been, and continues to be, one of the most powerful tools for programming the minds of the electorate that has ever been devised. Those long dead men taking part in this seemingly amusing recorded discussion, were well aware of that fact. All politicians are in the business of persuading voters, and they of course recognize a subliminal storyline when they see it. Haldeman particularly as he had been an advertising man.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones All the more reason to shed the political tool know as the television. You certainly aren't going to learn anything from it, and you will not make a better decision in the political arena by making use of it. The world today is more open to ideas than it has ever been, and a great part of that is due to the interconnectivity of persons across the world spectrum. They have quickly learned that they can pursue their own truths and ideas without the prescribed "programming".
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony Certainly television is losing it's hold on the younger generation, and many older adults as well, replaced by greater communication between individuals and hopefully less rigid control by corporate media giants.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony Nixon was right to invoke Communism here. Nixon was no doubt familiar with the writings of Marx and Lenin. Communism has in wrtiting, declared its enmity against the family unit. Particularly the bond between parents and children. If you take the TIME to READ about those things that Nixon brings up during this discussion, you will see that there is sound evidence from Communist doctrine, Marx in particular, to support his contentions.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones I am quite familiar with those writings, as well. Though, I prefer to read Mises, Rothbard, and Hoppe, etc.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony It may seem quaint to speak of Communism today, but it's tenants are still at work. It has just taken a new form. Today it impliments it's tactics through "Political Correctness". Anyone who wishes to inform himself and gain insight into the far reaching goals of Politcal Correctness, or as I see it, the END of free speech, should check into an eye opening expose here on YouTube. "The truth behind political correctness pt1"
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones If you had read any of Marx, then you would know that Russia, China, Cuba, et all were not communist nations (no nation has been communistic). Communism is the Marxists goal, but one does not reach that goal until they have passed through the socialist political economy. As I said above, I am a proponent of the Austrian school (i.e. Mises, Rothbard, etc), and I am probably more familiar with the trappings of socialist planning than you will ever know.
synestheticmonotony 8 months ago
@synestheticmonotony Apparently your eyes are not open to it's darker aspects as evidenced by your dismissal of television and it's abilities to program the masses. Or then more likely you approve of the direction in which Marx and his cadre of conspirators sought to take humanity. Of course true communism would be a utopia, however man is, by nature unable to conform to it's higher aspects. Whether placed above or below in the power structure, mans true nature will corrupt, as has been shown.
youngoldbones 8 months ago
@youngoldbones As to the Utopia statement, that is a quote from my professor in college, who seemed quite prone to a Communistic mindset. The idea of plenty for all without greed or corruption does sound like a Utopia, unfortunately nothing comes for free.
youngoldbones 8 months ago

@synestheticmonotony As to you r last statement, I agree!
youngoldbones 8 months ago

During the Frost Nixon interviews, the real ones, Nixon spoke of the power of the media, and how just a very few people are directing public opinion through it.

so true

well the reason why richard nixon was kicked out of office, was because he was gonna release information about the ufo secrecy that the government been hiding for decades , the so called tapes were a cover story fabricated by the media

Nixon just assumed that Mike and Gloria were bi-sexual swingers. That's pretty damn funny. He does have a point about the fashion designers though.
chasebizzy 10 months ago
@chasebizzy Well, in this episode, Archie Bunker happened to say to Mike while they were discussing Mike's friends probable homosexuality, "I have my doubts about you too!" LOL!

@spiromilhouse SPQRimperator is correct in this matter.
tinyflyonthewall 10 months ago
@spiromilhouse He's suggesting that the radical left, who best embrace at least in part, many of the tenents of communist or socialist Eco/political/social movements, seem to be the most enamored of pushing the acceptance of a particularly counter-productive lifestyle (homosexuality) into the forefront of American society. Clearly the participants in this discussion saw this correlation clearly, whether or not Marx himself held these views, it is apparent that his intellectual progeny clearly do
tinyflyonthewall 10 months ago
@spiromilhouse In all of these matters, Marx will be ultimately successful unless something is done.
SPQRImperator 10 months ago
@spiromilhouse He wanted to destroy the "decadent west", all the while living a life of luxury, trading stocks in the international markets himself.
What Marx wanted was power. Power over all peoples. He wanted to dictate by fiat how humans run their own lives. He covered this in "helping the poor workers".
Nikita Kruschev declared that communism would "destroy [the West] from within." This would be done through destruction of a nation's morals, religion, art, education, economy, and race.

@spiromilhouse Incidentally, had Ford not intervened, the remaining tapes would have left the white house with Richard Nixon, that is the point where Nixon lost possession of all the remaining tapes that had not already been subpoenaed.
tinyflyonthewall 10 months ago
@tinyflyonthewall A very thorough explanation of the facts!
Greg111076 10 months ago
@spiromilhouse It's also ironic that Nixon was not able to gain access to his own tapes for the purpose of writing his memoirs and had to rely on his own memory and those of his aides to reconstruct his administration. It's strange how things work out, despite our best efforts to prepare our own future, fate intervenes.
tinyflyonthewall 10 months ago
Nixon was a bit clumsy and had difficulty with operating various mechanical devices, so say his aides. This may be the result of having everything done for him most of the time. Perhaps for that reason it was decided that the recordings would operate via voice activation with everything recorded. Nixon was aware of this, and at some point instructed Haldemann to peruse the tapes and eliminate non-historical, inconsequential recordings from the collection. Haldemann apparently failed to do so.

I know the rumor was LBJ told him to tape because he would remember everything so it would be eaiser for him to write his memoir.
