Truth is I feel kind of bad for Iran as a country. They're divided on so many issues, and rely on "hatred of the west" to unify them. Yet, at the same time, their military relies on both old US and former Soviet hardware.

It would be nice if Iran could have some social reforms and rejoin the community of nations. Put down the hate. Set it aside. Live your lives. Don't bother with anyone else.

You HOPE Iran is divided. the internal division are a normal occurance in a country. It's not like US or europe never have internal bickering.

True, but I think events from the Cold War are ancient history. You have to look at it from the US perspective. We had just defeated Nazi Germany with Russia's and some of Europe's help. Soviet Russia was just as bad and a bigger threat than Nazi Germany. So during the 50s, 60s and 70s (and 80s I guess), our government screwed with them wherever they tried to screw with us.

Unfortunately Iran got caught in the cross fire. As did a lot of other nations. It's a great shame for us.
