Great tutorials for beginners thanks, @ dangeman100 Im trying to learn zbrush 4 and I couldnt find the demohead at first, if you click on tools tab in the lightbox part its in there just double click on it and drag it out on the stage.
@BlenderHelixAlpha i ask you this because i'm a beginner, and i don't know exactly how to move into the program, i learn (from you) some brushes, but i want to understand how to use Zspheres and Zsketch.
i heard that there is another program like this, Sculptris Alpha... i tried it and it seems that is more simple that Zbrush.
@BlenderHelixAlpha It would be really great if you made more beginner tutorials. I find that your tutorials have helped me the most and your a great instructor. Thank you for posting these tutorials up! Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for the tutorial, I immediately went and made a flipping good skull, b but whenever I save my character it won't let me edit it again, it just draws over the object as though it isnt there and I can't turn it . Basically I can't go back into edit mode once I've saved it, whats up with that?
@MrLukeSensei possibly you are in a sort of 'viewing' mode. Try to get out of that or go into edit mode. Im not familiar with the newest zbrush so im not sure..
@MrLukeSensei No, the problem that a lot of newer users have with the new Zbrush is that there are multiple ways to save on it. About 5 I believe...And if you save under the wrong menu, it saves as a document file, which is only a portrait of the project, you will NOT be able to edit the project afterwards.
@ToxicNoxicity If I can recall, to save and re-edit later is under the tool menu and you have to click,"Save as." Try doing a random sphere and stretch a bit of it out, then save it under a bunch of ways and see which one you can edit,
@ToxicNoxicity Because you you make a HUGE project at one point and you can't edit it after a long days/nights work, you feel terrible...All that time wasted. It happened to one of my projects and it looked amazing for my first project. So experiment with the different save choices on the dropdown menu's on Zbrush. Best of luck.
like your tut man,but what if you want to make your own character COMPLETELY? like not using the demo head but modeling it all by yourself? also if you look at his shoulders in the end, then look at his face, you see a worked on very detailed face, but the shoulders are VERY pixely. it looks like the surface of a golf ball! why does it look like that on the shoulders and not on the face? ps: i like long comments :)
hey guys, click on the lightbox,(just under top menu) under tools in lightbox, select DemoHead, click-drag it on the screen and then click on the lightbox again to close it. When you finished that, without click on anything, go to transform (top menu) and click on edit. Then you can edit it; otherwise you can't, because the object is not editable.
That happened to me aswell, some other brushes don't show up too.
But if you click on load tool on the side(it might be somewhere else but I think you should know what I mean), the first tool should say demohead click on that and you got it.
If you have not figured it out yet.
I think everyone has a few problems with the tools on zbrush 4.
@writeoff101 ZBrush 4 does have the demo head. When you open ZBrush, look in the "Lightbox" under the tools tab and you'll find the standard DemoHead. Lightbox button is near the top......
The only problem im having is that the quality of my clay is not so good. It looks abit pixelated where as yours looks very smooth, how can i fix that?
looks great! don't forget to sud-divide your geometry though. also you may want to use a zsphere and bring spikes or horns in as a sub-tool, it will often give a much smoother result than snake hook. good luck.
