He has managed to record about ever genre of music & with perfection. Best albums(in my opinion): "Prince", "Lovesexy", "Grafitti Bridge", "Under the Cherry Moon", "Purple Rain", "Symbol", "Diamonds & Pearls", "Dirty Mind" & "Sign O' The Times" & I believe I'm leaving out a few but these r my most FAVS!!!

The one thing I always liked about Prince WAS that he mixed the topics of Sex & Religion (Madonna too) in their music. I know their methods were unconventional but atleast it got me and many other kids talking with their Parents back then. They couldn't understand my taste in music (like most Parents) and I thought nothing of it. Michael Jackson, Maddona and Prince were all born in 1958. MJ did not take the world by storm on his own power and magic. He and Prince walked thru doors and walls kicked in by Jackie Wilson, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Sly Stone, Jimi Hendrix, The entire Motown label and all of their acts and every great Blues man of the past. Prince is a more independent spirit and has more attitude than MJ ever did. Also the fact that he has remained his own producer speaks volumes on top of orchestrating all the melodies and changes for each instrument on mosts tracks. To me Prince is a genius and MJ (a decent artist) is a really big Pop star that will always be more well known then Prince. Like I was trying to get at earlier, If being well known defines an artists greatness, I'd say you won the argument before it started.

@Lashid4u Elvis was banned from many college campuses (common places for concerts back then.) His records were burned in large piles by white, conservative parents ... like mine. We were forbidden to see or hear him. His was the "Devil's music". At first, Ed Sullivan (the biggest and only TV talent show back then) would only show Elvis from the neck up. Later on, he allowed taping from the waist up. He was determined to keep the youths of America clean and pure.

@wpnwilo1 He was demonized, primarily, because he was performing this "nigger music", while doing "nigger dances" So, race/racism had to do w/ his scrutiny, as well. This is one of the main reasons why rock and roll was not as accepted ..and yes, Ozzie, etc., had their share of heat ..but it's like when you compare the reaction to Madonna kissing young ladies in the mouth on stage, and Janet flashing a nipple ...Prince was threatened, and it was HIS song that, originally, lead to the labeling

Respond to this video... Jerry Lee Lewis was run out of Europe, when he arrived to perform with his 13 year old first cousin, once removed, wife. THIS is what many believe lost him the title of The King of Rock and Roll in America and gave it to Elvis. It ruined his career in Europe and America.

Seen Prince when I was 14 years old in Washington DC IN 1984.. stood in the rain all day to get tickets.. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED PRINCE!!! HE IS Awesome

You have to listen to music other than what's played on the radio. Michael's last hits were You Rocked My World, Break of Dawn and Butterflies all in 2001. Prince has won 3 Grammys since 2004. Call MyName , Musicology and Future Baby Mama all received the award. MJ was nominated 26 times and has 13 , Prince was nominated 33 and has 7. Two great artists !!
