Jarrod Spector - Broadway 2009 is the best I have ever seen! We were literally clinging to our seats until they told us to go home! Too bad there's no vids of him on here! :D
I have seen Jersey Boys twice---once in NY 2007, with Michael Longoria, as Frankie---he's the sexiest dancer!!! Great voice---saw it in 2008 in St Louis---don't know who Frankie was---he was good, also---but no Michael!!!! Love the musical, however, I wish it were for kids---too much bad language and sexual content---maybe you could do a different version and make even more money---there's a way of making it without this----
I also saw Graham Fenton playing Frankie in the national tour in Pittsburgh. There's only one word to describe his performance . . . PHENOMENAL!! Would see the show again in a heartbeat, especially if Graham is performing!!
I just saw the national tour in Pittsburgh this past weekend.. I went to high school with the guy who played our Frankie Valli.. Graham Fenton.. if anyone out there gets a chance to see him you'll be blown away by his performance!! I was so excited to see him up there.. someone from our little crap town actually made it. Hahaha. Yay! Love this show!
i pretty sure this is the guy that play Frankie when I went down to see the show. It was a Saturday show so it was the rotation actor. He was incredible on stage.
I saw the Jersey Boys in New York (Sept 08), what can I say but it was fantastic! I was on holiday there from Australia. It hasn't started here as yet, must wait until 2009!
i saw the wednesday alternate back in July. he was AMAZING. my mom saw it with work last year, and longoria was the alternate, then he stepped in after JLY left
John Lloyd Young is a fabulous all around actor with an amazing vocal range.... but I think Michael Longoria is the better Frankie. His version is excellent.
saw Jersey Boys twice on Broadway...once in Las Vegas. Vegas baaaaaby....hands down the better performance. Completely mesmerizing. No comparison. The better Frankie definitely is in Vegas right now. how fiting huh?
His voice could be a little more falsetto, but other than that,it's great. I wish I could see Jersey Boys. I don't care a lot which cast performs in it. I am more used to the cast with Christian Hoff,John Lloyd Young and the other people.
There is no falsetto in this song...ever...that being said, what is lacking is some lower register baritone sounds...when Frankie sang in his non-falsetto register, he had a more rich bottom sound.. JLY has that.
he was awesome. i met him at the stage door and we talked about how he was gonna go to my hometown for vacation. very talented and down to earth. lol he's my height, and i'm only 5'6"
oooohhhh....I love him as Frankie. Seems more legit and soulful somehow....than a Brown-grad. Idk...my "first" bwahaaa was Lloyd so all due respect, but something here seems rather genuine? soulful?
Souful? You mean too American Idol contemporary, while JLY was more period and didn't riff? Also, Brown grad or not, JLY is really from the NYC/Jersey area and has Italian American relatives, and Longoria is not Italian and is from California...
Soulful? you think Longoria is more soulful than JLY? There was a reason why JLY was chosen to be the very FIRST Broadway Frankie. And how is this "legit" when he sounds like a weasel?
I don't think he sounds like a weasel. Boo that. JYL is the original, and there's no getting around that - he's brilliant! But what's special about this guy? What's special about Jarrod in Chicago? They *each* have something.....not any single performer *is* Valli you know...they each bring something and should be give their due. Michael seems like an "early" Frankie to me....there's some spark. I think you're in the minority in saying he sounds like a weasel...lol
Ok, Yes beeker500, the actual Frankie Valli had a large enough range to be a tenor and he was. BUT, he was also a baritone. Have you listened to anything other that those songs because he can sing and be a bari as well. So there. Also, I agree with the first two comments that Longoria sounds nothing like the actual Frankie Valli. He is good but he doesn't sound like Frankie Valli AT ALL! So there!!!
You should all stop comparing! When you make jack ass comments, it only makes you look like a jerk. I've seen all of the Frankies and Michael is fantastic. John was great too. Valli was a tenor BTW, no baritone could sing the high belt of Working my Way or Marianne and do it like Valli did. All the guys playing Frankie wouldn't be up there if they weren't talented, so stop posting mean comments...it's very junior high of you.
Junior High? I don't think so. However, you are wrong about the Tenor thing. People assume he was a tenor because his falsetto is so powerful. However, a Baritone tends to have a stronger falsetto than a tenor. A tenor tends to sing very high notes in their full voice and men with a strong falsetto will flip into a falsetto.
Listen to Frankie voice when he is NOT singing in falsetto. There is a rich lower sound to his voice. The notes he sings in full voice are not as high a tenor sings. Trust me.
Vocally Michael is better? How? To me he sounds shrill, pitchy, and has WAY to may scoopy embellishments. He also doesn't hit the bottom notes...Relisten to all of JLY's versions, then listen to Frankie...then listen to Michael. Get back to me. If you STILL think Michael is vocally better, then I think you need your ears checked.
i personally like JYL's voice better, but the thing with michael is that out of all the Frankie's Ive heard, hes the one who sounds the most like the original frankie valli
See, I disagree. I will argue over and over again with you on this one. JLY sounds MUCH closer to the orignial FV than ML. Michael doesn't have the bottom notes that Frankie had, and his break is in a different place. Frankie was a baritone with a falsetto and Michael is a pop tenor. Sound is very different to my ears.
Personally I really don't think these guys are anywhere near as good as the original Frankie Valli and the four seasons.

Yes. All the Frankie Valli performers probably sang the exact same notes, but one sounds like he's singing a fraction of a higherr pitch.
snoochy2 3 years ago
Maybe he is singing flat, and you can hear that. That is what you mean, I think. He isn't on the exact pitch and that is what you are hearing.
industrypro71 3 years ago
Oh. That's true. I think it would still sound good if someone sang it a tiny bit higher.
snoochy2 3 years ago
