  • This is the future

  • And you can get it NOW for only 3 lump payments of fifty grand and your soul!

  • wow

  • Fabelhafte Welt der Amelie---epic movie!

  • looks like microsoft surface

  • The tech is not fake. you can make this with relative ease, but it costs a lot. just look at instructables. look for multi touch ir display.

  • Looks cool until it goes batshit crazy and murders your entire family.

  • @Larkiepants it doesn't murder; it mergers. your entire collection of remotes! see begining how he tossed them all aside for the sleek table. a side note is this is also possible by hiring a servant to operate those remotes.

  • what happens when i drop the movie into the digital pictureframe?

  • can it change the channel on the tv?

  • to those who thinks this is fake, just to let you know that there are already strong following of open source DIY multitouch screen community existed since few years back. The google is always out there lazy fat SSS with fat fingers... go google and type NUIGroup or diy multitouch screen at you tube.

  • Its totally true. i'm here at the Virtual Reality Exposition 'Laval Virtual'.

Where this won the Grand Prix. Also they won the Best Emerging Technology Award at SIGGRAPH 2009

    ....Cool... Nice work!!

  • I don't think it's fake...

The table is just a normal white coffee table with a projector above it. The multitouch technology they're using is readily available today (cameras above the table track the movement of the users' hands). The software is intricate, but it's not as though we don't have the ability to program things of that magnitude.

  • this is only a Microsoft Surface table... no?

  • obviously a concept design

  • Bull shit fake.

  • got to be fake

  • get your own for only 80 million dollars

  • i want one of those but i really dont like how lazy humans are screw all!

  • but this is good for the elderly and hospital ... doctor can easily access the patient and instantly act in times of emergency and elderly who has problem moving around... =D but perhaps the table and etc should be wireless and environmental friendly ... then this should sell... =D

  • i want the 80's back screw technology.

  • no need .. i like to move it move it

we people need to move our body a lil

  • a lil coffee table with a bunch of wires ...

  • we're all going to be fatasses

thank God I go to the gym

  • Not to mention dumbed down as fuck!

  • I wonder how much??

  • I want that.

  • Nice because I like technolgy.. Scary if you think about the future...

  • i thought i was already lazy enough, but with this thing id be the laziest i could possibly be. program it to bring food and drinks! wed never have to walk again! the futures so bright i gotta wear shades

  • there were some great ideas there. I especially liked the cleaning robot.

  • Very nice!

  • this doesn't work on the devices already found in the market, so in order to take advantage of this technology , all new devices must be manufactured to work compatibly with this technology !

I loved the flexibility it provides when viewing photos....

This smart lifestyle could be of a great help for disabled ppl.

  • that would be the only time i could see this not tearing down Social Structure

    your statement is pretty reasonable

  • Yeah, that's awesome. And in some years (perhaps it's already happening now), human beings won't need to lift their asses of the sofa for nothing, really nothing. And in some years, the need of physical movement will be ZERO, and humans will finally get fatness into their genome, which will bring all the overweighted problems from your mother's womb.

Nature evoluted us as perfect movement machines, to run, hunt, swin, mate, escape, etc. Evolution is the doom of mankind.

  • I agree. I totally love the interface, but it makes me realise that the fact that it is the effort required to do something that gives them the value~~ finding photos in the old shed is special, browsing photos in an ever-available system is not~~

as said, systems too convenient just turns people in lazy asses

  • Or not.

  • Yeah. It's going to be a real life version of Wall-E where we just fly around on floating chairs. It's sad really.

  • if my wife is sitting next me, can I shut her mouth up and make her get me a beer?

  • fuckin a!! /cheers ahahahha

  • It's a nice idea, but would have been nicer if they'd back-lit the projection... I guess this is proof of concept though; maybe ideas like this would make the world fatter though?

  • ok this clearly looks very cool, but there are already tons of better room control systems on the market, which let you control your whole appartment with just one little tablet pc/remote control/whatever device. so cristal is basically useless..nobody wants to have to clean his coffee table before playing a movie...

  • KarlsruheCrime, you're missing the point... It's a very vivid vision of the future--it's something that people can use to fire up their imagination and help them eventually make it real.

To the creators of this video: I hope that you didn't stage the whole thing, but rather have some working code... if so, you'd better open-source it!

  • That's awesome! Does everything but wipe my ass!

  • Touch-screen FAIL

    2:07

  • this Is liieee , not is possible - very cool !!!

  • this look like microsoft surface

  • fake...

  • Hi, could you post an image of the ceiling installation?

    Thanks, J

  • AWESOME!!!

  • OMG

how much is it cost D:

  • ...So you want us to lean over and finger fuck a fuckin coffee table. You guys are bunch of assholes... i love it.

  • the vacuum cleaner was ridicule

  • Wait until this shit gets a virus, and then your house ends up attacking and kill you. That would suck.

  • Can I control my wife?

  • LOL!

  • Sadly no.

  • LOL! funny xD

  • But where's the icon that empties your soul from the Recycle Bin

  • Very cool tech, but I agree with the people that say that this is basically one step away from the pod-people in Wall E.

  • well we still like to go outside, well i know i do

  • OH Man That's Awsome.! cant wait intill i can get one.!

  • WOW that is sooo cooool! :)

  • Ultimate couch potato

  • my HP touchsmart can do all of these things and do them wirelessly. I wouldn't sit a glass of vodka on my Touchsmart though.

  • And if the table is broken, then you can't do sh*t home. I wonder how would be the user's face when a big table bluescreen appears HAahahah

  • We're all gonna turn into the people from Wall-E if we don't start moving around more, not LESS lol

  • its nice the tehnology exists but they have to find beter uses for it.....

  • Totally agree.

  • CLEANING ROBOOOOOOOT

  • 10, 20, 30 and even 50 years back this would have been a lame and counter productive interface. Sure it looks fancy and it resembles the cool designs of SciFi movies, but is it really that efficient, does it really save you time and trouble?

  • So...let me get this straight...

I could do ALL of this with 1 remote control while laying on my couch.

But now you want me to clear off my coffee table and point to things??

    No thanks.

Now go get me a beer!

  • Holy Crap thts cool

  • this is crazy!!! is that microsoft surface or a new company with a knock off?

  • i call it the obieceafier

  • xD good thinking

  • Ooooh what a fantastic horror movie prop! Imagine that - a picture of your room on your coffee table, and someone is in it!! But you can't see them in the real room. And they're looking at you. And moving towards you. AAA??? XD

  • The world just got a little lazier whats next not being able to go outside unless you have saftey

  • Technologically, its amazing, but philosophically, its sucks. Soon, we wont feel or touch or smell anything, everything will be digital.

  • patio87, you arent very smart, arent u?

its not a projector. it's a camera on top and a touchscreen table. just like lots of other systems like this one but this has what you could call a live feedback.

  • Sorry, but it very clearly is a projector.

This looks like a tech demo of what they'd like the product to be, but it's very clearly a white table with a projector aimed down on it. (Notice the dark shadows under the hands and the projection of the images that should be on the table onto the the back of the hands). It's a nifty concept, though.

  • Yes, it is a projector... so what? there are many multi-touch technologies out there, some of which include forward projection to display the graphics. Others use back projection (the projector is hidden in the table and projects an inverted image upwards) or even LCD Screens with back lighting. There is nothing wrong with that.

  • You're absolutely right -- there's nothing wrong with that, I was replying to the person below (osirispt2) who said "it's not a projector." In its current incarnation, it is. Though again you're right -- there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

  • so what? they could apply this technology to any touchscreen retard

  • Chill out, man! Did you even read my comment in context? As I said before, there's nothing wrong with it being a projector -- I was replying to someone who said it wasn't.

  • Can i pleeeeease get a testing model? :P

  • kewl

  • When can I have this in my living room!? This is way too cool!! :D

  • not really a "digital tabletop", it's just a smartboard. Good idea but will never work, no one wants to be leaning over a table for hours.

  • You won't browse dvd's, constantly dim lights and sound or change the pictures of your digital picture frames for hours in a row, or do you?

The movie preview 'should' be drag-able to the TV, if it can't do that already.

So I think it might work though like patio87 said, we don't like big projectors on our ceilings.

Perhaps an AMOLED touch-screen can replace that.

    I hope this tabletop/smartboard will work :) .

  • they need to some how hook it up with a ipod.

  • fuckin space age cleanin robots

  • It seems that the "space age" has begun a few years ago. :-) These days you can buy one of those robots for as little as £36.99!

  • VERY AWESOME..Im going to definitely buy One!!!!!!

  • Great. Just what I want, a big ass projector hanging from my ceiling displaying on my table while I display shadow puppets. No thanks.

  • I can't wait to make a game for this thing.. =D

  • This is AWESOME!

  • I got to play with this at SIGGRAPH in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago! This was definitely one of the coolest Emerging Technologies exhibit I experienced!

  • I like it. It certainly makes a better case for "Surface in the living room" than many other demos I've seen.

    A couple thoughts:

    1. I don't think the remote is going away. It's too efficient for making adjustments without having to lean over a table that's lighting up your whole room. I think some level of integration with the remote would make more sense.

    2. The overhead video camera is a bold choice, but I think an abstracted representation of the room would likely be more practical.

  • nice but robot vaccuming is gay

  • Cool, propably a ton cheaper than Surface, but less usable to be honest.

  • wtf stupid

  • It seems even dodgey knock offs of Microsofts "big assed Table" need to have cheesy families in their commercials....

  • muy0 buen0 videoooooooo 0=)

  • Microsoft baby!!!

  • LoL....

    Nice

    *_*

  • Amazing

  • I wonder how they moded all the other electronics, like the vaccum, and roomba??

  • Impresionante !!

  • so in the future, were gonna become a bunch of fat lazy people who dont get off the couch.

  • Worrying, does it?

  • at least all the fat people will stay in there homes out of sight

  • hahaha, that was mean :P

  • You mean the average American isn't that already?

  • So there will be a projector and a camera strapped to your ceiling?

Or does it use something different?

  • Very nice technology but this interface can have negative consequences from heavy bacterial infections, to future technological privacy issues. Its a double edge sword. The fact this will get people comfortable with having cameras watching them in their own house 24/7 is worrisome.

  • very cool.

sucks that it will most likely cost too much for your average person to afford though.

  • That's all very cool but if I'm lying down on my comfy sofa I'd rather have a moveable remote control with me or just control that little image with an iPhone or whatever other device that supports a touch screen.

  • The video's lighting could have been better, but it's a nifty concept.

  • guess that is the dream of any TV addicted fat couch potato :D

and mine it is also x)

  • woah

  • you still have to tap!

  • lol
