  • Protip, put pan under broiler to avoid flipping

  • Very pretty, affordable and looks delicious!

Thank you for teaching me something new I can make my own way.

I don't have a deep fat fryer, as I dislike the residual smell, but I am sure some quickly pan-fried grated taters would work for my family as well as some diced peppers, garlic and a sprinkle of finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

  • tried this today.. TOTALLY AWESOME! thanks for sharing the recipie! :D

  • Please, check out the remastered version of this video recipe at youtube's channel: TapaVino

  • When I first saw this I thought it was a fucking cheeseburger

  • One could also add some pieces of sausage. Great taste!

  • @billysgeo one does not simply add sausage to such a masterpiece.

if you want to add something, make it spanish cured ham or something like that. maybe a teeny tiny bit of garlic, but nothing more

  • What a beautiful omlette! First time I saw spanish omlettes in England and I felt in love with them. Now I know how to make them :) Thank you!

  • Nice recipe,

what my auntie does is similar to that,

but she adds more ingredients and then stick it in the oven,

sausages or minced meat or small pieces of chicken, chives, parsley, peppers of all colours, and some bread crums,

she sautes them all one by one with alot of spices,

in the end u get a slice with salade on the side and yummmmm,

u could try it as a whole meal,

    cheers from Egypt :)

  • what music is this? really nice...

  • @amlankiran Paco de Lucía - Entre dos aguas

  • I like your approach to the omelet, but the fotography is terrible. There is so little contast between the text and the background as to be almost unreadable.

  • I tried making this for the first time a few months a go, using Marco Pierre Whites's video. Although he is a great chef, I should have known not to follow it, when he ended up burning it himself in the video (maybe he should stick to what he knows best?), because as it turned out, my Spanish Omelet turned out better than what his did. But I will definitely have to re-try following your directions though, yours turned out picture perfect! Great video!

  • Hmmm...I think I will try this. Looks good!

  • Im gonna do this :D xD im hungry

  • this omelette maybe is dry or hard, the secret of a juicy omelette is the potato, the potato must be cooked in warm oil and slowly, the onion is optional. i cut the potato in slice for to be done more homogeneus. when the potato is cooked, no fry, i mixed de potato with the eggs, and its okey. the salt is very important, low salt and the taste of de omelette is no good.

    greetings from Sevilla.....

  • @erpishita Thank you for sharing your personal way of cooking a Tortilla de Patatas! the more opinions we have, the better! Saludos paisano!

  • thats awesome looks great:)

  • its just food you idiots, instead of bashing someone on youtube go out and volunteer and use your life wisely

  • this isnt actually an omlette as much as it is a fritter or a latke of sorts ... just sayin' ...

  • @paragshah2112 Yes, you are right, this is not an omelette, this is actually a pepperoni pizza, thank you for letting me know...

  • Just made this meal this morning! It came out not as pretty but really tasty! Does anyone have any ideas on anything i can put in it to make it a bit more flavorful?

  • @TokyoAro Breakfast meats, Cheese, any number of veggies, spices, herbs, take your pick.

  • @TokyoAro I recommend green peppers or chorizo. Anyway, the key to the taste is in the quality of the ingredients.

  • @MrFahrenheit33 Thanks :)!

  • @TokyoAro dont be shy, add your favorite cheese :D

  • a favourite meal of Sancho Pansa, and one of mine as well;) I'm a fan of Spain and it's culture, especially food. Greetings from Poland!

  • Thank you soooo much

  • Qualche gente sono scemi oppura limitate fortemente. Just read the fucking manual, try it at home and buon appetito. It is not that important if its pure spanish or whatssoever ffs. "...we Spanish are blessed to be a mix of different cultures and peoples." In the end it is a shared receipe with a detailed description to get an idea, AN IDEA, how tastefull an spanish omelette can be. Feel free to mix it frogs, sheeps and iron ore and call it !MyStyle! Porca putana eva

  • mmmmmmmmm

  • @jeffdragonst Nothing to do with the recipe, but I'll answer anyway... we Spanish are blessed to be a mix of different cultures and peoples. Most of them Mediterranean (Greeks, Roman, Middle East, North of Africa) and Germanic (Visigoths). Of course, there are more participants in this "melting pot" so I invite you to do some research and find out all about it. Thanks for the comment, by the way, I would stop skipping Spanish classes, no bueno.

  • @LibertadTibet OH GRACIAS , LAMENTO SI SE SIENTE OFENDIDO NO ERA LA INTENCION, TAL VEZ FUE QUE NO DOMINO EL ESPAÑOL Y NO HE SABIDO DECIRLO EN EL MODO QUE ERA DE CORRECTO.

  • @LibertadTibet SALUDOS DE VRSAC !

  • Please next time learn from a Spanish how to make TORTILLA DE PATATAS, otherwise show any other dish!!!!!

  • @jesmondmaltaonly Please next time read the attached information, otherwise refrain from posting a commment.

  • nice tortilla de patatas! i'm spanish and i've never seen this version, but it looks tasty! :)

  • Pathetic Ommlette but excellent Music...VIVA LA ESPANA Hermano!!

  • @anukool21 (this is what happens when you eat at McDonalds all the time)

  • @MrFahrenheit33 Yes... eat at Mcdonalds at times, surely they make better omlettes than this

  • @anukool21 if is like this one.... of course they can do it.... for sure

  • Man this looks good! love this

  • amazing!

  • sorry but you have to crush the potatoes at the time when u are boiling them in oil.

  • @spk2002 It's better to "crush" them as you eat them, believe me.

  • we have mini sized of spanish omelette in malaysia... known as 'begedel' but here we also add minced beef to it :)

  • I'd like to make it - but I don't have a guitar.

  • this makes me cry! im 12 turning 13 next week and this makes me think of a spanish student that we had for 2 months she was every so kind and showed us some spanish dishes e.g. this one. today i know how to cook omlets and chili concarne, you should try cooking this with brockile is soooo nice!!!! thank you for bringing back well.. early memorys. i never thought i could cook but just keep trying is what everyone says to me and its a good saying becuase it works

  • @SuperBabyspud

    Hello!

Chili con carne is not Spanish recipe, is mexican food, probably your friend was from Mexico !!!

    Saludos!

  • OMG ! My grandfather used to make this all the time I just did it but with sausage and garlic powder and cheese It was delish ! :D

  • when in a rush i use pre-cut oreida potatos

  • ah just read the discription

    rofl its from spain

    sorry sorry hahahah

    spain spanish is different lolz

  • im mexican and ive never heard the term "patatas" 0.o

is it like potato and papas like combined into one word? :D

  • @metapixusion Maybe your spanish is out of date?

  • @jrloreto

dude he is talking spaniard -.-

    not spanish

your comment is out of date

  • There is not enough contrast between th text and the background, making it almost impossible to read. Therefore we have no clue what is in this thing.

    Like the music!

  • @oregonpilots However, there is a big contrast between your comment and the rest.

  • @MrFahrenheit33 Look i live in Almeria (Andalucia) and that is the way most of spanish people do the "tortilla de patatas". Some do it with onion and some dont. Personally i preffer it with onion. But dont listen to the peolpe that havent got a clue about spanish cuisine. And i could perfectly read the text in the background. Seems some people are daltonic. Regards.

  • that omelette looks like a patty. XD

  • @natOfbar It's supposed to look like that.

  • i can live a whole day with one of these!

  • some sliced bacon would do

  • im going to try this..looks sooo good im soo scared of the flipping part though..wish me luck!!!!

  • olééé

  • I was about to delete the comments that do not contribute to the discussion in a positive way, but I have decided to leave them on here; they are just too funny to be removed! Enjoy the weekend everyone!

  • there shouldnt be a dislike button in food recepies...

  • In Spain we NEVER use a frying machine to fry potatoes for the omelette, in fact we saute, they must be soft. First suate the onion, and when they start to get golden brown, add the potatoes

  • PORTUGAL RULA!!!!

  • paco de lucia + nice food = orgasm

  • THE FUCKING THINGS U CAN DO WITH EGGS GODDAMMIT

  • I'm not sure I would like an omelette with that much onion but it looks amazing and I surely like Paco de Lucia

  • @KosmoAntoninus The addition of onion is optional, and of course so is the amount that you use.

  • What's the music please?

  • @thelofteddy Paco De Lucia

    "Entre Dos Aguas"

  • I would use lesser amount of potato , add some fresh parsley to give the recipe richer flavour ..

Final result is not convincing to me as such.

  • @WaelSaadawy To use more or less potato is purely a matter of personal taste. I have used parsley sometimes, but I prefer without it. Cook it the way that pleases you, there is no official way of cooking a tortilla. I was born and raised in Spain, I know what I'm talking about. Thanks for watching!

  • @WaelSaadawy honey its suppose to to be like that

  • I'm sorry, but there's nothing right in this way of cooking a Spanish omelette, not even the flipping. Maybe the result looks like a Spanish omelette but I'm sure it will not taste like a real one.

  • @anhelido You are right buddy, this is actually a Seafood Paella, sorry for the mistake.

  • @MrFahrenheit33 Maybe you were born an raised in Spain. That surely guarantees you instant knowledge about cooking and also dancing flamenco... I was also born and raised in Spain, and even worked as a chef. That is not the right way to cook a Spanish omelette. Potatoes should be chopped in thin slices, onion is cooked with potatoes so you mix the tastes. It's cooked slowly. That makes a HUGE difference. Devil is in the details.

  • @anhelido You've worked as a chef? I think you meant as a cook, a chef is the cook who manages a kitchen

But the rest are OK, I work as a cook too in Madrid and I've never seen frying potatoes for omelette in a frying machine

  • LOOKS SO TASTY :O

  • I cut the potatoes in cubes, but slices are fine as well.

  • I love spanish food and the music. Can you please tell me what this sound track is called?

  • @lacone3615 It's called Entre dos Aguas, by Paco de Lucia. He is probably Spain's finest guitarist.

  • @MrFahrenheit33 Thank you.

  • Especifico que se fríen/cuecen en aceite..

  • Hola.

  • why are you playing chinese music in the background bro?

  • @the4445 You're retarded. That's clearly Mexican music. Chinese music sounds nothing like that.

  • @numbuh53 k

  • @numbuh53 You're retarded. That's clearly Spanish music. Mexican music sounds nothing like that, so stop patronizing others.

  • @Non594 Same thing.

  • This music reminds me of my Spanish class days when we had to watch the dialog videos lol

  • its more like chips diped in egg and baked in slow heat like a pie

  • my mouth is watering

  • I made an omelette today with broiled (not fried) potatoes and it was good!! The taste was a little less intense, but still great!!

  • looksz soo gud... i will try this at home

  • Potatoes are too thick, that probably will cause they get the taste of oil.

Cut the potatoes finer and fry mixed with the onion.

Anyway there's not an only way to make it.

    Good job!!!

    Saludos

  • @MrFahrenheit33 instead of frying the potatoes could you boil them?

  • @bladesmark1 It's not very usual in Spain but yes, I've seen them done with boiled potatos. I will try with broiled potatos and I will share with you all how it turned out!

  • MMMMMMMM, looks very tasty!!!

  • Tasty stuff :D
