  • Exactly. Therefore the announcers are correct in saying THE Wellington Pheonix etc. There is one "pheonix" from wellington, so it is THE Wellington Pheonix. Perfectly correct grammar.

  • "There is more than one person in each team right? ' Yep but there's ONLY one team.

  • "ridiculous predisposition"? You sure?

  • What is there not to be sure about?

  • Its because of the ridiculous predisposition of A League clubs to use singular nouns to describe plural objects. It should be The Wellington Pheonixes and The Perth Glories. There is more than one person in each team right? Or should we start saying Newcastle Jet and Australian Socceroo?

  • is saying "goal" difficult?

  • Am I alone on being puzzled by the commentator's use of THE? It's Wellington Phoenix and Perth Glory. NOT THE Wellington Phoenix or THE Perth Glory.

  • The commentators are absolutely correct, grammatically speaking.

  • Maybe we should think "exception to the rule"?

    ;)

  • cleared into the net? LOL
