@ Iwantherboots & acholl980. Thou are both correct. During the first few episodes where Sidney spoke with the "Ed Wynn"- like voice, the giraffe character was called "Carol". But later when Sidney's voice became higher and whinier, courtesy of Lionel Wilson, the giraffe was renamed,"Cleo". The latter name was still retained when Sidney spoke with the "Hugh Herbert"- like voice, courtesy of Dayton Allen. And regardless of which name, she still spoke with that "Carol Channing"- like lisp.
Sidney's voice totally changes from the original! He sounds like Al G. Swindler from 'Garfield & Friends' in this one, he sounded like Ed Wynn in 'Sick, Sick Sindey'.
Lionel Wilson was Sidney's voice from 1958 through '62; during the final year of production (1962-'63), Dayton Allen [using his "Hugh Herbert" impression] succeeded him, with Wilson {and Allen} voicing the other animals. This one was produced in 1963.
Yeah! I've been trying to figure out the name of this toon for DECADES! People I've met who felt they were cartoon experts thought I must've been making it up trying to stump them. Thanks for YouTube! Well, if anyone knows the other one that's been bugging me... Cartoon from the 60s I believe with an alien (not Gazoo/Flintstones). The show was like a toon version of My Favorite Martian. Thanks!
Versatile actor & voice-over artist Dayton Allen, who also did Deputy Dawg & Heckle & Jeckle among other Terrytoon characters plays Sidney in this particular cartoon.
I remember these--even as little kids we weren't that thrilled w/ these. But thanks for posting it! I associate them w/ Sugar Bear toons for some reason.
Try ebay. Terrytoons on VHS pop up pretty often. In fact, I've sold some of them myself. Other terrytoons like Hashimoto, Deputy Dawg, Sad Cat, Hector Heathcoate, etc....all of them show up on ebay from time to time.
Are those all the cartoons that used to play in those Red Cartoon Movie boxes? You know those red movie boxes, you put in a quarter and it plays a short cartoon like this one or Hekyll and Jekyll.
Finally its here. such wonderful memmories. Home and safe and staying home from school to watch. Oh how I miss those days. Please post more. Been waiting 8)

Her name is Cleo, not Carol. She has a slight lisp.

Does anyone mentioned that Carol the giraffe sounds like Carol Channing?

Does Dayton Allen do the voice of all the characters in this cartoon?

Elephants weigh far more than 1,940 lbs. Try 14,000 lbs. That's how much Jumbo weighed at Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus.

To GinaEmacs: It might be Astronut, a later Terrytoons character.
