Player Housing: Okay, technically you're wrong, but I'm not gonna defend TOR here. There IS player housing, but it IS inferior to SWG. (The ships in TOR are your housing, but you can't decorate them).
Next, sandbox and story: once you get your ship, you CAN go anywhere you want whenever you want. (It's not a good idea to go to some planets early on, but if you really want to, you can.) And while SWG had 7-8 planets, TOR has 17. (I'm not kidding, look at the website) And while some aspects of Story are decided for you, some are controlled by choices you make. And YOU are the one who decides who your character is, via the lightside-darkside system. (Are they good? Evil? Somewhere in between?)
First, the timeline: Have you heard of Knights of the Old Republic? If not, then you should know it's a Star Wars game made by BioWare that has received a lot of praise. And there was a reference to it in SWG. (Do you know HK-47? He was the final boss of SWG's Champion of Mustafar questline. He's a character from KotOR.) However, the story of the games ended with a few loose ends, and TOR remedied them. (If you haven't figured it out, TOR is a spiritual Successor to the KotOR games).

If you actually play the game before "having an opinion on it", you could actually have an opinion on it. swtor has been out now for a couple months, it needs improvements like any other mmo just starting out. It has a fantastic storyline no matter which class you start out with. I was impressed every class I played. The end game isn't there yet, but it will be. In a year or two the game will be in full swing crippling any competition.
no one cares about the old republic?! Kotor 1 and 2 where absolutely classics. Waaaay better story lines then the movies. In my opinion the REAL star wars movies where episodes 4 and 5. Reven, Malak, Carth, Bastilla and many more characters are much more badass than any of the movies characters.

On the third point, EVERY SINGLE RPG BASED GAME HAS A SET STORY FOR YOU!!! Also I played galaxies for about 5 years total from launch to around the time they implemented hoth. The game was never any good, and had no point. If you want to run around socializing, go play second life.

Also, I'll say it again: TERA does NOT get rid of the Holy Trinity. You still need a TANK for group dungeons, and a HEALER as well. Third part, ofc, DPS. That right there, is a Holy Trinity. The only added the element of aiming, which depends on player reaction.

If you can't accept SWTOR because it's not set during the films era you need to wake up. The Star Wars theme games that have been produces over the last 10 or so years include a balance of material from during film and inbetween or before film. SWKOTOR was a huge hit because it began from the original republic that was reffered to from the prequel films. So was SWKOTOR2. Now there is a much awaited sequal form to SWKOTOR in the form of TOR.

ToR is awesome.. I was over swg within 5 minutes of loggin on to ToR.,... SWG needed player housing to give something to do because they failed so miserably at keeping things interesting... ToR does not! You can totally choose "who you are" in the game... your choices decide later gameplay! You can go to whatever planet you want...whenever you want! Just face it... I get what she's saying, SWTOR isn't the game for everyone. SWTOR looks fun, but it lacks the traits to fill the void left by SWG(pre-NGE), doesn't look like a game I would play for the long haul. SWTOR is content and story driven, and while that has some value, I want a player driven game like SWG or EVE. I probably will get SWTOR, but SWGEmu will be my main, long haul, MMO.

I played WoW for 6 years and quit it to try out SWTOR. And im glad i did. Even through the numerous bug fixing and tweeking the game needs i like it a lot better then WoW. Wow is becoming a kids game. I didn't play a good mmo for 6 yrs to see it getting polluted by a fluffy new panda bs race which got f*** all to do with the whole storyline. Clearly the designers were running low on idea's and then some1 watched Kung Fu Panda. It still needs al lot of work, but i love SWTOR
You are soooo wrong. Star Wars is more than just the movies. Star Wars has a HUGE EU. You can go to any planet you wan, you just need to get your starship first (Duh). Player housing is a bit narcissistic and not really worth the consumption of digital resources and creates too much sprawl in supposedly remote areas. Finally SWTOR lets you Role Play your character through NPC interaction. You can be submissive or a smart-ass to them. Other games you just accept the mission. No RP in that.

Secondly, you CAN go to any planet, once you have got your own ship and there are 17 planets to explore.
Thirdly, you do get to make choices in your story line which changes things.

I like the set story myself, I really love what they did with the game, it's unlike any MMO out there, and it's in a good way. But I do agree with liking the whole making my own story. I hear you on that. Still, I like the game's story but that's just me, and maybe a fuck load of other people, thousands maybe... Just saying. Personal player housing will more than likely be a later addition to the game. I can't see them not adding that. I agree, player housing is awesome. Makes a game GREAT :)

@goofygrrl first, you do have "housing," its called your spaceship, and with that spaceship, you can go to any planet you want at any given time, so you are wrong on both of those points. There is not really a set story because you choose your sides and every outcome is different. And the last half of your video doesn't make sense or just blabbering your mouth. If you always judge harshly on the BETA and make that the reason why you won't play, you'll never find a descent game.
Thats a pretty clear winner, but like most fanboys (or girls in this case) you will probably try to convince yourself that an overall consensus of critics is invalid in some way, and that you, not professionals, know exactly what your talking about. Galaxies might have been fun, but just about everyone agrees TOR is better. Besides, just go play on a private server, they're free and the exact same thing.

If you actually play the game before "having an opinion on it", you could actually have an opinion on it. swtor has been out now for a couple months, it needs improvements like any other mmo just starting out. It has a fantastic storyline no matter which class you start out with. I was impressed every class I played. The end game isn't there yet, but it will be. In a year or two the game will be in full swing crippling any competition.

First point is both trivial and completely moronic. Second point, so because you have to level progress to each planet it sucks? Logic does not compute. On the third point, EVERY SINGLE RPG BASED GAME HAS A SET STORY FOR YOU!!! Also, I'll say it again: TERA does NOT get rid of the Holy Trinity. You still need a TANK for group dungeons, and a HEALER as well. Third part, ofc, DPS. That right there, is a Holy Trinity. The only added the element of aiming, which depends on player reaction.

The Star Wars theme games that have been produces over the last 10 or so years include a balance of material from during film and inbetween or before film. SWKOTOR was a huge hit because it began from the original republic that was reffered to from the prequel films. So was SWKOTOR2. Now there is a much awaited sequal form to SWKOTOR in the form of TOR.

ToR is awesome.. I was over swg within 5 minutes of loggin on to ToR.,... SWG needed player housing to give something to do because they failed so miserably at keeping things interesting... If you haven't tried the game yet, I know you'd love it. I'm telling you, the voice acting is better than the acting in the movies. It's like experiencing SW all new. I understand your "lack of faith", I used to RP as a gray Jedi on Starsider. Yes, no player housing sucks and who doesn't love a good sandbox. Also SWG's space combat is still ichiban.

I get what she's saying, SWTOR isn't the game for everyone. SWTOR looks fun, but it lacks the traits to fill the void left by SWG(pre-NGE), doesn't look like a game I would play for the long haul. SWTOR is content and story driven, and while that has some value, I want a player driven game like SWG or EVE. I probably will get SWTOR, but SWGEmu will be my main, long haul, MMO.

I played WoW for 6 years and quit it to try out SWTOR. And im glad i did. Even through the numerous bug fixing and tweeking the game needs i like it a lot better then WoW. Wow is becoming a kids game. I didn't play a good mmo for 6 yrs to see it getting polluted by a fluffy new panda bs race which got f*** all to do with the whole storyline. Clearly the designers were running low on idea's and then some1 watched Kung Fu Panda. It still needs al lot of work, but i love SWTOR

You are soooo wrong. Star Wars is more than just the movies. Star Wars has a HUGE EU. You can go to any planet you wan, you just need to get your starship first (Duh). Player housing is a bit narcissistic and not really worth the consumption of digital resources and creates too much sprawl in supposedly remote areas. Finally SWTOR lets you Role Play your character through NPC interaction. You can be submissive or a smart-ass to them. Other games you just accept the mission. No RP in that.

I like the set story myself, I really love what they did with the game, it's unlike any MMO out there, and it's in a good way. But I do agree with liking the whole making my own story. And also the devs already made it clear on the SWGemu servers that they tried doing some updates that screwed up their game that pushed back the progress of their progression by years. @goofygrrl first, you do have "housing," its called your spaceship, and with that spaceship, you can go to any planet you want at any given time, so you are wrong on both of those points. There is not really a set story because you choose your sides and every outcome is different. And the last half of your video doesn't make sense or just blabbering your mouth. Please make better videos in the future, for the sake of your audiences' time.

@goofygrrl You do realize that it's called a BETA for a reason right? They have fixed a majority of the problems in the BETA such as the Lightsaber sizes, the storylines, glitches on the different worlds, the lag, the amount of stuff you can and can't deconstruct, etc etc. Perhaps you should have a thing called patience? If you always judge harshly on the BETA and make that the reason why you won't play, you'll never find a descent game.

Galaxies might have been fun, but just about everyone agrees TOR is better. Besides, just go play on a private server, they're free and the exact same thing.
