I was at this show, this was the second time I saw AC/DC, first time was in Landover, MD Capital Centre 1977, they opened for KISS, when they were done playing I don't think anyone wanted to see KISS, mind blowing
this openning , Live Wire ...... 5o.ooo fans .... if your were´nt there you can explain it, the crowd looks like they sleeping, but its actually becuase they were all packed together ..... you had to be there .....
I wish I had been at this show but watching the artists perform from footage from their appearances here on youtube I feel Ive been there, Why cant the young make us get off our seats anymore or at least make us jealous? cmon kids put down the game console and get ya self a gibson sg or a large drum kit at least. Fanx for sharing. TURN IT UP CHARLIE.
1st time I saw them was Day on the green in july 1978. They opened for Aerosmith, Foreigner, Van Halen, and Pat Travers. Cheap Trick was supposed to open, but canceled for some reason. Ac/Dc took their place. We were pissed. Nobody knew who they were. Until they started playing TNT. They rocked and stole the show!
this when i first started getting into ac/dc, I was 10 and lived in San Jose. Unfortunately, my strict parents wouldn't let me see a show until the "For Those About to Rock" tour. still a fan 30 yrs later, and still live in San Jose, CA.. My all time favorite band.
@pucknut68 Hey I saw them on the Highway To Hell tour @ Rocky Point a now closed amusement park in Rhode Island they were just about to break in the U S . those were the days, what I'd give . . . .
Listen to that crowd!! I'm glad Bon lived to do a day on the green!! Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this was the boys first performance ever in the bay area. I didn't make it to this one but I remember buying powerage not knowing much about these guys and my buddies were telling me about this headbanging kid playing guitar. We didn't know what hit us!
@92Redstat This was actually the boys' 4th bay area performance. They played 3 times during the Powerage Tour in '78. San Jose on 7/16/78, Oakland on 7/23/78 (Day on the Green #3) and Oakland again on 9/2/78 (Day on the Green #5). I was lucky enough to be at both of the '78 Days on the Green as well as this '79 Monsters of Rock show! Long live Bon Scott!!
@tool5150 if you're unable to see the genius, albeit demonic, of this performance, then you are not worthy of commenting on the pure beauty of what you have just witnessed.
@eldeliveroso Listen i have been listening to acdc since you were in diapers and acdc at this point in time they were just seeing the top of the mountain of sucess bon is better and this performance rocked i never said it did'nt i just said they were not at their peak they peaked in the 80's after back in black one of the best selling records of ALL time!
@JoasRockIsMyLife Yeah I got lucky, born in 58, went to see these guys play in Victoria Australia in the early days when I was 14 + years old, used to have to fight sharpies and rockers and run at times too from large groups of them just to get through the streets to the High school hall called the Big Fish.
hey carolslucky7s do you remember Angus going through the crowd?-I was the guy right by the opening where he came out before he got on Bon Scott's shoulders
I was there too-and I wonder who was the cave boy now who passed out the "Monsters of Rock" buttons before the show in the parking lot while everyone waited in line-I still have mine dude and I had to beg for it and he personally gave me one-yes folks this concert was awesome-all the way from SanJose we all came-as always to the day on the greens! signed Craig O'Briant aka Stash
@classic7890 IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW BONDS GENIUS LISTEN TO THE SONG BIG BALLS THAT IS A SONG BRIAN CANT DO - HE SAID IF YOUR NAME IS ON THE GUESS LIST NO ONE CAN TAKE YOU HIGHER EVERYBODY SAYS IVE GOT GREAT BALLS OF FIRE.THATS BON SCOTT

Is Angus using a wireless rig? If so, it would have to be one of the earliest setups. Cool!
