Your quite mistaken, When you are a competting you are NOT allowed to sing a whole song. Only winners or guest performers sing whole song. The reason why he was allowed to sing the whole song is because he won and was there as a guest performer.Carrie at the time was still competting.

wow long time since i've been here. Ryan must be really tiny eh? Because Guy, contrary to appearances, is not large at all - by all means. The only thing that sort of gives the wrong impression is that he works out, and has large shoulders. But he's actually medium/average. Don't know how he fitted everything into his schedule that year & don't know how he fits all in now. Just returned from recording with his friend John Mayer's band, with John on guitar and B/V!
Carrie does this well, but I am biased and I do like Guy's version. but I must say ryan Sacrest is a lovely guy, IMO he always makes people feel welcome, just my observation.

Carrie underwood has one credit b'cause she can hit high notes unlike guy sebastian. we all know it is hard for any male singer to reach that notes. but i think guy sebastian puts more colours in that song. he play with the melody unlike carrie which is flat through out the song.

However, I didn't like this performance. He didn't hit all the big notes and there was no climax, he just copped out. But he was probably tired or something so I don't blame him.

No Guy didn't write it HOWTOMAKENEXUS. It was the song he was given to sing as his debut when he won the 1st Australian Idol. But he has written many great songs before and since.

wow long time since i've been here. Ryan must be really tiny eh? Because Guy, contrary to appearances, is not large at all - by all means. The only thing that sort of gives the wrong impression is that he works out, and has large shoulders. But he's actually medium/average. Don't know how he fitted everything into his schedule that year & don't know how he fits all in now. Just returned from recording with his friend John Mayer's band, with John on guitar and B/V!

Carrie does this well, but I am biased and I do like Guy's version. but I must say ryan Sacrest is a lovely guy, IMO he always makes people feel welcome, just my observation.

He killed it, as he did with the recording.
This is a laid back Guy version :)
The proper version beats all others.
Anyone that sings Julie Andrews ' Climb Every Mountain' is a star. Check it out by Guy during then AUS Idol series.

Guy Sebastian was a back up singer in a christian band called Planetshakers.. Haha. he has really grown.. as well as gaining a lot of weight.. haha

Guy did fantastically, and we're all proud of him in Australia. He was the Australian Idol for a reason. How can it be fair to compare a man and a woman when it's recognised that each voice has different strength, range and uniqueness that appeals to some and not to others? Quit the Guy-Carrie talk. It's stupid. I know Carrie's fantastic. But so is Guy.

it is not fair to compare both of them. I think carrie and guy sebastian both have different singing style. Carrie underwood has one credit b'cause she can hit high notes unlike guy sebastian. we all know it is hard for any male singer to reach that notes. but i think guy sebastian puts more colours in that song. he play with the melody unlike carrie which is flat through out the song.
so in conclusion, i like both of them!!!

I agree that they shouldnt be compared. Each to their own, for their songs. However, just wanted to comment that Guy has or had an almost 4 octave range (I think Loving You is on here, somewhere). But now with his Memphis Album (with Steve Cropper & the MGs) he's tending to get back to the deeper,huskier tones (& very appreciated it is too :P ! He goes global in 2009

God I loved Guy and I remember buying his single and album LOL.
However, I didn't like this performance. He didn't hit all the big notes and there was no climax, he just copped out. But he was probably tired or something so I don't blame him.

mega tired & mega nervous. He NEVER puts his hands in his pockets. It was unexpected, he flew out from US while they got the work card, arrived back with 2 hours to spare, hardly had time to cut back the length of the song. Randy was great tho, kept taking around saying You gotta hear this guy sing! Guy was fairly shy in those days, too. Now he's so used to talking, born to talk he reckons. I love all 4 of his albums, all so different from each other. Last gone 3P, The Memphis Album

Critics this yr sd "sensational voice", "incredible stage presence", "genuine rare talent", "astonishing" and gave their show "the perfect concert"

heard during Mid march 08, from Guy. Looks like UK, Memphis and Los Angeles, festivals and with THAT band. (Steve Cropper & the MGs!) Its all sounding great, what with his marriage coming up this year & he wrote Receive The Power for the WYD08 in July in Sydney
