  • i wish they continued making the movies...the books are amazing!!!!

  • @Firefox123455 It is :) Mr Gruffudd is from Wales and was raised with Welsh (Cymraeg) as his first language. You can actually find vids of him speaking Welsh here on YT. It sounds awesome :D

  • @Firefox123455 Like Astraea says, it's Yo-ann ;)

  • oui.....si. priceless

  • Could anyone translate what he says to the Spanish officer?

  • I wish they made more of movies. HornBlower is one of the best series i have ever watched.

  • How do you phonectically pronounce this young man's name? Ioan? Eye a n? I've never heard a first name like this. Any one know it's origonal? Sounds Irish but what do I know? :) Ian is what I come up with. I've never seen him in anything else. How did he get this part? Whoever picked him should be commended. He's excellent. I don't have a tv so don't know the background of this series or how the actors were picked but boy, did they get the right actors for the parts. Styles is my fav.

  • @Songsmirth Ioan Gruffudd is Welsh, and the name is pronounced Yo-ann Griff-ith (Welsh version of "John"). He actually had a bit part in "Titanic", and the "Poldark" series. He was also in a BBC version of "Great Expectations".

  • are the uniforms in these films accurate to the period? just wondering

  • this is like Star Trek the Next Generation, but on water!

  • @scottyrobot With good reason. Gene Roddenberry loved the Hornblower novels and was inspired by Hornblower to create "Star Trek."

  • @scottyrobot yeah, actually captain kirk was said to be slightly based off of Horatio

  • Get him over the side... with dignity. I LOVE Pellew! lol :)

  • @scottielise Pellew isn't big on politics and what's politically correct. . bless him. He's a man's man and honest to the core. But he tries because he know that some politics are necessary. And Horatio gets him. Pellew is different in that he cares for his men not treating them like morons. I've studied many, many wars and in each of them God is always on their sides. Whatever side that is. One crusade the men from Eng came to a town. Found out all were Christian. Killed everyone anyway.

  • thanks for uploading, this yankee found the series very interesting

  • ma friend intorduced me to this show. its not that bad actually. i was surprised to learn that Jamie Bamber was on this show. he's so hot

  • Horatio Nelson is my great great great uncle on my mom's side.

  • "YOUUU TELLL HIM SIRRRRRRRR"!!!!!

  • poor cows........

  • What Hornblower says in french to the spanish captain is sooooooooo funny, and so far from what Pellew probably wanted to be said in truth....

  • Hey, Captain Wedge Antilles!!! 1:36

  • Thank you for posting these!!!!!!!

  • how the background music is named please?

  • That...I do not know. *sheepish* Sorry!

  • thanks anyway ...

but if someone knew do he could tell me?

  • i was wondering who the acter was playing hornblower?

  • the same guy that plays mr. fantastic in fantastic 4. Ioan Gruffudd (his name is welsh btw)

  • Bramblefox - Boy, you guys are lucky. One series is about S$120 here in Singapore! (Approx USD$80?) and that too you can't find all the series, I've only got the first (The Duel). Strangely it wasn't in a top store, but hidden away under "Misc Languages" in a video rental mall specialising in Canto Pop!! (Korean/Chinese movies). Thanks a lot for these postings, BBC period drama are incredibly romantic & I love Ioan in everything (except Forsyte Saga his Bossinney is quite an unfaithful fellow)!

  • so, those cows all drowned?

  • Probably... :(

  • @chopinandliszt R.I.P YOUR MUM!

  • What # is this movie? Like they go in order from 1 -8. Is this # 9?

  • This is #2. It goes: The Duel (1), The Fire Ships (2), The Duchess and the Devil (3), The Wrong War (4), The Mutiny (5), Retribution (6), Loyalty (7), and Duty (8).

  • Comment removed

  • I'v seen all of them on here but the wrongwar! :( were is it?! Can you post it?!

  • @Bramblefox thank you

  • Thanks so much. It seems I can smell a fellow homeschooler via their tastes in literature.

  • You have an excellent sniffer, my friend. :D I am a homeschooler indeed!

  • Heehee xD Captain: *rage through gritted teeth* Hornblower: *translates into eloquent beautifully polite French*

I'm not really a period-war fan, but I do enjoy this, partly because it has a good sense of humour. Thanks for all the uploads ^_^

  • No problem! Thanks for the comment!

  • Ha ha. The best part is when Pellew says "Oui" then corrects himself and says "Si"

He's so clueless when it comes to languages.

  • @Wonkapoo ~ "Oui" sounds like "We" doesn't it?

  • Thank you so much for posting these! I miss this series very much.

  • You're welcome! The whole series is marked down on Amazon if you're interested--I bought all eight for about $40 last year (and the price has been coming down since then).

  • Thank you so much for putting these on here. I started them when the aired but I never got to finish them. Oh and if you could find "Fairy Tale: A True Story" or "The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns", please put them on.

  • You're welcome! XD To be honest I've never heard of ether of those movies...*sweatdrop* Who did them?

  • One of my favorite episodes. Thanks for posting this.

  • You're quite welcome! :D
